    Out of Character

    Minecraft account name: Jboi

Country of residence and time zone: EST USA

Define role playing in your own words, do you have any past role playing experiences? Yes lots on multiple games. I have 2-3 years of RP under my belt. Roleplaying is acting as someone that you aren't as if you were that person. In other words, it's almost like acting in a film that has no script, and is being written and molded by the in game actions of players.

What is your reason for applying to this server? Codycg is my brotha from another country and we have been roleplaying together for-ev-a.

Have you been banned before, if so why? Nope

Do you agree with our rules, how about the lore? Yes and Yes. I've played on Ruined World Servers before and I absolutely love the RP.

Will you use the server's official texture pack? Of course.

Define Powergaming in your own words, example: Powergaming is forcing someone to do something that they don't want to do, or acting in such a way that is impossible and having your character be overpowered. An example would be "/me pulls out a knife from under his jacket and flings it toward the man, hitting him in the face, and killing him."

Define Metagaming in your own words, example: Using OOC knowledge ICly. For example, you may know OOC that there is an attack going on in your city because people are talking over teamspeak about it, but your character is deep in some mines 200 blocks away from the city, and has no communication with the town. If you were to use the information that the town was under attack to rush out of the mine and help defend, that would be metagaming.

    In Character

Character name: (Last names aren't required) Nikolai_Yuski

Your character's story so far: When he was born, his mother's life was lost. He was the youngest of 3 children, and his father, after losing his wife, became more of a drunkard that he already was. His older brother and sister raised him for the most part, his brother would go out hunting and gather the needed supplies to carry on, while his sister played more of the housewife role, with the distinct difference being her education. He was 10 years younger then both of them as they were twins, and they all lived in a small wooden cabin in the middle of a barren field surrounded by mountains. His sister, Maria, named after her mother, taught him to read and write, something his older brother Joseph never learned to do. At the same time, Joseph was teaching him how to operate weapons, and basic survival skills. He lived by the rules that there may not be a tomorrow, and any of them could die at any time, therefore, everyone had to be ready to survive on their own and carry on the Yuski name. His sister felt differently, because of their isolation she believed in trusting people, making Nikolai the neutral mediator for most of their arguments. When his father died when he was 10, he barely thought anything of it, as his father was absent for most of his growing up and practically drunk himself to death. In the end, he grew to be a well rounded individual, someone who could change the world if put in the right position. One day, he decided to go on a small adventure, he found a road that his brother always warned him not to follow because if someone followed him back to their home in the middle of the mountains, they would be in great danger. He decided against his warnings, and followed the road for quite some time, and found a small city that he had only read about in magazines and books his sister had. He explored abandoned buildings and found gadgets long since broken and destroyed, he collected them and brought a few engineering books with him back to the cabin. Upon returning however, there was no cabin. The entire cabin was in flames, and when he reached it, he found neither his sister nor brothers remains inside. He hopes to this day that they somehow made it out alive, but realizes they may have easily been taken hostage by a group of bandits. To some extent, he even blames himself fearing someone saw him leaving from the area, and decided to check it out for any encampments. He took his books and electronics, and left.
He is a survivalist/scientist who immerses himself in wires and cables to create strange machines that never do very much. He prefers to stay in a bunker/laboratory but will leave his base for food or to gather samples from the outside world as he grows all his own food in a room in his bunker. One day, when he was leaving his bunker and after not taking more than a few steps from the hatch door, he saw a group of bandits in the distance, and decided to hide in a brush nearby. His only mistake being forgetting to shut the hatch door. They group came by and investigated the bunker, splitting in half while one half went inside and the other circled the area making sure a larger group didn't come by. He laid in the brush until nightfall but the bandits stayed inside his bunker and ruined it. He began to crawl away under the cover of night but was captured by a sentry circling the bunker, and before he knew what happened Nikolai had been struck in the head and carried off. When he woke up he was inside his laboratory as it was burning down from the kerosene poured into it. He scrambled to get out and escaped with only the clothes on his back. He trudged away in a drunken like stupor, and didn't turn back.

