Since something terrible has happened to the old forum post, it looked all messed up...
I decided to remake the forum from scratch again, (this weekend when I have time)
So here's a cheap preview of the trio gems mod!

Note: Removing the block that you spawned on, and not placing a block back (So if there is no block on your spawn point) then dieing may spawn you elsewhere as it is too small to pick a spawn close by. So it will spawn you on the mainland, and it will be impossible to get back. Be careful! (This problem is fixed for the versions that are above this spoiler.)

"How do I keep my water from re-freezing?"
This is a very simple fix. To stop your water from re-freezing, as this is in a Tundra (snow) biome, simply place a block above your water source, or a torch next to the source. There are alternative downloads for the level.dat file, but this will eliminate a challenge and therefore you can't complete them all.

"How do I light a Nether portal without Flint & Steel?"
This is very simple to do, but it may take a few tries. The basic idea is to get your lava to light a piece of wood or something else flammable, and have the fire spread through the portal frame so it ignites, therefore activating it.
Step-by-step guide by iiTzWho
How to light the portal without Flint & Steel
It is actually really easy, if the wood burns out before it lights, try again
The rest will be in spoilers, each step in a separate spoiler
First Step
First, set up the portal (I wasn't in SkyBlock for this, therefor had 14 obsidian not 10)
Second
Set up the wood, and a little barrier so the lava doesn't go everywhere
Third
Place the lava down, let it catch fire to one of the planks, then grab it back up
Fourth
Both planks should be burning..
Fifth
The portal should be lit, if not - try again
Hope this helped somehow, good-luck with SkyBlock
TL;DR - Set up portal, put wood at base and back of portal, light wood at base, let it spread to back, BAM portal lit.

"How do I get gold ingots?"
Go to the Nether (with guide above) and make a platform there for zombie pigmen to spawn on. Kill them for gold nuggets. Once you have 9 gold nuggets, place them in a crafting table in a 3x3 fashion, which creates one gold ingot.

fireb0rn posted a message on [Adv]The Labyrinth - a dungeon map - third semifinal releasePosted in: MapsClick here to go to the Labyrinth 2 thread (release #3 out as of May 10th, 2011).
Map download:
(09/28) Release v.31 (new, mostly minor fixes)
Mediafire
(08/29) Release v.3
Mediafire
The Labyrinth is a dungeon involving the player battling through a variety of rooms, each with its own style and challenges. This is a map meant to be played in adventure mode, a game-type which Notch plans to release eventually. However, it is perfectly playable and very fun even now! Obstacles in this map involve battling through waves of mob spawners, jump puzzle areas, climbing levels, mazes, minecart obstacle courses, and more. This map is meant to be *hard*, although even beyond the in-game difficulty settings you can choose your equipment at the beginning to make things easier, or make the map even more challenging. On its hardest mode, expert hard, this map is extremely difficult and rage-inducing in a wonderful way. If you die at any point in the map, you'll respawn near a checkpoint area, where you can quickly restock on items and minecart back to the beginning of the last level you reached. Currently, the map should take you anywhere three to four hours or more to beat (depending on the difficulty level). There is a fair amount of replayability in the map, as well.
To do:- Add a sign at bottom of water staircase "get some speed first" or something like that. - Mobs are spawning in gentleman's lounge. - Pigs are trampling farm in middle tower. - Slimes spawning at bottom of tower. - Lots of lag in the first level. - Add a sign pointing to the ladder in the main tower.
Anyways, enough talking about it, here are some screenshots:
To install:
If you do not have a program you can use to access archives (I.e. winRAR, winzip, 7zip, etc), then go to
<!-- m -->
- download and install it.
Once you have a program to extract the .rar archive, go into whichever one of these folders corresponds to your operating system. Back up your world2 folder if necessary; this can be done simply by renaming the folder. Then use your program to extract the .rar to your saves directory.
Windows 7:

Windows XP:

