Not sure if he actually meant gnome or if goblins have a lab as well... If it's the former, GET OFF MY LAWN! lolQuote from Thyrllann
And I'm back! Sorry I've been gone so long/out of contact, but man, Uni is a lot of work Finally finished semester A though, so I've got a few weeks off to build!
I got bored with the Murlock Challenge - everything was starting to get a bit too homogeneous - so I took a look through the other challenges and the Northmen (Beserkers) caught my eye. So without any further ado, the album: http://imgur.com/a/quPqd
I took a lot of inspiration from JamziboyMinecraft's recent videos, copying the overall style of the builds, and I'm quite happy with the result. Almost up to Stage 3!
Also, ghosteth, whenever I join the server (which, to be honest, is not very often at all) WorldGuard (?) won't let me do anything. I'm currently stuck in the Goblin lab (I climbed in through a gap in the roof) and I can't get out It won't even let me use the pressure plates that open the door

Jun 6, 2013Wow, football has kept me very drained. Camp is over now, but I have another camp that goes through the whole summer in the mornings and then workouts in the afternoon. Exhausting! Double, I'm handing the Gnomish reigns over to you for a while. Make things your way, but make them nice. Anyways, that's a quick update on me. I'll try to get on the server when I can. Jun 2, 2013Jeddediah posted a message on ~ | THE LORD OF THE CRAFT | ~ - ENTER ATHERA - ~ Officially the #1 Minecraft Roleplay ServerOut-Of-Character InformationPosted in: PC Servers
Please fill out the following questions as accurately as possible, and ensure the essential details are accurate.
Minecraft Account Name: TheWholeTaco
How old are you?: 14 (technically 13, but my birthday is June 4th)
Time-Zone: Mountain Time
Have you read, understood and agreed to the rules?: Yes, I have.
What previous experience have you had in role-playing?: I have role-played on many servers, though they didn't suit my needs. I have also role-played in various games such as WarCraft 3, WoW, Roblox (when I was younger), and DDO.
How did you hear about the the Lord of the Craft?: I had been browsing the Minecraft Forums looking for role-play servers that looked nice. This was a while ago, as I was twelve at the time based on looking at my previous application which was denied because I wanted to be a villain and must have forgotten my personal definition of role-playing. I've taken so long to reapply because I was kind of angry, as I thought villainy would be rather fun at the time.
Link any applications that you have previously made for the server: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/29554-thewholetaco-whitelist-app/?hl=thewholetaco
Have you posted this application on the Minecraft Forum? If not, then please do so (link above): Yes.
Have you read the Human lore, and shall you ensure you make use of it and follow it in your biography?: Yes, but I am kind of confused as to how everything connects, and could possibly use a bit more information.
In your own words define the following terms. Do not take any definitions from elsewhere!:
Role-playing: Role-playing is somewhat like pretending you are someone else, acting as they would in certain situations that you as yourself might act in differently. You become the created character, and you take in the essence of this character, using only the character's knowledge and abilities, not those of your own.
Meta-gaming: Meta-gaming is like playing god in a minor way. You use information that should be unknown to your character and make your character overpowered.
Power-emoting: Power-emoting is when you don't really give another player a chance to react to your actions, and you force them to comply. I'm going to use my friend's name here as an example. *TheWholeTaco attacks and kills DoubleWhim*.
Complete the following biography on your character:
Full Name: Talen Larkingson
Current Age: 29
Sub-race (if any): Southeron
Past / History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long): Talen was born in a small village near Ager. His father, Geran, worked as a hunter, and his mother, Tilna, a tailor. They owned a small cottage a quarter-mile away from the rest of the village, and it was here that his mother worked. As a young boy, Talen helped his mother with her work. When he grew to a certain age, his father began to teach him the ways of hunters. He was taught to shoot a bow, build a shelter, gather food, and track animals. When Talen showed that he was ready to go hunting, his father took him on nearly every hunting trip. Between trips, Talen would take his mother’s goods and his own meat to sell. It was here he met his friend, Durk.
