8m/1sec x 1km/1000m x 60sec/1min x 60min/1hr = 28800km/1000hr = 28.8km/hr is the max speed of a minecart.
1,000,000km will take 34,722 hours just to traverse via minecart. Or, more precisely, thats 1446 days 18 hours 12 minutes 57 seconds. Just to travel, assuming the max speed of a minecart. You gots to build this thing son.
Maybe you should make it 1,000,000 meters. Just sayin'. Thats only about 35 hours by way of comparison.

Apr 29, 2011The thing that is annoying about this achievement is that its not the length of track or even a radius from your starting point for that matter. Basically, when you get in your mine cart, you are placed in the center of an imaginary 2km square, and you don't get the achievement until you've left that square.Posted in: Achievements & Stats
If you go absolutely straight in any of the four directions, then you've made it out of that square using only 1000 pieces of track.
If you made a perfectly diagonal track, it would be 2000 pieces of track before you left the square.
If you made a spiral track, you would spend 4,000,000 pieces of track before you left the square.
Apr 28, 2011I've thought about this recently too.Posted in: Achievements & Stats
I think stats could make sense on a per world basis, and then there'd be an overall tally as well.
Achievements, I'm ok with just being overall. I really don't want to be doing them multiple times.
Some other things that I wish were on a per world basis? Textures and the difficulty level come immediately to mind.
Apr 27, 2011Its OK guys, I saw right through that attempted thread highjack.Posted in: Screenshots
When seeds were added, the 'glacier' seed was all the rage, so I'm sure plenty of people have seen these, but I'll post them anyway, because I absolutely love these mountains.
