With 1.8 just around the corner, and with the leaked copy already out, It's come to my attention that a great new way of protecting yourself from skeletons and PvP archers has been made possible via Fence gates. Using Glass Panes to protect your fortifications is a great way to ensure you see anything coming. But what about when it comes time to let slip the dogs of war?
Fence gates allow arrows to pass through when open, but block arrows when closed. Putting fence gates in the middle of glass pane walls is a great way to allow your Archers to stay protected, while still allowing them to shoot outwards. Note that drawing a bow is impossible, to my knowledge, when looking at a fence gate. Simply look down to be able to draw your bow.
G'day.
Edit: Gosh darn it. I typed out 3 paragraphs then accidently deleted it all.
Long story short: Skill points gained by combat should not upgrade your building skill. Skill points should only upgrade combat abilities.
You don't need much imagination to play Minecraft. It's possible to play it quite well with no creativity or imagination. Still a great game though. Dwarf Fortress on the other had take untold amounts of imagination and creativity just to make it past the embark screen.
Mojang makes game engine from scratch.
Mojang builds game from it that thousands of people play.
Modders start making unofficial, buggy mods that break saves, and stop browser-capability.
Suddenly Mojang is being criticized for not updating faster making version to version releases than thousands of modders all working on different things exclusively?
Stop complaining you dolts. Mojang earns their keep. If Mojang hadn't made the game engine to start with, your precious modders would have nothing to work with. Mojang has every right to take as long as they please for every update. They owe you nothing. NOTHING. Let that sink in.

Why do you write like that? It doesnt make you cooler you know..
Doesn't make him less "cool" either.
Anyhow. I noticed in the livestream that notch tossed a torch with Q, and when it hit a wall, it bounced off, and the sprite kinda twisted around. Seems like mini blocks get Virtual Pseudo-Physics now.
I would retrieve my arms from the chest.
...
What? I mean, like, my sword. And my bow. No Arrows though; Clubbing things with a delicate piece of wood designed for anything but physical violence is somehow satisfying.
So basically, your point is that because you dislike it, it's naturally monotonous and dis-likeable by everyone and soon enough everyone else will come to see your view as the one true path to internet enlightenment? Smooth.
I already thought of this, but it is kinda pointless to think about it, the red/brown mushroom blocks might deteriorate like leaves and you only get the stalk, or vice versa. We don't really have enough information besides that they are there and what they look like (and that might even change).
I am pretty sure Notch is talking about randomly generated dungeons, like the ones in the Primordial Desert Generator or the dungeons in Legend of Zelda (as an example, LOTS of games have dungeons).
You could have used Dungeons and Dragons as your example. Y'know, the game that coined the term dungeon for a space full of traps and monsters.
