Asir walked to the edge of the boat, and managed a smile, and even laughed. Ajax had fallen in the lake, laughing and spitting out water. Asir reached in to help him up. Asir knew that there were untold dangers still out here, and that they were not fully safe; However, Asir decided not to remind his allies, as they deserved this moment of joy. After the events in the city... No. Asir pushed those thoughts out of his mind. It was important to stay positive in a time like this.
There was a shore nearby, which had a shallow slope, perfect for bringing the boat up. "Hey, get up," Asir said to Ajax jokingly, "Let's get to land. This boat's making my legs wobbly."

He pulled out a musty old book, labelled Siege of the Hunters. Some of the pages were missing, but Ethan told them the gist - dragons once lived peacefully with man, but the Hunters did not want that, so they killed the dragons, except for these few dragons. "These eggs have been passed down for centuries with us Guardians," Ethan explained, "So that eventually, they would come to you guys. There are still a few eggs left - hopefully those little critters can decide on a rider soon."
"Now," Ethan explained. "You guys are Riders. It is your responsibility to care for the dragons, because you are basically attached to them, in a weird thing I can't explain. The description was kind of fuzzy in the old texts, but basically, we think that if you die, your dragon dies - and if your dragon dies, we don't know what happens. But it can't be good. We get to show you the right direction, ward off danger - but in the end, the dragon is yours to take care of. We're not releasing it - it's going to be yours." Ethan took a sip of his coffee, then spit it out. "Dang, too hot," he muttered.

Name: Ricgold Carter
Age: 19
Appearance: Ricgold has a heavy build, especially in his upper arms. He has short, spiky blonde hair, which does not appear to be groomed very often. He has 2 large scars on his forearm, from a Rathian. Ricgold has a dark yellow set of leather armor (like all new recruits).
Weapon: Hammer
Bio: Ricgold grew up in a small fishing village, called Fairwheat Village. His family were Whetfish fishers (Sharp fish, commonly used to sharpen weapons.) Once a month, they would sail over to Moga Village, a center of fishing trade, to sell excess fish. Ricgold learned to fish when he was 4 years old, and enjoyed it immensely. He fell in quite a few times, but luckily his father jumped in to save him everytime, laughing. His father learned to swim, and became one of the strongest swimmers in the village as he grew up.
One day, when he was 12 years old, Ricgold and his father were fishing out in the sea, without a care in the world. Ricgold hadn't caught a fish in about an hour, but he had patience. Soon, he saw a glimmer. It caught onto his rod, and pulled with force that Ricgold had never experienced with fish. However, Ricgold was stronger, and pulled the fish on up. It was a Goldenfish - one of the most valuable fish in the sea. His father immediately took it, and when they went to Moga Village that month with more Goldenfish that they caught from that spot, his family was rich! They wouldn't go hungry ever again!
However, Ricgold's family did not have the best of luck after that. About 2 months after they sold the Goldenfish, a Rathian showed up in town. It started breathing fire on the townsfolk and the buildings, causing mass havoc. Unfortunately, one of the citizens that died was Ricgold's mother. After the Rathian flew away, Ricgold and his father were devastated. The mental state of Ricgold's father went rapidly downhill. He started wasting the money they had earned on alcohol, and he stopped fishing. Ricgold had to work extra hard to sustain himself and his father as their money dwindled.
When Ricgold was 14, a group of Hunters showed up in Fairwheat. They offered a chance to train teenagers in the ways of Hunting. Ricgold was one of the first to sign up, as he did not want to have to deal with his father anymore. There was no hope left for him. Ricgold went off with the hunters, and trained with the use of the hammer. He trained hard over the next 5 years, working with the Hunters to perfect his skills. They had taken on a few Guild quests over the years, although the biggest threat they faced was a Great Jaggi. On Ricgold's 19th birthday, they told him that his training was done - he was independent now. Ricgold couldn't give up the hunting lifestyle, so he sailed to Port Tanzia, in hopes of adventure.