Does or did your character have any companions or family? No

How old is your character? 30

Describe what your character looks like, any distinctive physical features? Blue Eyes, Black Hair, and a brown satchel that he always wears around his back.

How does your character act? He is usually all mixed up and talks before he can think. If you can get him to calm down long enough to speak clearly, he is very kind and compassionate, and has no desire to hurt another human.

    Character's occupation: Engineer

Does your character have an education? (Read or write) Both

Any special skills that your character has, nothing unbalanced: None, he is very good with redstone wiring and has basic weapons training but rarely uses it if he can help it.

Does your character hate or fear anything? He is fearful of anyone with a weapon, and hates bandits.

Describe an example of your character in great suffering and pain (RP, and Long):
*Nikolai slowly wakes from the blow to the head*
*He looks around and realizes that his laboratory is burning down*
*His arm is on fire and he pats it down very quickly*
"What the hell!" he exclaims as she tries to get to his feet.
*He gets up tears filling his eyes and smoke filling his lungs*
*He lets out a faint cry and drops to his knees crawling along the floor*
*He lets himself go for a moment and cries into his arms on the floor*
"This can't be happening... it- it-. Not again!" He stutters.
*He then realizes what he must do, and he gets up, and leaves his laboratory, softly crying to himself along the way, doing his best to hold back the emotion*
"Carry on... for the Yuski name."

    Anything else to add? Nope

Provide an image of your character's skin: Do I have too? Give me a moment...

Oh I see, when you say "killing or controlling other characters without them acting it out" for the definition of powergaming, most consider that Deathmatching, or DM. So when you are saying I'm only half correct I'm thinking to myself, "What is he talking about?" I suppose I'll add that in?

Define Role-Playing in your words: (See front page for examples) Acting out scenarios in the most realistic way for a character you create. You make a story in real time for a person with set traits.
Define Meta-gaming in your words:Metagaming is using outside knowledge IC. If you are a poor redguard who has lived in Hammerfeld all his life and has never been to Skyrim, you wouldn't know the layout of the land, or any of the history behind the land in character.
Define Power-gaming in your words: Powergaming is when you are too powerful and play to win. You do something that ruins roleplay and causes problems. This is doing something you can't RPly do, such as flying away mid fight to avoid dying. Which ruins the roleplay for whoever you were fighting with. It is also tied in with Deathmatching and killing others without roleplaying or forcing them to do something.

    IC:
    Name: Halthar
    Nickname: (Optional) Hall
    Age: 24
    Gender: Male
    Race: Wood Elf
    Appearance:
He has lived in Skyrim all his life, and because of that, dresses in Nord attire and even acts like you would expect a Nord too. The only difference is that he prefers to archery over sword combat, and prefers forest over a populated city.
Personality: He puts on a facade of seriousness and seems to be all business, but once he meets someone he likes, and becomes friends, his guard is let down a little and he can be quite the fun loving person.
    In-game RP example: (Include dialog)
Halthar shrugged off his heavy wolf coat and sets it by the fire to dry. A hole in the top of his tent is letting out smoke out as he roasts small game over the fire. He rubs his hands together and gets warm by the fire before he senses a man standing behind him. He quickly grabs his bow and turns around with an arrow already drawn. The man is taken aback.
"Whoa, sorry, I'm only looking for some food, I've gotten lost out here in the woods." He says as he raises his hands. Halthar looks the man over and can see his is physically weak and fatigued. He lowers his bow.
"Sit down by the fire." He says as he slings the bow over his arm.
"Thank you, I've been stuck out in the snow for days."
    "Where are you headed?"
"Akavir. Do you live out here?"
"Sort of. I move around a lot."
"Do you work for money?" The man says as he reaches toward a small coin purse strapped to his belt.
    "Depends, what do you need?"
"Well, an escort to the docks in the nearby town would be nice." He pulled out a few septims and rubbed them together.
"What? To depart for Akavair?" Halthar rose his left eyebrow and wondered if this was his chance.
    "Yes."
"I'll come with you, if you pay for the boat ride."
"Oh! I see, I'm not sure I have money for a two way trip for you..."
"That's fine, I only need to go one way."
Halthar had finally found his way to cross the ocean.

