posted a message on Looking into building a server
You sound pretty inexperienced with servers, I recommend trying out a few before making one yourself. Making players stay depends on stuff like freedom, originality and first impressions. Don't make the spawn too big, and give players goals and reasons to keep playing. Have a healthy amount of plugins, if you don't know any simply join some servers and figure out what plugins that makes the gameplay more interesting. Factions and mcmmo are the two major gameplay plugins. Essentials is a must-have along with wordedit. Worldguard and bordercraft can prove themselves useful too. Themes like zombie apocalypse, skyrim and fallout attract players easily. If you have a more unique and uncommon theme you can go even further.
Again, play some more and learn more about servers. Nobody wants to play on a random enthusiactic noob's playground.

You can't stop him if he has hacked your server files like that, if you're using a host like beastnode he has most likely changed your password. If he went through all the trouble of hacking into a computer so he can spawn some mobs, let him. He deserves it...

Wasteland servers have always been a popular theme, if you want an infinite desert I recommend the Biome plugin you can find somewhere on bukkit.org under world editing. I'd supply a link but I'm on my cell right now.

    You could remove the cork.

In all seriousness the only real way is worldedit, or you could use the command line version mce.py, in my experience its faster. But regardless it WILL take a long time to do, there are probably tens of thousands of blocks that it has to check and replace.

That's what I feared, thanks for the tip though I'll check out the command thingy.

No he doesn't want it filled, he wants to remove the water so theres empty seabed, which will become cliff's and such after that, its a wasteland after all, the water is long vaporized.

That said, i don't know of any immediate plugin, worldedit's //replace water air might work, but like you said that takes a loooong time.

//drain might work, but thats even worse i think.

There's a //drain command? Guess I oversaw that, haha. Oh and the replace command works, but it bugs up the water outside where I edited it and makes long streams that won't go away without some effort and manual building.

Thanks for the advice both of you, I'll try them now

So yeah, I'm making a server with a wasteland-type setting and I'm trying to make a fun-unique world. I used worldEdit on an ocean to take away the water and the bottom looks very awesome without water. I need a big area (5000x5000 blocks), but the water gets glitchy after using worldEdit. It also takes a shitload of time to do.
I just want to know if there's an easier way, like a plugin that can remove water under world generation or something.
Also, if anyone knows how to remove flowing water with worldedit tell me, it's pretty much the major problem...

    Thanks

There's no such thing as inventory hacks...?
Last time I checked you can't modify server files with hacks
And x-ray can't really be stopped unless you have that plugin which makes stone appear as iron ore.

I played San Andreas and such when I was like 7, been swearing since I was 8 and I knew how sex worked at 6, yet I don't feel ****ed up in any way. I might have questionable thoughts sometimes, but yeah, who doesn't. Most people like you described simply shake it off once they grow older.

Woah! The exterior is leaving me speechless. Can you please post more interior pictures? I think I'm going to make this the spawn of my server, if it's okay with your brother of course.

Honestly, I don't think the majority of people would bother with helping someone who doesn't bother checking if their IP is working.

Ï'm kind of good at guitar, but my fingers have always been made of :obsidian: so I never had any pain stopping me from practice. I suppose you should just play until you fingers get harder. Then when you can play all the basic chords by heart and with some speed try playing tabs and some more advanced songs. After that you pretty much need a good memory and fast fingers.

    1. What is your in-game name: Jextremes
    2. What is your characters name: Yngvor
    3. What city do you want to be a part of: Laubeck
    4. why do you feel that you should join the server: Looks fun and unique. Also, there's dragons and factions. Which is neat.
    5. Give us a brief description of what your character will be like: No major weaknesses, doesn't really care about morals and likes to keep things in order.
    6. Do you understand that the rules are not set in stone, and that we decide if you've broken one or not: Yup

Also, if you want a header or a signature banner I can make one. I made the Flatham banner you can see in someone's signature below. I can do better than that though

    Here's a rushed example

and if you want to use it
