so are any kind server owners going to do a second start of this experiment?
Please?
i honestly would like to see how fast it deteriorates in 2 months with:
3x3 kilometer map
the End, nether, and overworld
New veggies
Enchanting
Potions
villagers
and renewable Iron from zombies/golems.
Since the game has really changed much in the last few months ( concerning renewable materials).
Now i can get bows from skellies, armor from zombie pigmen, and trade whatever i want with villagers.
So, my thought is: If villager trading is implemented in the experiment, then people will begin a mass exodus to villages. Protecting the villagers as if they were diamonds themselves. Villagers would become one of the most treasured commodities. Of course the more chaos-oriented players would make villager genocide their primary objective.
I generally keep the Natural Terrain, but make a small outer defense wall that encompasses the town. then comes a larger, taller wall that is protected by snow golem archers in towers. Then the City itself, patrolled by Iron golems and well light. Finally, there is the keep, located at the tallest spot in the city, and it can easily have 2 or more walls protecting it.
they'll breed at the same speed, because testificates can still breed at night in houses (i made a large city once and put it to the test). But it might do you well if you have a sort of open area in the cave, surrounded by little niches with doors for the testificates, and at the top of the huge cave, a small opening.
OK, lets take a good look at the facts about Blazes:
They are only found in Nether Ruins, and are spawned from monster spawners
So you can infer that they have a connection to the Ruins; that could mean that
They are some sort of "spirit" that haunts the Ruins (possibly the previous intelligent creatures of the Nether)
They are a Mechanism left over from who ever built the Nether Ruins, much like the Dwenmeri Constructs of Skyrim
They are what wiped out the race of beings that created the Nether Ruins, and now inhabit the corridors.
They make metallic noises
By making metallic noises, one can infer that Blazes are indeed composed of metal, or have a high metal content. So we can ask, what does this mean?
They are Constructs
They are Fire Spirits that use a metallic armor as protection
Disproving the Ghast-Blaze Hypothesis
Ghasts are a huge, terrifying species that scours all of the Nether searching for fresh Char (player) prey; which it hunts down using it's deadly explosive fireballs. They emit howling and mewling sounds that many have compared to that of a demonic screeching
Blazes are metallic beings that inhabit and defend the deserted and crumbling ruins of the Nether. They emit metallic breathing, and make distinct clanking sounds when damaged. They fire non-explosive fireballs in sets of 3.
A Ghast is the Nether's form of the Top Predator. It roams around the Nether, search for any Overworld inhabitants to destroy and consume. They have Tentacles, which really don't serve any purpose. They also have a form of gills on the side of their heads, which points to the possibility that they can breath under lava; and even further, originated from the lava in a larval form. Much like Toads and Frogs lay eggs in ponds. Ghasts lay their eggs deep under the lava lakes, to protect their feeble children from other predators. Another possibility is that it is simply an embellishment of hell. It in itself represents fear, and later anger when attacking.
Blazes don't do any of these things, and only defend ruins. They are some sort of vengeful spirit or construct.
Re-make the famous cities, towns, ruins, and forts you know and love from TES in Minecraft
Have Accurate Terrain (done)
Have Accurate borders, locations, roads, biomes etc.
Release to public
Why?
because I have free time
Who?
Just Me at the moment, hopefully I can get someone generous enough to host a server to finish faster
How?
I used worldpainter to create a base map from a height map that I downloaded and tweaked.
Next step is to manually place locations and roads
Project Journal:
7/11/12
Finally got all my screen shots finished Here they are, Enjoy!
Ayleid Ruins:
These Ruins are all that remains of a proud and haughty empire, the first in Tamriel in fact. They are located in the southern regions, with ruins found throughout Cyrodiil, Blackmarsh, and Valenwood. (sandstone has been re textured to be white, and Redstone torches are now Welkynd stones)
Fort Ruins:
Fort Ruins are the remains of forts built in the First Era to fend off attacks from the invading Akaviri. They also coat the country side, although some are in much better states than others
Wayshrines:
Wayshrines are shrines to the nine divines that are scattered across the country side. Like other buildings, some are in better shape than others.
Oblivion Gates:
Oblivion Gates are gateways created that connect Nirn and Oblivion. They are primarily used by Mehrunes Dagon in his attempt to conquer Tamriel. (I know it's not the best design, but like everything here, its prone to change)
Runestones/Doomstones
Runestones give bound weapons and armor, Doomstones provide blessings
Bridges:
In order of appearance: The bridge that goes over the niben, The bridge near Pell's Gate
The bridge that goes toward the imperial city.
Pell's Gate
Pell's Gate. A small town that is south west of the Imperial City
Weye:
The settlement of Weye, home to the Wawnet Inn (latter two pictures are of the inside)
Other Assorted Things for today:
Things in order are: Bandit camp concept, Streetlamp concept, Image of the Imperial Reserve (Great Forest), and concept for The shrine to Kynareth
Ssssssssssssssstop right there Criminal Sssssssssssssscum!
when i first played minecraft I didn't even use a wooden pick. I made the sticks yes, but I survived a creeper explosion that rewarded me with cobble (take in mind this was back in 1.5). So I didn't get a wood pick. (this prevented me from getting many of the achievements though).
villagers can breed in artificial villages. All you need for villager breeding is as follows:
Houses: 3 by 3 at the least, I think it might need to be 3 high also
Doors on the houses.
Thats really it. Make a Testificate condo, and then put a fence around it to protect it from zombies.
also, if you end up having 16 testificates, then an iron golem is likely to spawn.
(I posted my theory on the arrangement of realms, and this sort of ties in)
So first, above the minecraft overworld, there is The Aether, the pure realm. Then comes the overworld, the middle realm, or as others call it Midgard. Then comes the darker realms in the void; the Nether, and at the end of existence, the End (below that, i have no idea). The Realms are arranged from light to dark. The sun and moon rotate around the entire arrangement. But they are not visible in the lower reaches because the void clouds their images. Stars surround everything
How do you lower the terrain of a height map, By this i mean the entire map.
I was trying to recreate Cyrodiil from oblivion in minecraft with this program, so first i made a height map:
then i made the new map, fixed biomes, water level etc:
I noticed that the highest mountain was already at the 255 mark, and the lowest on the map was around 125, but i didn't really care until I finally exported the map, IT WAS FRIGGEN HIGH. there were clouds at the bottom of the Abacean sea. So my question is: is there some way of lowering the entire land mass from the map's water level of around 170 to the regular minecraft level of 62
(I'm also asking this because due to the amount of blocks, there was a superb amount of lag that crashed minecraft.)

you know the orcs are heating up the metal and it's all firey. I think that they could very well be fire spirits of some sort of metallic composition.