One day, they learned that Tilna was with child. Hunting trips became fewer, and far between as the day of birth came closer. Finally it came. Tilna gave birth to a baby boy, but before she could name him, she passed away. His father, struck by loss, named him Tarran, but the infant died of unkown causes a few weeks later. Talen, also filled with grief, searched for solitude on hunting trips. One night, he happened upon a brutally mutilated cow, and he knew that no hunter had done this. He heard footsteps behind him, and a low moan. As he turned, he recognized that it was a zombie. It was advancing towards him. Horrified and disgusted by the undead creature, he drew back an arrow and released. The arrow was well placed, and it killed the monster instantly. Looking at the creature lying dead on the ground, Talen realized it was time for him to return home. He was fourteen at the time.
A few years had passed, and Talen and his father learned to cope with their loss. As Geran grew older, he relied on his child more and more with each year. Soon, he was unable to go hunting. Talen was forced to go alone. After a three day long trip, Talen returned to find his door battered and lying on the ground. He went inside to check on his father, and instantly knew what had happened. A horrid stench was in the air, and dry blood smeared all over the floor. A zombie had attacked his poor, defenseless father, probably in his sleep. Filled with rage and grief, Talen ran off to find solitude once again. He swore to kill every zombie he ever happened upon.
Months later, Talen, finally seeking comfort, went down to the village. A beautiful young woman named Felicia had caught his eye. He had known her his whole life, but he had never noticed her beauty! Little did he know, Felicia had wanted him for years, and had been trying to get him to notice her every day she saw him. They got married, and lived in Talen’s cottage. Two years later, Felicia was pregnant. Talen stopped his hunting trips completely, and worked to be sure that Felicia would survive. Despite his efforts though, Felicia died giving birth to a son. He named him Geran, after his father, and knew then that he would never be safe. Talen believed that no matter what, those he loved would die. He believed that if he were to stay with his son, Geran would surely die. That night, he gave the infant to Durk and left, knowing that Durk would take care of him.
Nine years passed since the death of Felicia. Talen remains a hunter, though he hunts for both beasts and monsters. He never stays in one place long enough to become attached to anyone, but it would not matter, as his ability to love had diminished. He still felt love for Geran though, and every night he thought about how his son fared with Durk. He thought about visiting, but always decided against it. The only way his son would be safe is if he was gone in Talen’s mind, and he kept wandering, hunting, and hoping that he was right.
Ambitions for the Future: The thing Talen wants most in the world is to have his son, Geran, to live long and to be happy. He also wants to help eradicate the Undead, to avenge his father.
Personality: Talen is a reclusive man, and does not interact with others very often, unless they are in need or buying from him. His ability to love others has diminished greatly, and he is a somber man at times. Although his ability to love has diminished, other emotions have not. He still feels happiness, and anger, and everything else, but sorrow is the greatest of his emotions. He greatly despises Undead, and will do whatever he can to eradicate them.
Skills: Talen is an adept at archery and with a blade, is agile, and can track animals and monsters. He does not like to wear armor, but if he has to he will wear leather.
Appearance (this must include an in-game screenshot of your skin): Talen wears a simple white button shirt, with a green cloak on top. The shirt is made of wool, and the cloak of rough cloth. The hood of his cloak is usually kept up. The cloak is small on him, for it was made when he was but a child. His trousers are made of leather, and he has a belt with an iron buckle holding it up. A knife is secured on his belt. His boots are also made of leather, and are very rough from years of tavel. One of his eyes is blue, while the other is green. His mouth is a little off to the side, and affects his speech with certain words. Talen's hair is orange, and has dirt mixed up in some places. He keeps it short with his knife. He stands at about 6 feet tall and is somewhat skinny. His cloak was made for him by his mother, who passed away while Talen was young. The cloak is the only thing he has to remind him of his mother. Any other details you wish to share about your character:
Each question in this section must be answered with a minimum of one paragraph which must describe the event in full. Please be as descriptive as possible and do not break character or lore at any point.
1. Whilst in the mighty human capital you notice a dark-clothed figure stealthily making his way towards the Emperor’s palace - he is clearly up to no good. There are guards within shouting distance - what do you do?
