I finally fixed the issue I was having. What I did was uninstall java completely and then downloaded and reinstall it, deleted my minecraft folder, downloaded the newer minecraft.exe launcher(I had been using the same minecraft.exe file to launch the game since I purchased it back in alpha), logged into Minecraft.net and played in the browser in order to download all the files for the .minecraft folder, closed the browser and was finally able to log on via the launcher without getting "Login Failed".
I'm honestly not sure which step, or combination of steps, I used resolved the issue(probably the fresh install of java), but that's what I did and it worked, so I hope that helps at least one other person.

I am actually having this same exact problem. I decided to start playing minecraft again since I haven't played since alpha. I purchased a LEGIT version of the game. However, I attempt to sign in, and it says username or password not valid. However, when I enter information into the "forgot password?" page, it says it will send me an e-mail, which I never get. Assuming I have the incorrect e-mail associated with the account, I type in my e-mail, which gives me the same message "password sent." Again, I never get the e-mail... I have all of my spam filters turned off also. What can I do to get my game back. :sad.gif: I want to play again so bad!
I'll be sure to check all of this soon! Work has been kicking my butt lately, and i've had little time to get on the internet. Don't think I am trying to ignore you!! :biggrin.gif:
