Try building a circular building (a tower). That's what really got me going.

It's hard... and in order for it to look "round" (In blocky mine craft :tongue.gif:) it's gotta be fairly big. But once you get it down, you can start adding towers to your buildings, and then thats a simple step from connecting them/attaching minecart platforms.

But there's a few ways you can go with it. Wanna be utilitarian? Build a factory! You'll have to build defenses and traps, and why not build it over a cave opening?

In my single player game I have fishing huts, Woodcutter huts, Mills, Quarries, Ice-fish houses... It it's got a purpose, build it.

Or you can go more artistic! Find/design a cool looking castle or something, and try to build it! That's so fun, I always freestyle it, but generally pencil and paper are involved :tongue.gif:.

Also, mess around on creative for a while... good way to come up with designs

    Alright...

So anyways, for years and years now, I've been waiting for a game.

This game is, well, basically a completely separate universe from that of Earth; however, it functions similar to Earth. One could "Log on" and you would start with, basically, nothing but your brain, and a few game mechanics you could work with.

Now, in my minds eye, there would be no real limits. One could reach down to the ground, grab a clump of dirt, and throw it at a tree, if one so decided. Mixing said dirt with water, you could make mud, even craft a little house of your own from said mud, if you wanted.

And it all worked faster than real life. It would start "so and so" times faster, and the more you did an action, the faster you would get at it. In this idea I had, it's not so much a level system as an expertise system. Just like in real life... generally the more you do something the faster you get at it. How much faster exactly, who knows. No levels. The game would keep track and adjust your "Stats" accordingly.

Now, this isn't earth. So there would be these vast paths one could follow that branch off into various sciences. And literally ANYTHING is possible... So you could study lets say, pyrokinesis, and develop a whole branch of "Fire Magic" for example. Or maybe you'll develop the way we've developed, and focus more on technology... progressing through the bronze age, iron age, steel age... etc.

It's all faster, though. The only restriction is really... Getting good enough to do all these things. Sure, you can do it all faster, but it still takes time to lay down roads, build buildings... create tribes, villages, nations...etc. And not only would you need to be good at whatever it is... others would have to be, too. And you could teach skills to people, but that in itself is a skill that would need to be developed.

In this way, everyone and every skill would be valuable, especially people that are "journeymen and masters" of skills. But those terms are mutable.... someone considered a master of woodcutting one day is back to being a newb when some guy develops a more powerful saw or spell or creature. He'd be a master of "the old ways" y'know?

And there's more... This odd leveling system would have no way of being recorded or measured besides that of measuring ones own productivity OR creating some sort of device, magic, spell, creature or whatever that could measure it. The "HUD" we would see would be unique to everyone, and change over time. I imagine rucksacks, shelves, paper lists and whatnot would be popular early in the "universe" but later on magic items or virtual consoles built into one's eyes would be popular. Or perhaps even creatures that you could converse with or would automatically keep track of things.

Also, wanted to touch on NPC's. In my idea, I'd like it to be HARD to figure out who was human or who was NPC.. and what research I do on the subject from time to time leads me to believe this shouldn't be too hard to pull off within the next ten years or so. The NPC's wouldn't really advance the world too much, but would exist on par with the same level of progress that the rest of the PC's were at in the nearby area. If PC's were to create villages, NPC's would do the same, not to mention join the PC's villages.

But the biggest thing, really, is that all this wouldn't be defined to a single planet. Different realms, dimensions, planes of existence and yes, other planets would be open to explore and create upon as well.

Now imagine what I thought of Minecraft when I randomly stumbled across it one day.

    Not a bad start.

My dream is that Minecraft one day develops or inspires my "Dream Game." I'll continue waiting, having not the coding skills, time, or money to do this myself. But I'll keep looking :biggrin.gif:

So yeah... Tell me what you think.