Changelog:============= v.31 ============= - Changed checkpoint at the bottom of the wooden tower. - Added a checkpoint for the middle of the wooden tower. The entrance is located at the same spot as the other checkpoint. - Fixed an area in level one, where if you fell down you would not be able to get back up. - Re-arranged the mob spawners in the cacti room so they properly spawn monsters. - Widened the water staircase leading to the final level. - Added a pool of water at the bottom of the central tower. ============= v.3 ============= CONTENT: - Final level is added. There are four sub-levels (towers) which each span the height of the map and have diameters of 25 blocks - having between 10 and 20 floors each. A central tower will act as a new "base" / restocking or re-equipping area. The towers (except for one) also have checkpoints within them, which can be accessed from the central tower. You must activate all four of the switches which can be found in areas at the bottom of each tower to open the exit to The Labyrinth. Read the signs for more information. - Final level boat-ride entrance is added. This is accessed after the wooden-tower level. - A congratulatory final area has been added. :smile.gif: FIXES: /// Lava Jump Area: - Lighting has been improved to reduce random monster spawns. - You can no longer skip an area of the first jumping level. - One of the jumps in the first jumping level is fixed. - The upwards jumping area in the first level is now lit. /// Water Tunnel: - The number of monster spawners in the second (boatride/tunnel) level have been reduced. Beware though, as they are now more consistent. /// Dark Room: - You're now given a torch to use. - The secret is slightly easier to find. /// Glass Maze: - There is now only one bow in the glass maze room instead of two. /// Green Room: - Lighting has been improved to reduce random monster spawns. /// Pig Room: - Pig room is much less laggy now. Sadly, it doesn't look quite as good... but the pigs are spread out a bit more instead of only being on the sides. Overall it's an improvement. It is also a bit harder to skip the level. /// Minecart Level: - Lighting has been improved to reduce random monster spawns. - There are now buttons instead of levers so the state of the level is not preserved when you die. - TNT trap in the minecart level is removed, as it allowed players to use the TNT to enter the tower. /// Wooden Tower: - Lighting has been improved to reduce random monster spawns. - The wooden tower level now is glassed up a bit to prevent skeletons from shooting out. - Some floors on the wooden tower level have been balanced a bit better (been made easier). - The explosion for the TNT checkpoint should be much cleaner and safer. /// ETC: - A lot of the checkpoint chests have more swords in them. - There are no longer any gold blocks on the ground to provide a better experience for those with texture packs. - Snow will now fall when outside. - The number of chests in the respawn area is now significantly more adequate and will be able to accommodate the larger number of players in SMP. ============= v.2 ============= - Finished the minecart level. You are now required to hit switches, or you'll be tossed into lava or mob spawners. There is now a secondary path which you can walk down (there'll be a ledge you can hop down to). Glass now prevents you from hopping down to lower areas. - Added craftable golden apples for the secrets in the minecart level. A crafting table is at the bottom of the tree tower. - Added a checkpoint for the tree tower level. - Changed a few floors in the tree tower level so that zombies won't prevent you from moving up a floor. In certain areas of the tree, however, you'll have to bait zombies down before you can move up. - Modified the final floor of the wooden tower. It's not so easy and anti-climactic, now. - Added a few signs with helpful advice. - Fixed checkpoint doors so you can't hit the switches through the windows. - Reorganized the tips / rules wall so it isn't so difficult to read. Also, the starting/respawn room looks better now. - Added extra water buckets to the secret chest. There are now five of them. Don't use them all at once. - Removed a few bunches of meat that were bugged and infinite (not sure if they were actually in the first release). - Fixed a jump in the first level, which forced you to suicide if you missed it. - Added items to a few chests which I had forgot to put items into. - Added an exit to the secret area in the green room, which actually didn't have an exit before. :| - Added a secret area in level one. It requires the water bucket to enter. - Broke my mob trap so you won't hear mobs in the respawn room.

FlowerChild posted a message on Better Than Wolves Total Conversion!Posted in: Minecraft Mods
[*** WHAT IS BETTER THAN WOLVES? ***]
Better Than Wolves is a "total conversion". This differs from most mods that you are probably used to in that it changes many of the rules of play to provide a richer experience, rather than just adding in new stuff. What makes it special however, is that it always attempts to do so in a way that retains the original spirit of the game, perhaps even more so than the newer official releases.
It focuses both on challenging survival play, and player creativity in terms of never providing "magic block" solutions to in game problems. Instead, it provides basic tools and leaves it to the player to figure out how to use them to get the job done.
In short, Better Than Wolves is a vision of what Mincraft could have been, designed by a very serious player, for other like minded individuals.
[**** End Of Dev ****]
Please note that after a full decade, all development has ceased on Better Than Wolves. The final version (4.B0000003) can be downloaded here:

Basico 128x
CUSTOMIZER
You can use the customizer to use lower resolution textures, basically to convert it to 64x resolution, or lower.
DESCRIPTION:
I tried to do something extremely clean and simple, like many have already done with the 16x texture packs. A mixture of simple, semi-realistic textures and some imaginative ones as well. It's really something I'm working on for personal use, but felt like sharing. It's mainly for 128x, even though it is simple, as I feel it gives me more flexibility to add details here and there. Any positive criticism is always appreciated, and if you don't like it, don't post. Thanks!
RECOMMENDED MODS:
The More Paintings! MOD. It doubles the amount of paintings you can use, and makes switching between them MUCH easier. Basico's art file is optimized for the Xtreme edition of the mod.
The Water Shader MOD. It basically makes the water in Minecraft look, well, like water. Brilliant work.
GLSL Shader MODs. Yeah, totally new game.
NOTICE:

Ever wanted an HD texture pack that isn't too realistic or isn't RPG themed, that is just minecraft themed?
Minecraft Enhanced has been in developement for 3 years now, it has come a long long way staying currently updated since minecraft was in Alpha, it paved the way for a lot of the others.
This pack features "d3fin3d" Font because there is no reason to reinvent the wheel and this font is exactly what mine would look like, check out the authors thread at D3fin3d
Updated 6/3/2014 v1.7.9+

Update notes v1.7.9+- Added new wooden planks.
- Added Updated fish.
- Other various fixes.

GET MCPATCHER HERE FIRST, THIS WILL NOT WORK WELL WITHOUT IT! Lower FPS!!! MCPATCHER THREAD
Additional download InfoYou can still use this pack without MCPATCHER as of Minecraft 1.5, but it is recommended you stick to the sub 128x version, as the 256x version isn't playable without MCpatcher.
IF you Don't like the RANDOM grass and rocks/flowers via CTM mod, just simply delete the CTM folder from the pack and it will revert to vanilla!
NOTE: Due To massive changes in the 1.4/1.5 I have uploaded 3 different versions for compatibility reasons. Also MCpatcher seems to be quite buggy these last few versions, make sure you have Minecraft working with Default textures and MCpatcher before you install the pack or you will possibly get a black screen.
Also it is highly Recommended that you increase your java heap size to 3gb+ or CTM will crash the 256x Version on the pack!!!
For the Best Performance/Quality Ratio Feel free to mix and match the packs, new with minecraft 1.5 the textures do not need to be the same resolutions! So you can use 256x items with the 128 pack and get great performance results with little loss in quality!--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Documentation for old (pre-1.8) TMI
Better documentation for 1.8+ will be up shortly.
Turn On/Off: Press the "o" key while in the inventory screen. You can change this key by editing the configuration file.
Add items: Left-click on items in the right sidebar to add full stacks, or right-click to add one at a time.
Configuration file: Find the directory in which your minecraft saves folder and options.txt are, and once you have used TMI at least once you will also find TooManyItems.txt there. This contains options that you can change, not all of which are documented yet.
Spawners: In some previous versions, to create different kinds of spawners, edit the "spawner" line in the configuration file. Use at your own risk; in some (older) versions of Minecraft, spawners of non-mob entities such as boats can crash the game and wreck your save.
Unlimited stacks/tools (single-player only): Shift-left-click on items in the right sidebar to add unlimited stacks OR unlimited-use tools or flint and steel. ModLoader is required for "true" unlimited stacks. Without ModLoader the quantity of >64 stacks will refresh when you open your inventory.
Tabs: Use the chest, star, and book icons to change between the item, favorites, and enchant tabs.
Favorites: This allows you to save commonly used items. ADD to the favorites panel by: (1) clicking an item on the favorites panel, (2) alt-clicking an item in the items panel, or (3) clicking the Favorite button in the enchant panel. REMOVE an item from the favorites panel by alt-clicking it.
Enchanting: (in SP, or may work on some Bukkit servers) Click an item on the enchanting panel to switch to that type of item. Use the + and - buttons to change the levels of individual enchantments. Click the Create button to make the enchanted item once, or the Favorite button to add it to the favorites panel.
Trash (single-player only): Drop an item stack on the item sidebar or the trash icon to delete it. Click the trash icon to turn "delete mode" on and off (in "delete mode" you will delete any item you click on -- useful for selectively deleting a lot of items). Shift-click thee trash icon to wipe out your inventory.
Game mode: Click the "S", "C", and "A" icons on the toolbar for survival, creative, and adventure mode, respectively.
Time: Click the sun and moon icons to set the time to sunrise, noon, sunset, or midnight.
Difficulty: Click the creeper icon to toggle the difficulty without having to go into game preferences.
Health/hunger: Click the heart icon to set health and hunger to max.
Save states (single-player only): Several slots are available for you to save your entire inventory and restore it later. (The "x" button next to a saved state will remove it.) This can be used to save your "real" inventory before editing, save a blank inventory to clear out everything you're holding, save a full inventory of materials, share inventories between characters, etc.
Multiplayer: You need to be a server op. Also, every non-vanilla server works a little differently. The command issued to the server to give you items is configured in TooManyItems.txt as "give-command". In this command, you should put {0} for the player's username, {1} for the item ID, {2} for the quantity, and {3} for the damage value. If {3} isn't in the command, items with damage values other than 0 won't show up.
Vanilla server command: /give {0} {1} {2} {3}
* Since the vanilla server used to not support item damage with the give command, TMI may still have /give {0} {1} {2} by default. You can now add {3} to the end. The default will be updated in a future TMI version.
Bukkit with the Essentials mod command: /item {1}:{3} {2}
Fast crafting: Right-click on the output square when crafting to craft the maximum possible amount. (Works while the inventory overlay is disabled).
Troubleshooting
Crashes show an error report on a purple and white screen, and you can copy and paste the report into a post. With the latest version of TMI, most errors that would have crashed should instead show a chat message that says a report has been saved to a file in your minecraft folder, and you can copy and paste from that file into a post.
Black screens are caused primarily by: not deleting META-INF from your minecraft.jar, mod conflicts, wrong versions of mods, and improperly installing mods. Please check these things and, if necessary, start fresh from a new minecraft.jar as an old installation problem may still be causing errors.
"TMI doesn't show up": Press the "o" key in your inventory screen to turn TMI on and off. (Unless you have already changed this in your config file.) Your preference about whether TMI should be displayed is separate in single- and multi-player. If this still doesn't work, you probably did not install TMI correctly.
Notes: TMI's code does not run until you open your inventory. Problems creating games are something else. TMI does not change any crafting recipes. You are not forced to use fast crafting: just left click like normal instead of right clicking. Yes, TMI does work in multiplayer, but read the instructions. No, it is not a server mod. Finally, the number of pages of items depends on your Minecraft window size, so, you are not missing items because it doesn't have the same pages as in the screenshot.
Uninstalling: If you manually installed a mod, the only way to uninstall is to either restore your backup copy of minecraft.jar (you did make a backup, right?) or delete minecraft.jar and run the game launcher so it downloads a new minecraft.jar. If you used a mod manager, refer to its instructions.