Answer: *thinking* That man is highly suspicious. I wonder what he is up to. *examines him, assessing his physique and weaponry* Perhaps I should inform the guards. *sprints to the nearest guard, watching the man with every step* “Guard, there is a man heading to the palace. He looks like one of those sneaky types, and he seems to be trying to move stealthily. He is right over-“ *the man is gone* “He has disappeared! I do not think his intentions are benevolent.” *guard nods and begins to take action* *guard* “Thank you for your information. He will be apprehended.” *thinking* I hope that is true. I wish I could help, but alas, this is the duty of the guards. I will continue to sell my goods. *proceeds to go sell meat and other products of his hunts*
2. Whilst wandering in the deep oak forest you come across a large clearing, in which sits a small cobbled cottage. Outside it stands an unstable old man armed with a small iron blade, surrounded by two heavily armed bandits - they appear to be threatening him. You are armed with leather armour and an iron longsword, how do you react?
Answer: *thinking* That man is in no condition to fight, I must help him! *proceeds to sneak behind the bandits, though one hears him and turns around* “Oi, you! Whaddya think ye’re doin?” *Talen* “Leave him be.” *the bandit who turned around tells the other to watch the old man as he moves, menacingly, towards Talen* “I do not wish to fight. Leave him be.” “He owes us his money! I think that once he pays up, mebbe then we’re to leave ‘im. What’re ye gon do bout it?” *Talen draws his longsword and assumes a defensive position* “I will slay you. Leave him be.” *the bandit quickens his pace, and charges at Talen, sword raised, only to find that Talen is nowhere to be seen. Talen sneaks up behind the bandit and swings at his side. The bandit, not expecting a hit from behind, loses his balance and stumbles. Talen uses this to his advantage, swinging low at the bandit’s legs, scoring a minor hit on his thigh. The bandit regains his balance and swings back at Talen, his arm fully guided by rage. Talen manages to parry the attack, but the force of the blow was great and he retreats a step, only to find a second bandit behind him, preparing to chop his head off. Instinct tells him to duck, and the blade of the second bandit missed by half an inch. The old man watches as his would-be savior is quickly assaulted by the two bandits, somehow managing to survive. The bandits do not know how to coordinate their attacks, and Talen uses this to his advantage. One of the bandits takes a step close to Talen, expecting to finish him off, but the hunter parries and counter-attacks, knocking the bandit unconscious. Only the wounded bandit remains. Seeing his fallen comrade, the bandit roars with rage, and swings his blade with all is might. Talen manages to keep parrying, but the effort is taking its toll. The bandit begins to tire from the effort, and slows down as he launches a high overhead strike. Talen takes advantage of his opponent’s fatigue, and grabs the bandit’s wrist, pulling him closer and stabs his sword into the bandits armpit. The bandit slumps over, dead.* “You are safe.” *the old man is grateful* “Oh, thank you! Thank you very much! Come, come and eat!” *Talen smiles* “Thank you, sir.” *they proceed to eat inside the man’s cottage*
3. You are standing within the mighty human capital when you notice a small man standing behind a colourful stall. You approach the stall and notice that the man is selling a variety of general goods - he says that he is selling just about anything and that he has no set prices. He is willing to allow you to haggle and choose prices. What do you do? (Explain: your haggling, items of choice and the discussion that happens).
Answer: “Do you sell arrows, possibly some string?” *the man nods* “Yes, I have both these things. What will you pay?” “I will pay 20 minas for 64 arrows, and 10 minas for 6 string. Do you accept my offer?” “25 minas for 64 arrows, and 12 minas for the six string.” “So you will charge me for the price of raw iron for simple flint arrows? 20 minas.” “You drive a hard bargain. I will make you a special deal. Give me 26 minas for the arrows then, and you will receive your string for 1 mina.” *Talen considers the offer* “Deal. But make it double.” *Talen pulls out his coin purse, shakes some coins out, and counts out 54 minas, then hands them to the man, who secures the arrows and string in a small sack and gives them to Talen* “Thank you for the arrows.” “No, thank you for your business! Now, may I ask what brings you here to the capital searching for such items? You do not look like any archers I have seen.” *Talen smiles and replies* “I am a hunter. I’ve come to the capital to sell my rewards of the hunt and to restock my supplies. Food is no issue, but I highly value having these arrows and the string to repair my bow.” “Well, I am glad to be helpful to you. Goodbye now, may you prosper in the hunt!” *Talen leaves the area around the stall and goes to find an inn to stay the night*

Well, I wrote the Drow challenge, Lungora wrote the Swamp Goblin challenge and is working on the Nomad challenge, and the server is a server created by Ghosteth where we build our challenges. We currently have Ghost, Blazing, Payman, and Pure playing angel, DoubleWhim and I playing Gnome, Lungora and 00jak playing Swamp Goblin, and Sniper playing Dwarf, though I don't think he's gotten anything done. I know Sniper has been working on some roleplay type stuff for the server, to make things a bit more interesting. If you want to join, pm Ghosteth and he'll give you the information and whitelist you.Quote from TheFalenOne
Hey guys, I haven't build anything on the challenges for a really really long time :/ What's new? Any new challenges? And what's with that server that people are talking about?
