True but it's still pretty hard to make an grinder as you need space and you need to make the platform whilst jumping up and down in the water :unsure.gif:
Why don't you just use "shift" to keep from falling into the water while placing the platform? I use to use the swim and jump around before I learned that holding shift keeps you from falling now I always use shift.
I love hardcore, and for those that scared of losing their buildings just a make a backup save file and update it every so often. oh wait, this defeats the purpose of hardcore mode right? Ok, so lets say you only backup those really cool seeds and structures. lol
Hmm, I can't make up my mind so I'll just go with I like both. Love doing hardcore nomad style game play, and love making vast empty areas to build in on survival as well.
The few that die I believe come from mobs jumping in the water instead of falling 23 they fall 24 blocks, at least this is what seems to happen when I've used this trap. If you need to help making a trap this link should help a bit, although the guy that made it something of a stitch. Word usage, personalty etc.
It sounds like you may be using this type of trap already if so try changing the difficulty from normal to hard or easy etc. I've found that it changes how hard it is to kill the mobs after they fall. honestly the best the thing to do is just experiment a bit with the diffulty level and height until you get it right I had to do this myself as well.
//edit: I've used this trap for skeletons, zombies and spiders, it works great for the first two, but not the spiders because they: 1 have less health, and 2 can crawl through a 1 and even a 1/2 block space. I've not tried this with spiders with a 1/2 corner block opening so that may work , but I kind of doubt it. I also like using str potions.

It has mountains, oceans, plains, forests, swamps, and huge surface canyons all over. There's even a crisscross surface canyon one under the other that goes right down to lava pool level. play it in hardcore mode and its a something of a challenge, just don't be a wimp and hide in your house all the time.
Watch your step you can be sprinting through a plain and suddenly have a canyon smack in front of you.

They're entertaining and all are attainable if somewhat tedious at times, with the exception of the skeleton thing. Shoot a skeleton at 50 meters, I don't know about 1.9 or minecraft 1.0, but in 1.8, 1 meter equaled 10 blocks so 50 meters would be 500 blocks do arrows even shoot that far, and how would you see the skeleton from that distance?
Anyway, achievements are somewhat fun, but at times tedious, if you don't like that don't do them.
High score was 380 something legit, then I died and had to start loading previous saved games cause the seed and house I had made were some I really liked. I can't even remember how I died, but it was something really lame. Maybe falling to my death? just cant remember.
Now after several more deaths and reloads my score is somewhere between 1500 and 2000 although this is of course not legit
