EsnippleE posted a message on About chicken breeding...Okay, this is a relatively small suggestion that I feel is just large enough to have it's own thread. This is not a very high priority, but I feel that it would improve the game. This is not incredibly polished or set in stone and constructive criticism is appreciated.Posted in: Suggestions
Here's what I'm suggesting-
Firstly, chickens should not be breedable using wheat. It does make some amount of sense but it seems odd to me (they're not mammals) and there would be less of a point to it. Chickens are already the easiest animals to farm; there's no reason to have two ways to breed them.
Chickens would lay eggs less often, although still not an overly long time- just a bit. If chickens were fed seeds (by throwing them on the ground next to them OR just feeding them directly. If they can be fed by throwing food on the ground it should also be possible to feed other animals this way.) there would be a reasonably high chance (60%?) that they would go into a "fed" state for some amount of time. In this state, they would lay eggs much more often and would not eat any more until they were hungry again. There should be some visual cue for this, such as them moving slower when fed. Also, perhaps if chicks were fed they would grow quicker.
Eggs would possibly have a higher chance of hatching a chick, depending on how the balance works out.
One last thing- hatched chicks should identify the closest adult (if there is one within 10 blocks) as their mother if they don't already.
Why I think this is a good idea-- It gives another use for seeds
- It makes chicken farming harder
- You don't have to use it- it's just more efficient
- It makes you choose what to do with your resources
- It makes more sense

ACommonDrone posted a message on Cave ArtCaves are utterly boring. Aside from the occasional coal/iron/gravel deposit once you've seen one cave, you've seen 'em all. So, to brighten up your dreary makeshift home, a very interesting thing may happen, or should I say, happened ages ago. Cave Art!Posted in: Suggestions
Although technically a structure, Once-Inhabited-Caves will easily become a part of your minecraft life. As a matter of fact, these OIC'S aren't much different from any other cave, except for the art that was carved long before you discovered it.
Really its just a large mural made up of numerous stone carving blocks, with the carved parts facing the air blocks. The seven new blocks are called Cave Blocks. Each cave block depicts something an ancient caveman might of drawn:
"Small" Cave Blocks- These blocks are simply one block that depicts something, no multiple parts.
Cave Block 1 depicts an odd, small creature,
Cave Block 2 depicts two block people, one brandishing a stick and the other looking in awe,
Block 3 depicts a small hut-like home
Block 4 depicts a man or woman standing next to a hut-like home
Block 5 depicts a simple drawing of a diamond
Block 6 depicts a small tree
*Note*- Block 5 is rarer then any other block in OIC'S.
"Medium" Cave Blocks- These blocks require two blocks to be in close proximity for the picture to make sense.
Medium Cave Block 1 depicts the bottom half of a mountain
Medium Cave Block 2 depicts the top half of a mountain
Med Block 3 depicts a man throwing a spear
Med Block 4 depicts an odd, small creature with a spear in its chest
Med Block 5 depicts the bottom half of a tall tree
Med Block 6 depicts the top half of a tall tree
*Note* Block 2 always spawns on top of block 1, block 3 always spawns to the right of block 4, block 5 always spawns under block 6.
"Large" Cave Blocks- These blocks require three-four blocks to be in close proximity for the picture to make sense.
Large Cave Block 1 depicts the bottom left corner of an erupting volcano
Large Cave Block 2 depicts the bottom right corner of an erupting volcano
Large Block 3 depicts the top left corner of an erupting volcano
Large Block 4 depicts the top right corner of an erupting volcano
Large Block 5 depicts a man floating, with odd swirls around his hands
Large Block 6 depicts two men bowing to the floating man
Large Block 7 depicts a man running away from the floating man, while carrying a torch
*Note*- the first four blocks spawn in a logical manner , block 5 spawns in the middle of block 6 and 7, with 6 on the left side and 7 on the right.
*Special Thanks*
(Thanks to peppertyce for the idea of making more intricate blocks made up of several different blocks,such as the mountain which was in the original post. Thanks to Bocaj1000 for mentioning a hunting scene ((med block 3 and 4)). Thanks to Desructoid17 for the idea of a creepy/supernatural scene ((large block 5, 6 and 7)) Big thanks to bigkaboom12 for making this impressive banner, code below)
Now each of these Cave Blocks are simply stone that has been carved to make the shapes, and each block is mined like stone, giving you the art block itself. Each block has the same picture printed on the four horizontal sides of the block, and the bottom and top both looked like regular stone, but scratched.
The mural itself randomly spawns within the cave, on any side except the opening, the art blocks themselves spawn in great numbers, perhaps 9-17 of them per cave.
The cave itself is large, at least 11 blocks long and 8 blocks wide, with the ceiling 5-7 blocks from the ground.
(Banner, courtesy of bigkaboom12:[url=http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1401575-cave-art/]
So randomly generating caves with ancient murals containing aesthetic blocks you cant find anywhere else. Sounds cool aye? -

redsand posted a message on Buckets of snowI thought it would be nifty if there would be a way to get and place fallen snow (the thin layer from when it snows) in survival. You would pretty much be able to right click on fallen snow with an empty bucket and you get a bucket of snow. When you right click on a block, it would place the snow down. Since buckets hold about a block of something, you would be able to collect ~8 fallen snow before the bucket is filled. Maybe in the hotbar there could be a little x2 or x3, etc. to indicate how full the bucket is.Posted in: Suggestions
Another thought is you could stack them and have various heights like in this picture:

Tom_Tzu posted a message on Milestone BlockF3 somehow feels a little bit like cheating. It's the debug screen,and I have a lingering fear that one day, when Mojang is confident the code is really stable, they may remove the debug feature from public versions of the game. Even if they don't, it still feels like I'm stepping outside the game reality when I use it to determine my XYZ coordinates.Posted in: Suggestions
Yet those coordinates are extremely important in-game data in some contexts. There's rarely any other practical way to direct another player to a location in a big map, especially early on if you're trying to help a new player find your settlement.
So wouldn't it be nice to have an appropriate in-game mechanism for determining coordinates?
Here's what I propose: a craftable block which would have a text window (like a sign) on each fact that indicated the X,Y and Z coordinate of the block. It would be crafted from a smooth stone block, along with a compass, a clock, and a piece of string (standing in for a plumb line).
You could place these milestone blocks at important reference points around your map, or to save on costs, you could just carry one around to use as a surveying tool, placing and removing it and leaving behind a cheaper wooden sign as the permanent marker. (Of course, wooden signs wouldn't be as authoritative; someone could post one with false coordinates, which you couldn't do with the milestone block.)
This could be very useful in dividing up real estate and establishing borders, and also in building roads, rails, and redstone communication networks. -

Eraed posted a message on Giant Pack SnailPosted in: Suggestions
Here we have our friend, the giant snail with his pack and saddle on. They spawn naturally in the swamp biome (and maybe the mushroom biome) in small groups and travel slowly about eating grass. Like most mobs they will follow you and breed if you hold wheat.
The fun part comes when you attach a saddle to them. Saddles may need to be craftable again if fitting. The giant snail is a faithful animal which will wait on you until you choose to ride it. It travels only slightly slower than walking and can't jump, but can simply glide up blocks in a similar fashion as a minecart. The advantage of the Large Packsnail is it's ability to freely carry two full chests worth of supplies.
Note that the Large Snail will continue to travel forward (W) until ordered to stop (S). They can not reverse and turn slowly (A,D) which does not effect your own ability to turn and look via mouse. This decreases the tedium of long journeys as you organize your inventory and write journal entries.
The Large Snail isn't normally attacked by other mobs and is never aggressive, yet it does have a considerable amount of health. While riding your Packsnail however, it will take on the brunt of hostile attacks in your place. This, combined with it's strong shell, makes for a formidable defensive position against mob swarms. The snail will slowly regenerate health as it moves over tall grass which it will eat.
This is not yet a mod though the model would work just fine for this purpose. if anyone would like to use the model, PM me. - To post a comment, please login.

In Texas I believe, somewhere near the south, a couple that already had about 5-6 kids or so were thinking about having another one. However, the couple ended up agreeing that the father would remove the possibilty of...you know...um. I don't know how to say it...I'll just say that the father was 'fixed' so that the couple couldn't have any more kids.
The doctor who does the operation asked why, and you know why?
The couple read an article that 1 in 10 children in America are MEXICAN. They didn't want a Mexican child because they didn't speak 'mexican.'
People can be really stupid.

The first thing you will need to do is to craft an Emaciater.
Let = Iron Ingots
=Regular Piston
= Redstone
CRAFTING RECIPE:
An Emaciater is used to mash things into a dust. The GUI is very much similar to that of a Furnace, as it requires a fuel source, such as Coal or Charcoal, an input and an output.
The available inputs are Iron Ore and Ingots, Gold Ore and Ingots, Charcoal, Coal, Steel Ingots , Raw Coke and Coke.
The available outputs are Iron Dust, Gold Dust, Charcoal Powder, Coal Powder, Steel Dust and Coke Powder.
NOTE: Coal Powder and Charcoal Powder can not be resmelted into their original forms.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gold Dust can be used to create Fine Gold Clumps, which are used to make Fine Gold Ingots.
Fine Gold Clump Crafting Recipe:
Let = Gold Dust
=2 Fine Gold Clumps
Then, you smelt the Fine Gold Clumps and you'll get one Fine Gold Ingot. Fine Gold Ingots can be emaciated to get 4 Gold Dust back, not the Fine Gold Clumps.
Fine Gold Ingots can be used to make Gold Wire, which is a way to transport redstone power along the side of walls, since Gold in real life is highly conductive to electricity. Gold Wire can be placed on walls, and on the floor as well, AND will repower the redstone line, similarly to what a repeater does, but there is no small delay. To craft Gold Wire, you will need Fine Gold Ingots.
Let = Fine Gold Ingot
=4 Gold Wire
Fine Gold Ingots can also be made to create a Crown, which can be worn. In order to create the crown, you need Fine Gold Ingots and Diamonds.
Let =Fine Gold Ingot
=Diamond
Crowns are worn like helmets, and just show a little class. Crowns have 100 durability, and only adds 1 Armor Point. It isn't really used for defense, just for showing who's in charge.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Coal Powder can also be used to make Coke(Not the soda, the type of fuel). In order to do so, you must smelt the Coal Powder and create Raw Coke. Then, you must emaciate the Raw Coke to obtain Coke Powder.
Finally, combining 4 Coke Powder in a crafting grid will give you one Coke.
Let = Coke Powder
=1 Coke
Coke can be used as a fuel source with a 900 second burning time(being the second best fuel source, first being the Lava Bucket). Coke can be emaciated, but you will obtain 4 Coke Powder, which can be smelted to get Raw Coke (or simply recrafted into the single Coke), which can be Emaciated to get Coal Powder.
You can also make a Blast Furnace, which only allows Coke to be the fuel source, and it only smelts ores. The recipe is:
Let = Raw Coke
= Brick
Blast Furnaces wil double the amount of ingots given from a single ore. However, only pure Coke can be used to smelt the ores. The only inputs are Iron Ore, Gold Ore, Redstone Ore, Diamond Ore, Lapis Lazuli Ore, Coal Ore, and Emerald Ore.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You will need to emaciate Iron Ore(or Iron Ingots) into Iron Dust and will also need to emaciate Charcoal or Coal to make Charcoal/Coal Powder in order to obtain Steel Ingots. Then, with these, you can make 1 Steel Dust.
Let = Iron Dust
= Charcoal Powder or Coal Powder
CRAFTING RECIPE:
(It is a shapeless recipe)
Then, with your 1 Steel Dust, you must smelt it to obtain one Steel Ingot.
Now of course, you can make Steel armor and tools, which will be between Iron and Diamond.
However, you can also make things such as a Steel Oven, Anvil, Steel Fence, Hammer, Block of Steel, and a Intersection Track.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Steel Ovens
Let = Steel Ingots
=Furnace
= 1 Steel Oven
Steel Ovens are basically the upgrade to Furnaces. I originally had Steel Ovens be WAY to overpowered, so right now they simply just smelt items much faster and require less fuel(coal, charcoal, wood, etc.) to cook a single item.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anvil
Let =Steel Ingots
. .
= 1 Anvil
Anvils are a way to upgrade/repair items. When right clicked, a GUI will open up. There will be an input, an output, a hammer slot, and a material slot. The input will be any tool or armor needed to be repaired or upgraded. The hammer slot is where the Hammer goes.
Hammer crafting recipe:
Let = Steel Ingots
= Stick
.
Hammers can only be made with Steel. No Diamond hammers. Hammers will lose its durability for each repair or upgrade you do with it. Hammers will lose much more durability for upgrading however.
Hammers have 15 uses. For a repair, it is used once. However, for one upgrade, it counts as being used 5 times. That way, you can't easily make Iron Pickaxes into Diamond, because you will require quite a bit of Steel in order to do so, which isn't that easy.
The material slot is where the material of the tool/armor goes. For example, a Diamond Sword will require a Diamond to be placed in there. Leather Armor will require a piece of Leather to go there, etc. However, this is for repairing your tools or armor. In order to upgrade, you place the next tier material in the slot.
So lets say you have a Stone Pickaxe, but you want to make it Iron. You would put an Iron Ingot instead of Cobblestone in there, and you will get an Iron Pickaxe. However, this makes the Hammer lose quite a bit of durability.
NOTE: Hammers can be repaired, but not upgraded, of course.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Steel Fence
Let = Steel Ingot
Steel Fence are just a decorative block that looks quite nice.
It would like this:
Just for decorative purposes.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Block of Steel
Pretty self explanatory. Pretty much like every other Ore Blocks. But for the sake of it:
Let = Steel Ingot
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Intersection Track
Let = Steel Ingot
=Stick
=4 Intersection Tracks
These will allow Minecarts to go through all 4 directions of this track. Here's a pic:
The area in the very center is the Intersection Track, while the roads would be regular rails.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the future I might add some ideas, but these are it for now!
Thanks for reading!

