    With the forums shutting down soon, do you have another place where we can get your maps and stay in touch with any news or new maps that you're working on? e.g. a Discord channel or something? I love your maps so I don't want to lose touch!

    Sower Monument Complete! Phew!



    That was a tough one. Definitely harder than Corona Trials. I think I ended up with 62 deaths...!


    In regards to the mechanics you tried, I really noticed the different spawning in the final area. (more discussion on that in the spoilers, with minor spoilers)



    Having a dark space around the "outside" of the mansion, with no mobs anywhere, forcing them to spawn just in the final hole, proved to make that area even more difficult. Sneaky!




    I think I forgot about the ability to spam the sword which probably showed in the death count ;) The food mechanic was good - its always satisfying when food goes straight to your hearts. Although I'm not sure I ever made sense of the food bar replacement.


    Also calling it a "mini" map is definitely selling it short - it ended up taking me over 14 hours to complete (37 episodes, around 22 mins each, plus lots done off camera). That's not much less than what it took to complete Corona Trials (40 episodes). I think it would be more descriptive to classify it as at least a half-ctm, and even that may not be quite right.


    Despite all those deaths though, I thoroughly enjoyed it! It was very challenging. Thank you so much for all your hard work! I'm looking forward to trying out Calamity Canyon soon.

    Hi Render,


    I'm trying out The Sower now, and really enjoying it so far.


    I played Corona Trials earlier in the year and thoroughly enjoyed it. I especially liked having the Emeralds as a secondary task. It really gave a good reason to explore each area more. I ended up finding 25 out of the 27. Alas one of them was blown up (along with me and the rest of my stuff!). And there were two that I scoured the world for but just couldn't find.


    I really enjoyed its progression, and the detail you put in to each level was fantastic. I did die 42 times (ahem) but that is perhaps more an indictment of my skills than of the difficulty of the map ;) But I didnt die in the Nebula Citadel! (Although an errant Ender Pearl throw left me with half a heart - it was a close thing!). I didnt solve that mystery puzzle room in that foresty area (you know the one I mean!). I had a theory on how to but alas never got the right items (I probably threw something away earlier that I should've kept).

    Not at this stage - I keep getting distracted by playing Minecraft! At the moment I'm playing two custom 1.7.10 packs, a custom 1.10.2 pack and I'm thinking I've trying out Sky Factory 3 too. So much Minecraft! I'll do an update eventually but I don't have a release date in mind at this stage.

    That would be nice - I was thinking of potentially adding ways to break the actual blocks in-game with a special tool, rather than creating new blocks with the same textures. For example make Kaiyus occasionally drop a special hammer or tool that could break the kaiyu blocks - you'd have to still work your way through the temple to get the special tool. Not sure if that would be possible though. Just using the textures would be easier.

    So about a month ago I spent about 6 hours working on the 1.10.2 update. In a word: frustrating. I did make some progress but not nearly as much as I would have liked. It's not very satisfying having to re-write something that already works perfectly well in one version, just so it will work exactly the same in another. Blerk. Very disheartened by the update process, so it's on the backburner for now.

    But the good news! I've been playing with some more awesome 1.7.10 mods, so I'll continue to add trophies when I get the time. High on the list are Hardcore Ender Expansion, Takumi Craft and Arcana RPG. Haven't decide whats next yet though or when I'll have time to add them, but hopefully "soon"!

    Mod makers can do lots of different things with entities (mobs), and unfortunately they don't always work as trophies: the trophies dont draw on the screen correctly, or nothing appears at all, or even worse it crashes the game. I'll spend a little time investigating, but I can't spend hours figuring out why a single mob isn't working - you'd never get any trophies at all if I did that! So if it doesn't work properly, I leave it out, and focus on those ones that do work.

    Good question! I haven't decided yet. I will be including the mobs in the Advent of Ascension 2.5 snapshot, but as for new mods, not sure yet.

    I do need to update to 1.10.2 & 1.11.2, but that is a longer term project and won't be ready for quite a while yet.

    Hi everyone! Post some pictures of your trophies with stands! I want to see what blocks you've used (out of curiosity!).

    Alas no. The Foliaath was giving a strange error when rendering (not crashing because I have some special handling in the trophies to avoid crashing) but it was rendering as an upside down pig (the "fallback" rendering if trophies aren't rendering correctly).

    Mowzies Mobs is Open Source so I had a brief look at the code to see if there was something I could add to the trophies to get it to work, but I couldn't find a quick way to work around it. So no Foliaath trophy. I also had a look to see if I could stop the Barakoa dudes from "twitching", but again no quick fix yet. But at least those guys do render ok.

    I reckon the Barakoas are my favourite of all mobs - those guys are so cool!

    If you decide to do trophy stands it would be great if you would make trophy stands from blocks of the compatible mods so we could have some diversity. And maybe some varity, like 2-3 stands for each mod.

    Looking good for a release this weekend. One more sword texture to go, then playtesting. Oh and I'm still deciding on Aether sword names - suggestions welcome!


    And no one asked about the little cobblestone stands in the preview screenshot...


    ...so I'll tell you anyway! Toying with the idea of (optional) trophy stands. Cobblestone texture is just for testing - it will be something else. Probably won't be in next release as I don't want to delay it. So coming soon - maybe!

    Hehe, yeah, real life does get in the way. I only have about an hour of free time each day during the week. Maybe. So sometimes I just don't feel like modding (especially since I've been programming all day anyway). I'm aiming for a release next weekend (aiming, not promising! But I'll try!). But I am glad to hear you're excited!

    Working on the swords for Abyssalcraft and Aether II. Happy to hear if you have any suggestions for ingredients or names.

    For Abyssalcraft the Tier 1 sword will probably include Coralium Pearls and Shadow gems etc - stuff you can get in the Overworld. Tier 2 will require some Dreadlands stuff.

    For Aether II, still figuring that out. I'm in the process of exploring it, so still getting an idea of rarity of things.

    I like to have a different focus for the different worlds. My 1.7.10 is based on exploration (lots of dimension mods), whereas my 1.10.2 one is a bit more of an "all-in" mod, with all sorts of mods - tech, magic, all sorts. It's good to have choice!
