I'm getting the same timeout issue. It's got to be on minecraft's end because I have no other connection issues with any other service.

posted a message on Microsoft/Mojang Deal Confirmed.
I think that Minecrosoft doesn't need to change much in order to get massive profits from Minecraft. The greatest worry is of course how they are going to monetize current players, but don't forget that for every person who gets bored with MC, 2 or 3 more will join and stay. Don't forget that MC has always spread word of mouth. After all, when was the last time you saw a commercial on TV or internet for Minecraft? Maybe Microsoft knows how to access a vast, untapped market that Mojang was never able to, or desired to pursue. Of course there are issues about mods. I could see potentially MS letting people create mods, but making sure to do some quality control. Not that the minecraft modding community has an issue with people releasing xxx themed mods or anything.

One thing that would be hilarious though, would be if MS does make modding illegal, and goes after certain community members in a lawsuit. Then Notch comes in with his billions and defends them. That would never happen, but it would be ironic to have MS be counter-sued using money they themselves once had.

posted a message on EULA Revisited: an Updated Q&A From Mojang
What about offering out of game perks, like a VIP forum or perhaps access to maps or strategy guides? How about having special secret recipes that anybody can access, but a donator could have access to out of game information? It would give them an advantage, but it would not nessicarily be game-locked content.

posted a message on A plan for the Future of Minecraft Servers
I think that's the whole thing. I can understand running a server as a hobby, but as a business? I really hate to make this analogue, but in another fandom that I belong to, there are people who try to make a living selling unlicensed items at conventions and stuff like that. Some of them get C&D orders from the company, and the fandom is rather upset by it. I certainly side with Mojang on this one. I think people are upset not as much that there is a User's Agreement, but that Mojang is in Sweden and that somehow means that they are immune from the BS that the United States deals with. I think with Mojang being independent, and not in the pockets of EA or something like this, that people feel it's okay to use their assets as they see fit.

A major contributing factor to why the agreement must be accepted might have to do with the backlash from that one Minecraft con, Meeting of the Mines, which was totally BS and a horrible display of the Minecraft brand. This is Mojang's answer to that. It makes perfect sense really.

Lapis isn't hard to get if you know, MINE for it. Also villagers sometimes trade lapis too.

posted a message on Mysterious Debug Screen Feature from Hell (or the Nether… Whatever)
It works on overworld portals too. From what I see, it tells you the orientation of the portal, and it seems to tell you if the portal will drop you off at a different set of co-ordinates than where it currently is. I think that is due to portals needing a place to spawn, so all that info tells you is that you will either land or not land on the exact co-ordinate in the other dimension. As for the bit flags, it might be info on which bit flags are set and which ones aren't. Since nether portals have a north/south and and east/west orientation, the bit might toggle between which way it's facing.

posted a message on Carrot Arrows | Best thing since real arrows! [32 Supporters]
Interesting idea, but let's go a little further with that. How about a Food Fight mod? Instead of just carrots, have a special bow type that will take food from your inventory and throw it. Shoot a friend and they fill their hunger bar. Shoot an animal with a food they use for breeding and you can sit there shooting cows with wheat, or chickens with seeds. You can fire pumpkins and melon blocks and when they land, they make a giant splat. Maybe toss slimeballs too, and a hit will freeze an entity for a little bit. Instead of working like arrows, instead it will use food that's on your hotbar, going from the leftmost slot to the right. Oh yeah, if you fire raw chicken or rotten flesh, it will cause those status effects. It could even be used to launch TNT or any other block that becomes an entity at some point, like gravel and falling sand.

I would support the idea as a mod, but for pure vanilla.

    ...too bad end_portal_frame isn't an entity. :(

You know if you can attempt to teleport to it, you already have chests on in which you can just go into spectator mode with a potion of night vision and x-ray it. As for why this works, my guess is when you enter the command, you can optionally skip entering your name since I think the game auto targets you if no name is given. Pretty sure that it wouldn't work in a command block.

You can also do /say @e

    and then

/tp [Your Name] [UUID of ANY entity]

to teleport to that specific entity!

My point is that it doesn't work if you specify your own name. Actually if you specify your name, but leave everything else blank, you teleport to yourself.

    wait, what?
    That's awesome!
    If it worked..

Does it only work on the new snapshot, 1.79, or what? x3 Tried the commands said above /tp rockyroxay @e[Type=Cow] And it tells me the player cannot be found. I suppose it is, or this wouldn't be in the updates forum.

You have to leave the player name blank. To teleport to a cow, all you need is "/tp @e[type=Cow]" Nothing else. What will happen is you will teleport to every cow within the loaded chunks, and you will stop at the last cow on the list. You can try this too with chests inside minecarts or dropped items. Also this is 1.8 latest snapshot only. Not sure if it works on earlier snapshots or not.

Have bedrock be minable, but only if you use a diamond pickaxe with Silk Touch, and to get it, you have to stand on layer 1 and dig directly down, and you also need to be on hardcore mode. Oh and you must be squarely on the block, no halfsies.

Correct me if I am wrong

You are wrong. Villager should have a capital "V". Also interesting enough is you need to not use the player name for it to work. You can send a mob to your location just fine, but if you reverse it, it won't work. That's why I wonder if it's a bug.

All I did was type in /tp @e[type=whatever] and it teleports me around all over the place. I can just do @e and I will go everywhere, or I can select a mob type and it will send me all around until it reaches the last one on the list. I can even warp to minecarts with chests inside them or villagers as long as both are within range. Come to think of it, I wonder if this is actually a bug?
