I've had a server with Cascade for about 2 months now and it has been one of the best running servers Ive tried. Great connection, no lag at all.
The only negative experiences I had was from a server greifing incident, I didn't have a whitelist and Cascade listed the server IP. After that Cascade made the server IP private and I set up a whitelist. There was no recent back-up copy so I had to reset the server back like 1-2 weeks. I don't blame Cascade, it was just a negative experience. Then they had issues with their Multicraft control panel which corrupted a few of my region files. I was able to repair with region-fixer but still had to use a back-up of the corrupted regions which was a week old. Kinda annoying again. And their multicraft panel / servers are down again today, maybe for repairs or upgrades idk, came without warning.
Some of these problems wernt completely their fault. Just a couple of negative experiences that will probably lead me to choose a different host if they continue.
Is it possible to add a texture pack and mod to the server (1.7.4), so that all the players connecting to the server will experience the specific texture/mod?
Basically I want to add the LB Photo Realism texture pack and the Water Shader mod to our server. But I've been running Vanilla for years now and have never experimented with this. I've tried searching for an answer but can't find anything clear on the subject.
So my question is, is it possible to add these 2 features to the server?

Would I really need 1GB? Or would 512MB or 768MB suffice for a vanilla server?
A lot of sites advertise up to 12 players with 512MB and 18 with 768MB, but seem to always recommend the 1GB plan. I'm guessing either the player slots are exaggerated or companies just like to push sales over 1GB.
I've been hosting a small MC server for me and some friends over the past couple years now. It started out with just a few of us but now we have several friends on at anytime. Unfortunately, my internet begins to lag as we approach more than 4-5 players on, and I feel bad for my friends so I'm looking to upgrade.
We've been on this server and seed since the 1.7.2 update and have spent a lot of time on it, so the host would have to be able to host a pre-existing server. Here is some more information:
The server is standard survival mode, no cheats, no mods, etc.
Average of 6-8 players on at a time regularly.
Max of 12-14 players (very rare)
All players are on US East coast, Florida more specifically, so an East Coast host would be a plus.
I would like the server to be completely lag free with 8 players on. I dont care if it lags slightly with 12 players on.
I would like the ability to op players and use /commands via a control panel, etc.
And most importantly, I would love to be able to ride horses lag-free XD
When I start the server all the fields are blank and they remain blank. It will show players that log on, but no chat/logs/stats. Is this a common problem? Can it be fixed?

Just trying to figure out if a Dallas, Texas or Buffalo, New York server location would be better for me living in Florida?

Thanks for your response. I'm just nervous about not getting enough RAM and having the server lag :/ So far I'm considering Exodus 768MB.
I actually saw your thread which pointed me towards them.