This world is much different from ours. It has a similar landscape, but the creatures are much different. You have docile animals, like the Kelbi - small, quick deer-like creatures, whose horns are valued for medicine; or the Aptonoth, which are very large herbivores, whose meat is valued all over. However, with every prey, there is predator to balance the habitat - but in this case, the predator is a lot scarier than that. You see, this world is inhabited by monsters - large, hostile creatures that will kill anything and everything it deems a threat. The large winged Rathalos and Rathian rule the skies, while the Lagiacrus and Plesioth rule the seas. The monsters of this world started to terrorize early human settlements. However, the humans fought back. They forged mighty weapons, and took on the terrible beasts. You are a Monster Hunter. You have just arrived in Port Tanzia - a bustling port city. It is more notable for its Hunting Guild, which supplies Hunters like yourself with the tools to fight monsters that threaten humans. You are here to join the Hunting Guild, and, along with your new allies, you will fight even the largest and rarest monsters!
Port Tanzia
The Guild
The Hunting Guild will supply you with quests on a bulletin board. You can choose to go out into the wild to fight monsters, or head into the arena with whatever gear the Guild decides to give you.
The Canteen
Small cat-like creatures called Felynes make you magical food with their paws. The food can give you a variety of buffs, like extra stamina if the food is fresh. Occasionally the Canteen will put a quest on the bulletin board; completing it will earn you better ingredients at the canteen.
Guild Store / Grandma
The Guild Store will sell you various items that will help you on your quest, such as herbs for healing, antidotes for poison, or trap tools for crafting traps. Grandma sells similar things, but also rarer ingredients for crafting, like the sticky Sap Plants for Paintballs or Pitfall Traps.
Forge and Weapon Shop
When you go out into the wild, you can gather ores and bugs, as well as plants. These can be used to craft various weapons and armor at the forge, or upgrade existing weapons and armor. Alternatively, you can buy lower level weapons and armor at the Weapon Shop.

2. Please no one-liners: I would ask that you keep posts to a minimum of 3 sentences.
3. Keep OOC in (( ))
4.I'll allow romance, but keep it PG-13.
5. Try to minimize swearing.
Weapons
Sword and Shield
The Sword and Shield (commonly referred to as S&S) is a lightweight weapon, which allows the user to move freely. It has the ability to block, as well as knock out a monster with the shield.
Dual Swords
The dual swords are similar to the S&S, but without the ability to block or KO a monster. A dual swords user sacrifices defense for very fast, fluid offense. The user can enter Demonization mode for a short period of time, which drains their stamina, but allows a nearly endless combo.
Long Sword
The long sword is a long, thin weapon, similar to Japanese katanas. Its attacks are of medium speed, but is unique among the two-handed weapons in that it does not impede upon the user's movement. The downside is that the user cannot block, but can execute a Fade Slash, in which he/she slices while dashing to one side.
Great Sword
The great sword is a large, slow weapon, which slows the user's movement when unsheathed. It does a large amount of damage, however. It has the ability to charge up attacks, resulting in absurd amounts of damage. You can block with the flat of the blade, and can KO monsters with the flat of the blade.
Hammer
The hammer is a large, slow weapon like the Great Sword, but does not slow movement as much. The Hammer does blunt damage, meaning it has a large chance to KO a monster if starts to become tired. Hammer users can charge up a powerful downward strike into the ground, or a long spin attack.
Hunting Horn
The Hunting Horn is very similar to the hammer, except that it is larger and does less damage. However, it has the ability to create tunes as it is swung, resulting in allies receiving buffs, like Movement Speed, Fire Resistance, Increased Stamina, and more.
Lance
The Lance is an extremely defensive weapon. The user is armed with a very large shield, and a lance effective at stabbing targets. The user can charge (albeit slowly) with the lance, stabbing through any targets that get in your way.
Gunlance
The gunlance is similar to the Lance, but does less damage. However, the front of the spear has the ability to shoot short-range explosive rounds at enemies.
Switchaxe
The switchaxe is a unique weapon, in that it has the ability to switch between a giant axe and a giant sword.
The axe mode is more effective when it comes to slicing limbs, and is slightly faster than Sword mode. In Sword mode, you can execute an endless combo, but move very slowly.
Light Bowgun
The Light Bowgun is a lightweight pellet launcher. It has a medium range and somewhat low damage, but allows for high maneuverability and rapid fire. It requires you to keep up with ammunition.
Heavy Bowgun
The Heavy Bowgun is similar to its brethren, the Light Bowgun, but it has a longer range and high damage. However, it shoots slowly, and forces the user to move slowly. It requires you to keep up with ammunition.
Bow
The bow shoots medium-long range arrows, with all sorts of varieties. There are rapid, spread, and piercing shots - these are the basic shots. There are more advanced shots, called Arc shots. There are Focus shots (rain arrows in a small area), Wide (more powerful than spread), and Blast (a very large arrow that explodes on a spot.) Bow users do not need to worry about ammunition

Monsters are divided into 11 categories.

It can create fire with its wingtips, banging them together like flintstones. Its beak and wingtips can be broken.

"My name's Ethan," he said quickly. "Now, time to get going." Sarah nodded, and started driving. Ethan told her to drive slowly - the dragon couldn't have gotten far, and they might pick up something.
Ethan was getting pretty tired, however. This had been quite stressful, and he was considering falling into dreamland...
Ethan jolted awake. Literally jolted - he zapped himself so that he could focus. Ethan stayed alert as they waited through the traffic. It was about 9:00 by now. After another 15 minutes of sitting in traffic, Ethan had lost hope today. He needed to recuperate at the base. Sarah pulled into the driveway of the small house, which Ethan decided needed a trim of the grass soon. "Welcome to fun times," Ethan said in a monotone voice. He unlocked the door and walked inside.
