Map Title: Eronev Mansion Adventure
Map Type: Adventure
Map Link: clicky
Do I Need: (Texture, Person, Mod) Nope to all
Comments: There is multiple endings and it's pretty long. To get an accurate score I ask that you try for the "best" ending, however keep in mind there is 4 different endings depending on what you do. There is also a bunch of side missions and extra tasks.
Hope you enjoy it and I look forward to your score :smile.gif:
FYI to all map makers. Starting with POOR PETE'S PUMPKIN PROBLEM, I am formally adding a new criteria to my "progression" score; Clear delineation between "in character" and "out of character" notes/signs.
I've seen this done VERY well in some maps (e.g. The Clock), and in some maps I can't tell if who is supposed to be aware of the information.
In my mind, there are 3 possible types of information;
1 - In character signs. These are signs on buildings that occur "naturally" in the world. e.g. the name of a shop on it's sign, or signposts at roadsides
2 - In character dialogue. These are words said aloud by other NPCs to the character, or thoughts that the character has.
3 - Out of character narration. These are thoughts/directions for the PLAYER, that the character may not be aware of.
I consider this to be an 'advanced' topic required to get a 4 in progression.
I have only just realised I have never posted in this thread. So here I am, posting in it. I also have something to say!
In game signs and notes I found are one of the hardest things to control especially in terms of in character, out of character, etc. In my map I used "quotes" when a person spoke, but I found it tough to differentiate between me telling the player, and the player "thinking" what I wanted them to think eg: You see a ravine but think it might be unsafe to jump in. could be both me as a creator telling the player, or me imposing thoughts onto the player to tell him/her what he should be thinking at that moment in time.
Now I've seen a few methods and one you mentioned about signs being on different coloured blocks, but how do you think about that ruining the immersion? I mean signs are bad enough, but then also seeing brightly coloured wool behind them.
I'm not exactly sure where I was going with this post.
Yeah I wont be adding anymore content, but I will have to continue to fix any bugs that show up. There was a big empty space near the village that I wanted to fill, and now that I have I'm happy with it. This is the final version, content wise, that will be released.
Yeah, I just did that.
This map is intriguing, fun, funny, long, (but not too long), diverse, original, has multiple endings, dynamic NPC's (No mods required), holy crap this list is long. Its pure epicness. (Is it epicity? IDK) You deserve so much praise, but, you are not without flaws. Review time.
New version is out, all upgraded for 1.8.1 Sprint till your heart is content. Additional content featuring an extremely hard parkour side quest spanning the whole map. I look forward to seeing some new scorecards with the parkour trophy!

Just today I was thinking about making a post telling people to stop! Stop making all those posts looking for someone. Stop making all those posts "wanting partner for youtube!!" and Stop posting WIP's. Why are you making a new post for a crew, when there is already 5 of them on the page? They're not getting filled, what makes you think yours will? Also WIP? More like... w... I got nothing. But they suck. I want to play a full, complete map. Want a partner for youtube? Go outside and make some friends or... god forbid... actually respond to one of the million threads that are ALREADY MADE looking for someone.
That's what I was going to write. But you pretty much did that. So now I wont have to!
I once posted a WIP (before I posted eronev, go look it up, link below) but after a couple of posts and no responses I thought "screw it, I'm just going to make my map" and I'm glad I stopped wasting time trying to get feedback on a WIP when I just wanted to make my vision. Now it's one of the top rated Adventure maps here. So yeah.
So I just went to fix those and at least on the first 2 there is no issues. It looks like Endermen were at it! The damn mob was taking down my border so people could explore more?! Will be great when Notch finally nerfs them.
Thanks for the last one though, fixing that one now :smile.gif:
This is the first version so if a few people can test the borders of the map (They should be made so that people can't "escape")
This post was originally to get help before the release... but I decided to release it and found this post still on the front. So if a mod doesn't like the double thread, feel free to delete it :smile.gif:
