posted a message on Mossy Cobble Raid
Hey, so I was in my Singleplayer world and discovered this Jungle Temple. After I gathered all the loot and redstone contraptions, I thought about all the mossy cobble I was seeing, and how nice it would be to have it for building. So I purged the temple for all the mossy cobble I could get. Here's the end result:

Can you see any mossy cobble left? I can't.

All the stone I collected. (Nearly 11 stacks, 695 altogether)

:mossystone: :mossystone: :mossystone: Any ideas of what I should build with all this mossy cobble? :mossystone: :mossystone: :mossystone:

Hi Minecraftians, I'm here to ask how you mine. I usually make a Branch Mine and then dig until I find a cave to explore. How do you mine?

If I spawn on a beach, I also like to use the shipwreck story. I'll also give myself a few items, like a map of the land, a compass, a stone sword, a few pieces of bread, etc. I have a lot of fun.

Helloo. So here's a topic - your Minecraft back story.
When I start a new world, I like to think of myself in an extremely post-apocalyptic universe. It is so late, that ALL signs of humanity have eroded. Everything that once stood has now withered away - Buildings have rotted into the dirt, stone structures have crumbled, etc. It's like before humanity even existed! However, there are a few remainders... Mine shafts that have long since been abandoned, Dungeons that have spawned due to the former chaos, rare communities of people living, etc. Also, at night, the past residents of the land come back. Some haven't changed, lumbering around and trying to destroy every form of life. Some have evolved; using ranged weapons and ammunition to kill you from afar. And some have changed so much, that their bodies have become time bombs, just waiting to explode. And did I tell you that the insects have become huge, holding a whole 2x2 square? I must defend and rebuild, rebuild and revive, revive and enhance.

So, do you Minecrafters have any backstories? That, or I wrote this entire thread for nothing.

posted a message on How to make arrows easily!
    For Minecraft Newcomers!

If you don't have a Skeleton Farm, getting arrows for your bow can be pretty annoying. However, here's a method of how to get a 64 stack of arrows in a simple manor.

    Flint -
    1) Get 16 Gravel. You'll also need one or two shovels, stone preferably.
    2) Place down your gravel. You can either jump stack it, or just place it all down in a wide area.
    3) Shovel it all back up! As you do this, a few of your blocks of gravel should turn into flint. (This DOES work!! All blocks of gravel can be made into flint, no matter how many times you shovel it!)
    4) Repeat steps 2-4 until all gravel has become flint.

    Sticks -
This should be the easiest. Just get 2 Logs, convert them into 8 planks, and then convert those 8 planks into 16 sticks.

    Feathers -
This may be hard, but it may be easy. Just get 16 feathers. You can go on a chicken killing spree, but I would suggest making a chicken farm, because animals don't just spawn out of nowhere anymore, like they used to. Once they spawn, they don't spawn again.

Once you have your 16 Flint, 16 Sticks, and 16 Feathers, head to your local crafting bench. Put the materials in order like this -
    :Flint:
    :|:

    :feather:
And Viola! You'll have yourself a stack of 64 arrows. Have fun!

    6) Iron Ore (If Mining, shows how much I've collected)
    7) Map if available, Misc if not
    8) Food
    9) Torches
If everything's not arranged like this, I'll go insane

posted a message on Beta 1.3_01 Building Ideas
Helloooo. So, I wanted that old 'nostalgic' feeling of Minecraft. I downgraded to 1.3_01 and made a new world. What I'm looking for is what to build! I already have a 12x12x9 house, a mine shaft, and a small wheat farm. My ideas so far were to:

    1) Go to the Nether, collect glowstone, and use it for street lamps :)
    2) Expand my wheat farm, build long glass walls around it, and add trees and benches to make it a nice garden!
    3) Cut all the trees off of the hill nearby and make a Cobblestone fort
    4) Build a fishing dock
    5) Use gravel paths to link everything together
    6) Build an underwater base
    7) Build a pirate ship near the fishing dock
    8) Anything else that comes to mind

So any ideas? I also like to make small buildings, like general stores, banks, mob traps, etc.

I see what you mean, I always keep an Iron Pickaxe on me for the use of mining through an ore that gets in my way, such as Redstone. Also I use it to mine things like Gold and Diamond.

I'm sure you all have heard of Strip Mining, the mining technique in which the Player digs down to a certain layer and mines a long path forward as a base. The player then carves out 'branches' that go out from the base to the left and right.

I'm quite fond of this method, I've found 28 Diamonds in my main Single player world. What I'm wondering is this: to all who use this method, what type of pickaxe do you use? Unless I already have a stack or two of iron ingots, I will use a stone pickaxe. I like stone pickaxes for mining in my strip mine because you are mining so much Cobblestone that you might as well use some of it to mine even more material.

So what kind of pickaxe do you use in your mines?

Hit them with your sword in their feet. They get knocked back when you hit them, so you can hit them again. Looking at their feet doesn't make them teleport, so you can just hit them over and over until they die.
