Just out of curiosity, how much RAM do you have? I have 16GB, but I don't think that's nearly enough to generate and export a 75,000 block x 50,000 block world...

32gb with an intel core i7 processor

The 75,000x50,000 is actually inaccurate, while it would be possible for me to do those dimensions I found it far too...big to work in minecraft's capped height of 256. Sure, I could modify the client and world to allow for higher heights, but I would rather keep the world as realistic as possible. As such the world is closer to 30,000x20,000, which still might be too big for a realistic look but I feel it is a fine compromise.

On a related note, you could potentially take smaller 'chunks' from worldpainter and merge them together to form a bigger map if RAM is your problem, however this can lead to future complications such as world corruption that you won't be aware of immediately as it may appear fine at first. Though overall I would highly recommend making worldpainter a tool and not something you depend on to make a great map...it is normally best to take the extra time to do things with world edit and voxelsniper than to do it poorly with worldpainter.

A bit more on that previous note, I personally made an executive decision to do all rivers, lakes, mountains, and trees by hand and with voxel/world edit....that may make the project take an extra 6 months but I believe the end result will have a much more stunning and accurate effect. One thing you must consider with world painter is that it can cause more problems that it fixes. I found that I had to remove and modify half the trees and I had to modify the rivers I made with world painter which took just as much time as it would to do by hand in the first place.

Enough rambling though, if you would like to, you can come on our primary server any time and I can give you a short tour of the world, the server IP is on our community forum and it is a public server. Also, there are worlds on the server where you can freely build and help contribute to the project if you would like to.

Yes! This needs to happen! Even if the whole of Alagaesia isn't recreated, and just a few major locations are, that would be okay with me!

    I wish you luck!

It's going to be everything :)

Alagaesia is an ambitious project with the simple goal of creating a replica of Chirstopher Paolini's Alagaesia. The world is roughly 30,000 blocks x 20,000 blocks in size and is one of the largest Minecraft projects in existence. The video above is of a prototype world that is much smaller and much less detailed. The current map in the works has much more realistic mountains, forests, and terrain in general.

The map you can see above is also very outdated and is of a prototype build that was much smaller than the current.

When terraforming is complete a server will open up for anyone interested in building structures. If you are interested in applying you have to to go Alagaesia-Minecraft.com.

    Questions/Answers
Question: Will the entire world ever be downloadable?
Answer: As of now, no. I intend to release 'chunks' of a prototype map in the near future but I currently have no intentions of releasing the entire world for download.

Question: Where can I view this world?
Answer: You can visit our website, Alagaesia-Minecraft.com for server information.

    Follow us on Twitter.

Jtborth! Where on earth have you been? Alagaesia-minecraft has been silent for months!

It's good to see you back! :-)

I had no internet when I left from college. College started 3 days ago and I should be good to go from now on.

How did you made the terrain ? By hand, worldpainter, normal generation..etcetc.

Looks nice tho ! Keep it up ! :)

Most is by hand, some is by Worldedit, I believe A very small portion is also Voxel.

(I normally do small hills by hand and I also normally make the river by hand then lower it with worldedit.)

I remember the old days where Mithril was the best and the graphics were better. I'd love to revisit those memories through this, and would be happy to help. I've been lacking motivation in my WIP Map currently and I need something to start me back up again. I'm a barely above-average builder with some Redstone skills. However, I think Command Blocks are my specialty. I'd love to help, but can't provide a server to do so. Thanks for reading. -Taco

I have a server, if you are interested in building just buildings (I am doing all scaling to ensure accuracy) reply one more time and I can give you the details through Skype. Basically you would have a set area to work with (Example). However, you would need a RuneScape membership or access to a 2007-accurate private server to ensure building look similar in design to the game.

I'll support almost any runescape recreation, best of luck! I get a lot of nostalgia from the days of old...

    Thanks for the support.

This is a project that attempts to reach the goal of getting a compressed 2:1 replica of the current Old School RuneScape. It will feature every landmark and every city from the game. I have currently put in well over 50 hours into the project and I will periodically make newer versions of the map available for download. You can use the world for any personal use but you MAY NOT use it for a public or private servers and you cannot reupload a modified version in any way without my permission first..

I hope to get F2P done first and then work on from there is no particular order. I may skip over underground parts at first due to lack of necessary skills to make the Dwarven mine and Port Sarim cave.

If you are interested in helping with this project please comment below and I will contact you through PM.

It is not my goal to make the buildings look great, I hope to build simple buildings first for the purpose of getting the entire map properly scaled and I will more than likely go back to previous buildings to make them much better or have other people rebuild them more stylish.