Sandstone Pressure Plates
With the 1.3 update, Pyramids are being added, and these structures have a booby trap that activates TNT. But the pressure plate is so visible. Why not add Sandstone Pressure Plates then? It would make the trap much more devious. And, the crafting recipe would be so simple like all the other pressure plates, as it uses only two sandstone(also chiseled and smooth sandstone make the same pressure plate).
Obsidian Pressure Plates
This special pressure plate makes it so only the Player can step on them. That way, no mobs enter you're magestic home and beat the crap out of you(despite the odds of that even happening ). Like all the other recipes for the pressure plates, it would only cost two obsidian.
Glass Pressure Plates
This pressure plate only activates when an animal steps on it or when it is raining or snowing. With this, you can make mob traps for only animals. The crafting recipe would be two glass.
Brick Pressure Plates
Exactly like Stone Pressure Plates, they have no extra purpose. Mainly for decorative reasons,or to make a less obvious pressure plate in a brick building. Crafted with two brick blocks.
Nether Brick Pressure Plates
This pressure plate makes it so only hostile mobs can activate it. The crafting recipe would be, obviously, two Nether Brick.
Diamond Pressure Plates(Originally Iron, but I changed it to Diamond)
These Pressure Plates are special where they can be edited. What I mean by edited is that by right-clicking it, you can set to what activates the pressure plate. This can range from specific mobs, items, the Player only, or even rain or snow. That way, you can make specific traps for specific mobs or make some cool redstone stuff. However, due to its variety of settings, I have thought that this idea would be much better as creative-only.
Those are my ideas! Thanks for reading!