Now with the proper NetherSphere!
Hello Everyone,
this is the very first map I have created and published.
This map is basically like SkyBlock but it you have a lot more room on the starting platform.
You also have access to ore's. (No Copyright intended to the creator of SkyBlock.)
- Coal Ore
- Iron Ore
- Gold Ore
- Diamond Ore [RARE]
There is also another island on the map that has some very valuable items (:
**CHALLENGES**
1. Make a cobblestone generator.
2. Go to the small island.
3. Grow Melons.
4. Grow Pumpkins.
5. Make an infinite water source.
6. Harvest at least 10 diamonds.
7. Make FULL iron armor.
8. Go to the Nether.
9. Make an enchantment table.
10. Make the journey to the mainland.
11. Make 3 different animal farms.
12. Make 10 Snow Golems.
13. Befriend 3 Wolves.
14. Make a mob trap.
15. Enchant 5 different tools.
16. Harvest some Glowstone.
17. Disable/Destroy 2 mob spawner's.

Please leave some ideas for some new challenges (:

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

about a month ago, i released a 16x16 version of this pack, it was called Jordy's Simplicity.
I admit, it had a bad name, and it was a low quality of work. Hopefully you will like this x128 version.
I do need some help finishing off some textures
They Are
-All Log Textures
-All Leaf Textures
-Gravel
-Sand
As you will see from the screenshots, I am going for a very simple, but a bit detailed kind of pack.
interested in helping out with those textures? Message Me!
Also leave comments for an idea for the name?
SCREENSHOTS!
As the title suggests it is still a work in progress, but it is updated for 1.2.4
It Can Be Downloaded Here (If You Want To)