Background: (Detailed and in-depth, 2 paragraphs. Also, explain how you came to be in Akavir.)

Halthar never knew is real father, but was raised by his mother, who was a Wood elf, and his father, who was a Nord. He learned from his father how to hunt and survive in the wild. His father preferred tried teaching him how to use a sword, but Halthar had other plans. It seemed his natural instinct to wield a bow. At 10 years old, he fastened his first sling shot. He used a Y shaped stick and some goat guts from his fathers recent hunt to build the contraption, and would fire small rocks at animals. When he was 12, he saw guardsmen with longer sticks with a string on them, bows. He naturally wanted one, and on his 13th birthday, his father finally let him have one. Since his father was less of an archer, he traveled to the nearby town of Riverwood to receive further training from a wood elf living down by the river. The wood elf was a simply hunter living in outside of the town hunting small game, and selling the larger game to the tradesman inside Riverwood. Halthar was fascinated at how the man could survive on his own out in the wild, and immediately knew he wanted to be a hunter. He stayed with the man for many months until the hunter became ill, and died in the cold of winter. Halthar buried the body next to a rock and made a small engraving so he could return and remember where it was buried. He was 15 by the time he finally returned home. His mother and father had become low on funds, his father had been drinking again, and he feared the worst. Halthar then decided it was time for a change and left what little money he made with the hunter to his Mom, and began a trek toward Akavir. The problem was, he wasn't sure if he would have enough money for a fair, and walking would take him more time than it was worth. He started walking, but was unsure what he would do once he reached the port and couldn't pay. He contemplated sneaking into a supply crate and getting a free ride that way, but it would be risky. It wasn't until he ran across a fine gentleman who was also on the trail for Akavir that he finally received his opportunity to make it all the way to Akavir.

Well, I thought it was implied he got a fare from the gentleman he ran into. As for the walking part, he only started walking toward the port where he could leave for Akavir.

As for the powergaming part. Powergaming is playing to win and doing something you can't RPly do like flying away mid fight to avoid a death. Sorry I didn't make that clear. I tried to steer away from generic answers.
Here's a repaste of the application.

His mother and father had become low on funds, his father had been drinking again, and he feared the worst. To alleviated the financial stress, he joined the Imperial Legion, however, soon he found himself on the front lines of war with the Stormcloaks. He disliked the fact that he had to kill what he considered his brothers. He got out of the Legion soon after his contract was up, and he returned to the grave site of the hunter to contemplate what he would do. He was 18 now, and considered an independent Wood Elf by his mother. She urged him to go out and live his life independently as her marriage was falling apart. Halthar's father was a complete drunk, and his mother only stayed by him because she had no where else to go. Halthar left her all the money he had received during his time in the legion, and told her to keep it hidden from his father so that he would not spend it on mead. Halthar has been living in the snowy forests of Skyrim ever since.

posted a message on If you could remove one thing from minecraft, what would it be?
Hunger/food stacking/uninstant healing PVP was SOOOOOOOOOOOO much better when you would eat food to get health back.

To Everyone whom it applies to

I see where your coming from about the great Saper in the sky hasn't been on a lot recently. But without him we wouldn't have had tons of fun times on the server. Without him this thread wouldn't exist. Without him we wouldn't have had a ton of porn jokes. Without him we wouldn't be here on this thread right now. Im frustrated to that he hasn't been on a lot recently. And yes I find it annoying that he hasn't given someone Admin rights. But just be happy that we have the server and it isn't dead. Just food for thought.

Sincerely, Theadore, and anyone else who thinks this.

I agree, but it would be nice for him to give admin rights to another mod so that towns can get rid of vacant homes when the play ditches the server.

posted a message on I still use "i" for inventory
Funny thing was, I was using "E" even when "I" was the default.

    Hipster time:
I was using "E" before it was cool!

no but in all honesty it is faster and if you use "I" you are just wasting your own time, so have fun wasting your own time.

I feel like in the time it takes to get Fortune II or III you might as well just mine and collect more diamonds.

Can't you get water in the Nether via Silk Touch or was that patched?

I think you can still pick up ice.
