He also applies the Wither debuff to other mobs, so he can heal by simply shooting a passive mob.

Then fight him underground, where you have the advantage. He's three blocks tall, so build a long corridor put beams over your head so that he has to stop and eat them before he can continue to pursue you. Have iron golems ready for a steady stream of damage. Regeneration potions, golden apples, eat whatever you need to survive. When it comes time to hit him have a sword enchanted with Smite to do extra damage to him. This is all in theory of course, but it's certainly possible to kill this guy. Which is good enough for me.

Okay so the plan is to make a pyramid of power, buff yourself with potion after potion, have a powerful diamond sword, and full suit of highly enchanted diamond armor, and get stuck in.

    Bring a friend.

You can't build a pyramid of power since one of the ingredients for it (a nether star) only drops from the Wither.

If you can get to him with a bow, he's coming for you.

Also, at half health he becomes invincible to arrows.

To all these guys saying he is easy, how bout you make a you tube video of killing it on hard mode?...seriously.

Nobody said he's easy. We're arguing that we are happy with the difficulty of the boss and don't mind a challenge, while providing options for how you can deal with the Wither's abilities.

How would you deal with the Wither debuff? It's like cave spider poison that lasts for 40 seconds, and will kill you even if you have half a heart left. On top of that, any damage you take during the debuff is added to the Wither's health.

Don't get hit, they only poison you on direct hits.
    also, drinking milk cures it

I dont know what everyone is complaining about; Notch originally stated that he wanted the Ender Dragon to be a rogue-like difficulty boss fight, and he completely botched that, making perhaps the easiest final boss of all time. It's about damn time end-game Minecraft players are faced with a challenge. You aren't expected to easily beat this guy: you have to put a lot of time and effort into it.

You kids and your attitude of "if it's too hard I'll complain to the developers so they make it easier" is hurting the video games industry. If something is hard, then try a little so that you can brag to your friends about it later.

So no, the Wither is not too hard. You're just a bunch of scrubs.

Uh, if the Nether isn't loaded when you're outside of it, they wouldn't be able to follow you.

You probably "can't get it to look right" because stone and stone bricks are both gray. An aesthetically pleasing house uses multiple colors. Try adding in some wood trim to contrast with the gray.

Wouldn't it be cool if we could send redstone through portals?

Since the nether isn't loaded unless you are in it, any changes to blocks (such as the changing of redstone from the off state to the on state) wouldn't occur until you entered the area. So you wouldn't be able to say, run away from a horde of zombie pigmen into a nether portal and flip a switch to detonate tnt on the other side so that they couldn't follow you, unfortunately.

Why does the gator have more health than the moose? Do you have any idea how fierce a moose can be?

And I am in support of more biome-specific mobs besides the mooshroom and ocelots. Wouldn't mind seeing a moose in my taigas.

posted a message on 1.7.3 Terrain with Large Biomes
    Quote from cadika_orade

I am lost now. Aside from biomes, how is the old terrain any different from the current terrain? The arguments I typically hear range from "There are no mountains" to "there are no plains" to "there are no beaches or islands or forests". I don't know what problems everyone else is having, but my vanilla, default, 1.2.5 map has all of these features, along with canyons and rivers and other features not found back in Beta 1.7.3. All attempts to prove me otherwise have centered around "Here is seed X in Beta 1.7.3, and here is the same seed in 1.2.5. The is DIFFERENT!! YARGLE BLARGH!!!!" Remarkably, I can fly around virtually any 1.2.5 map and find just about any feature you might claim unique to Beta 1.7.3.

I challenge the 1.7.3-Cult to prove me incorrect.

Yes, 1.7.3 and 1.3 all share mountains, plains, beaches, islands, and forests. That is true. But the terrain generation in 1.7.3 and versions before it mixed the terrain a lot more than in the current version. Today, Minecraft is divided into 7 or so distinct biomes. You won't see a mountainous forest or desert. Not to mention, the progress towards more distinct biomes removed many of the lesser biomes, such as savannahs and the (old) swamps and (old) rainforests that you would find scattered between the other biomes. Personally, I like the newer terrain, but everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Pull up the launcher. Next to the fields where you type your login information, there should be an options button. Open it up and click "Force Update", then log in as normal. You will redownload anything you don't have.
