    Quote from echonite

    Infinite loop of any kind will slow any computer to a crawl.

    Can be achieved with basically any programming language, and you need only set up a shortcut to start it when you hand over your laptop. You can use a "Workspace" program to create a second virtual desktop to hide the loop so they cant close it.

    Not quite as easy as
    for (int x=2; x>1; x++) {
    }

    It has to actually have some lag-causing function in the middle of it.

    Prime95 is insanely hungry. Seriously, on my mac laptop, the maximum CPU temperature is 105 celsius (after which it throttles automatically, don't worry) and Prime95 gets it to 103.

    If in SMP, make up full Prot. IV Diamond armor and a proper Sharp V F.A. II diamond sword and equip zombies with them, then trap them, and unleash them upon your enemies.

    posted a message on 1.8 - Perfect World
    I was just mining with my standard mining setup:
    Eff V Silk Touch I Unbreaking III Dia pick and shovel
    Speed/Fire Resistance/Night Vision potions

    In 30 minutes (3 of each potion plus a bit in the dark) I got 20 diamond ore, when mined with Fortune III that was 47 diamonds.

    Extrapolating that, 2 stacks of diamond blocks would take just over 12 hours.

    So no, 2 stacks of diamond blocks is not ridiculous at all, you could definitely do it in 3 IRL days if you sat down to it.

    Note that this is specific to Extreme Hills as a biome - in my amplified world I'm not having high up water freeze because it's not in extreme hills.

    Please put your question in the title instead of just "HELP", it's much easier for us - we can see what you're asking and click on it if we know the answer, instead of having to open it then close it if we don't.

    1. Know all recipes (I sometimes mess up on the arrangement of redstone and iron/pressure plate in pistons/detector rails, but it's easily fixed)
    2. Know how to enchant and what enchants are good
    3. Use enchanted diamond tools 100% of the time if you have the resources for them
    4. Name good things before repairing them (soon not to be true)
    5. Know all the blocks and what they do
    6. Know enough redstone to make an automated farm, e.g. pistons pull up when you press level

    And most importantly,
    Get your diamond by digging a 1*2 tunnel at y=12
    Seeing people dig a huge square to find diamond makes me want to cry sometimes. They waste so much time!

    posted a message on Unburnable slabs question
    You can no longer get the non-burning slabs that have to be mined with a pick. You can, however, open up a texture pack and change a slab that you'll rarely use, e.g. brick slabs, to oak and use those instead.

    posted a message on Quick question about slime spawns
    Ummm
    1. Snow cover layers 2-7 block spawns, and remember, they only spawn in 1/10th of the chunks, so you wouldn't need to slab or snow your entire base.
    2. Assemble the mob cap's worth of mobs to block slimes from spawning, through e.g. a spawner. If you can't see these mobs they won't cause much lag, but if your computer can barely handle MC you probably shouldn't do this.
    3. Some way of killing them automatically e.g. arrows. Terribly wasteful.

    4. (best imo) Slime AI basically just jumps in a direction constantly, with the direction varying one radian from the previous jump's direction (when there is no player). This makes them often end up in corners, because they'll get in a corner and no one-radian variation will get them out of it. So, if your base is not wood, put some lava or fire to light the corners and let slimes run into it.

    (Edit) They also can't spawn on transparent blocks like glass, so making paths of, say, glass over lava will reduce valid spawning space and therefore number spawned.

    I think you should consider adding bridges where it's logical - from the sand island to the lane around it, for example. Making boats all the time is a huge pain.

    It looks like your main problem is that everyone recommends using a daylight sensor as a timer, but you don't want to use one. I'd recommend a minecart-cobweb timer. Minecarts in a cobweb take *around* 20 seconds to fall through one cobweb. Since it's from sky limit to bedrock, that gives you plenty of vertical room for such a timer. Make a track going up 35 blocks that then drops the minecart through 35 cobwebs, where it lands on a detector rail and goes back up. This gives you an approximately 10 minute timer, just hook this up to all the pistons.

    Boats can't go up falling water, but I think they can still go up still source blocks. Try making a 2*2 shaft of solid water.

    I did 30 minutes of mining yesterday and got 36 diamonds with fortune III. People really overestimate how hard it is to get diamond.
