All that I'm going to say about 1.9 haters:

For me, the sword cooldown makes sense (no more spam-click pvp!), but the lack of sword blocking stinks.

Have you ever heard of multiplayer servers? Also, some items you can only get from killing hostile mobs.

    Quote from Zarlog_Core24»

The spawn rate of hostile mobs has been buffed tremendously, and even when you go into a bed, the next day there will be lots of skeletons hiding under trees. This is really annoying when you just want to build something and have to keep dispatching hostile mobs. After every thunderstorm, you have to deal with 200 or more skeleton horse jockeys, and that is definitely going to cause some trouble when trying to build something.

So you think it should be easy to get monster drops? I used to be terrified of monsters and still have an aversion, but that is because they are monsters. As in creepy things that come out of the dark to eat people. They should be tough. The night is a dangerous thing. And as for the claims I have heard of Alpha and Beta old-school being more sandbox, it was much harder back then. No beds, charcoal, enchantments, potions, beef, chicken meat, mutton, etc. All the new stuff making it harder is to offset the stuff they added to make it easier. Mix it up instead of having the same boringness.

And you should have to FIGHT to build! Since Minecraft is like LegoTM blocks, it needs other obstacles,

im still upset by it but not because its not easy any

i have been playing the game since alpha and have played the game strictly survival since the beginning, i like to think that I'm half decent at the game. so I'm not so frustrated with the fact that its no longer easy, where my frustration comes from is more from the fact that minecraft is taking this shift in mentality. its slowly changed from a sandbox building game to more of an adventure fighting game. the update where they added the end proves there intenitons to further it as an adventure game with somewhat of a story. this does'nt make it a bad game just not what i want out of minecraft. i personally have never journeyed to the end to fight the dragon as a i find it pointless, im not playing to fight things, im playing to build the mines of moria from scratch without using creative.

i guess if people would rather an adventure game then a sandbox game who am i to stop it.

if they want Minecraft to be geared toward a younger community that wishes toadventure out, and fight each other and make pvp be a big part of the game instead of building i will just have to live with it. ill just have to find another sandbox building game.

i apologize if i come across pissy i was more interested to see if there were others out there feeling the same way. guess i was wrong

    (bows, farewell Minecraft)

I see your point and understand. But, in a way, they all go together.
There is always combat is minecraft, whether against players, monsters, animals, etc. So you admit, and like the difficulty against that.
But adding adventurous features without forcing them is part of the 'open-endedness'. Some build Moria, some are Indiana Jones, some are Jeremiah Johnson, some are dragon slayers, some are wizards, some are alchemists, etc. The beauty of Minecraft is that there is something in it for everyone, and each decides his own way. If one wants to focus on building and survival, that is always present. If another wants a story, they have that, too. There is no right or wrong way to play Minecraft.

And, lastly, consider this: The acheivement for killing the Wither is called 'The Beginning' and requires 'The End'. Once the bosses are dead, the world is limitless. Ocean Monuments, Desert and Jungle Temples, Abandoned Mineshafts, Villages, etc. are present. Some building blocks can be gained only through adventure. Plus, the End Poem is basically a polite way of saying, 'GET A LIFE!'.

Ppl hate it bc the skills of jitterclicking and strafe are now out the window. Jitterclicking is now less effective and killaura is an official thing in the game now that swords have a special sweep attack and you can just stand still and still hit ppl who are strafing you.

So strategy over luck and OPness is a bad thing? Huh.
The new system is easier for those of us with a mouseless craptop/

    Quote from VampArcher»

Just because all of the things you want in the game aren't handed to you, doesn't make it bad or too hard. The tipped arrows are obtained from dragon's breath, pretty straightforward. If that is almost impossible, you are doing something wrong. Wings take a while to obtain, like they should be. It would be absurd if it were any easier, all methods of transportation would become obsolete.

I have a theory that the real reason 1.9 is heavily disliked is, the player-base has been spoiled for years with just how easy the game is and now the game requires more effort to win at it, long-term goals and obtaining the best items aren't so easy anymore. They want to be able to dispose of any mobs easily, have the best stuff, and now players groan that it's now multi-step process. Just speculation.

That sounds about right to me. We should have to work for OP gear, not have it handed to us like a bunch of hackers.

    Quote from DrWeegee»

Saying kill aura is in the game is exaggerating extremely.
Except for the person you directly hit, it only deals 1/2 a heart, it only affects the area around the front you, in a much shorter range than the initial strike. It only activates when the recharge meter is full, you are not sprinting nor jumping, and you actually hit something.

Strafing is more effective than before. You have a reason to move around, and a target missing you due to strafing around is more rewarding, as they now have a delay before dealing full damage. To avoid the "Kill aura" attack you exaggerated about, simply bait them to attack, then dash in and attack yourself. Even if you got hit, the delay is just long enough for you to walk back into range and attack.

Exactly. Strategy is added! I despise spam-click and donation trolling.

I like 1.9 and stone ax see little over power but it good ( In Mineplex a lot of people get 9 damage instead of 5 damage from diamond ax)

The axe also has a long cool-down period that makes it inefficient for fast kills of things with a lot of health.

    • How someone should contact you: Quote this thread to compare, then Personal Message me for details; if we get to know each other a bit I might share my Skype
    • How long you've been playing Minecraft: Technically I started the demo in late December 2014, but I was noobzilla for months
    • Some things that you like to do on the game: I like most aspects of the game and enjoy having a fellow player who offers some variety; I like to restore abandoned mineshafts and turn temples into museums. I like to play the game using the acheivements as a guide, but recognise that it is an OPEN-ENDED sandbox game. Once all acheivements have been earned I like to build a metropolis (I have not made it that far yet). I much prefer 100% vanilla survival
    • Any additional things you want to say: Must not be crass, crude, or vulgar. I have a Twitch channel and an underdeveloped YouTube channel. I have my own occasional early server, but is hosted on my craptop. Schedule is almost non-existent, but I am unavailable on Sunday all year round, and from 00:00-12:15, 13:15-15:00 Monday-Friday during the school year (PST/PDT). Also involved in Boy Scouts. If there was a suitable match above, I apologise, but my requirements are somewhat specific, and there are now more than 1,000 posts.

EDIT: I also enjoy MineZ occasionally, and my personal server has never been tested with more than one player at a time.

I never knew older people played this game in these numbers till now. Anyways, care to play sometime? I've had no success finding anyone on here

16 is not old for a Minecraft player. There is a site called YouTube where people in their teens to 50's (probably older) upload Minecraft videos.

posted a message on We were all noobs once. What is your minecraft noob story?

I do not remember much, but I know I tried the demo somewhere around 1.8.2 or 1.8.3. I had no idea what the heck I was doing, so I grabbed the bonus chest supplies and started digging blocks. This went on for a LONG time, and I discovered a lava pool I could take water to, then the obsidian (which I had never heard of) stopped me. I asked someone about the 'place with all the lava' and thought is was the Nether. I did not know any crafting recipes, build dirt houses, killed rabbits, and got killed by monsters. Then I discovered creative mode, so I flew around, built brick houses, etc. Even after I bought the game and found the wiki and tutorials, I still stayed in creative mode for months. I stayed a nob for a while and am still more knowledgable than skilled.

(I demoed the game somtime after 2014 December 27, when I turned 13. I used the account my mum bought for my brother in March 2015 for a few months. I now own a premium account of my own.)

They don't like that it's making pvp harder. Most of the people who are hating on it are young and grew up with games that were easy and forgiving. Minecraft used to just be spam click a zombie and you win. Now, it actually takes some strategy, and most of those kids don't know how to play like that,

I agree very much with that, and that was one of my first thoughts about the negative reactions. I am not much of a gamer, I prefer cheap, Minecraftesque games, but I have a craptop with a touch pad. As a result, I am horrible at combat, especially PvP, and I think the donating, hardcore-gaming hardware, spam-clicking trolls who have done nothing but PvP on their gaming desktops with gaming mice and OP gear since they bought Minecraft are upset because PvP now involves strategy instead of SPAM-CLICK THE NEWBIE WITH OUR ENCHANTED DIAMOND GEAR!!! Finally, the moneyspenders' reign of terror is OVER!
