Try searching "custom items in Minecraft" on Google. I just did, and there are a bunch of relevant results. Also, you may want to find a general modding tutorial.
This would probably include adding cutscenes, triggers, and new "worlds", none of which are (or should be) part of Minecraft. It sounds really cool, though!
So, this is my first mod since 1.4 or so. I'm making a mod for singleplayer that adds a whole new set of helpful items to (hopefully!) facilitate the game for those who have enough diamonds. :wink.gif:
I know how to do crafting recipes, add new items, blocks, etc., but I'm having trouble with an X-ray-goggle-like item. They aren't really x-ray goggles, per se, but they're supposed to see through stone, dirt, etc. to locate coal. I have two problems. First, blocks don't normally render when they're surrounded on all six sides by other blocks. Second, I only want coal to show up when you wear the "goggles", for obvious reasons. I haven't experimented with the actual rendering engine before, so could anyone point me in the right direction?
EDIT: I don't use ModLoader, not that it probably matters. Also, I decompile Minecraft with MCP.
Five posts say "lol". What does this say about the thread? :huh.gif:

@DragonDomain: I can try to help, but I'm no genius at coding :/

EDIT: What Quintinity said should work.

I'd make it if I knew how to render new entities.

You can just retexture a stone pressure plate.