May 29, 2013Posted in: Survival Mode
That's a good idea. I think I'll start doing that when I get home from football training.Quote from blazing_chaos
Well, maybe, when you can go on, log on and afk in there. Watch some youtube videos, but check in every 5-10 mins. Maybe someone else will see you're on, log on, realize you're afking, wait a bit, and when you check you see he's online, so you start playing. That's what I've been doing until recently.
May 28, 2013Good point Ghost, but meh. Sometimes it isn't worth waiting to see if someone is watching from the map. I believe most of us are playing on the server because we are kind of tired of playing alone so much, so we want to play with others while having a common goal. Our visions of flourishing cities of different races are our drives, and we count on each other to do their part to make the world so epic, that someone would just have to write a book about it. In conclusion, we don't want to be alone. We want to work together to make things amazing, to use our imaginations and play. Just my opinion though.Posted in: Survival Mode

I am going to add Markers on the map for the towns. Come up with names for your cities and let me know, I'll add them. Try to keep them race-based please. I don't want town names like Tacoville. *stares at TheWholeTaco* .
Awww, okay. Lemme do some research.Gnom Fabelwesen. That's German for Gnome Mythical Creature apparently, but I'll take it.
Now Lung, Nar Yadrak sounds very familiar to me. Could it be derived from a certain series of books by David Eddings? Perhaps it is a play on Yar Nadrak? Hmmm...

Join the Gnomes of the Taco, we shall rise and destro- I mean bake cookies for all with our redstone contraptions!Quote from Doublewhim
Got my laptop back and got whitelisted. Perfect. I'll be hopping up the server and see the buildings there. Soon enough, if there's anyone there, probably settling myself on another challenge on the server or joining the angels or the swamp goblins.
With my laptop formatted, I've lost all my worlds. That means kobold, so I wont be continuing that. Have to think of another one to do. I guess I'm doing singleplayer Drow. Gonna finish Taco's challenge before he himself even started. Yeah.
EDIT: Got in the server, was roaming the plains when I fell in a hole. Now I'm stuck. gg.
EDIT #2: Hey Jesse, can you give me the coords to the Drow cave we found in eldaria? Either do that or call me up so I can set up the server and we could restart - Probably setting each waypoint as we go, because doing all that again will be frustrative ¬¬

Hehe, I feel like a retard now xD Sorry about that! I was really wanting it thoughQuote from bspkrs
Since it's taking me longer than I'd like to finish up my changes in TreeCapitator, I've gone ahead and recompiled the last 1.5.1 tag for 1.5.2. Downloads are live.
Should have stopped before you posted...
May 5, 2013That is great looking, but the bottom left of the tavern looks a little bland. Maybe throw in a support beam or something? Just an opinionPosted in: Survival Mode
Anyways, I have been busy lately. Very busy. Also very jacked up on Mountain Der. Kobolds have been delayed, and I suddenly have felt the urge to build a nice little village, no real rules, no requirements, just good old fashioned Minecraft. Perhaps I'll make a thread for that when I finish.
EDIT: Damn me and my carelessness... I hate lava. I officially hate lava and everything it stands for. SO MUCH. ARGH. Now my emeralds and diamonds are dead, and I'm mad at that world. It no longer exists. That was unfortunate.

Jan 3, 2012I remember seeing at least a stack of diamonds in a cave system, but not knowing I only need iron for them, not gold.Posted in: News
I remember fighting my brother on our personal server, and how he creeper bombed me a lot.
I remember fighting my brother on the same server, but he had wolves.
I remember a little over a year ago, when my brother told me about Minecraft, I thought that when getting wood, you have to just keep clicking separately. (I was such a fail back then)
Now, I look at myself and say, "From an idiot to a master survivor. Good work, Minecraft"
We've seen you grow for a long time, Minecraft, and I've grown with you. Don't ever stop.
