I remember not all that long ago the Tutorials section of the forum was full of cool things for people to build or how to best attack certain aspects of the game. I loved to go check out things that people had come up with and if I felt like it try out their ideas.
These days the Tutorials is swamped with mods, mods and more mods. The entire first page is essentially a big section on different mods, how to install mods, how to create mods, etc. I understand that these are tutorials, but with having a Mods Discussion, Mods Development, and Minecraft Mods section already available, I dont see why all of these topics are ending up in the Tutorias section.
I would love to see the old Tutorials section come back to life and make it known to everybody that the Tutorials section is NOT for mods.
I feel like this would just discourage people from going to deserts since there really isnt much that you need. People would run in, grab 1 cactus and leave, never to return again just so they don't have to deal with the hassle especially is it has serious effects on crops/health.
What you are saying here is that by mining this it would open a hole into the void, allowing the player to fall down in there. Bad idea right there. If you are at bedrock you arent going to mine it with your fists either.
Why do you get 10 when you smelt it exactly? If you mined with a tool you would get 2, times 10 for smelting gives you 20 right away. Even if it were rare, you would only have to find 2 blocks of it to make full armor and all the tools/weapons you need.
How often would you find it?
Why is another material for tools and aromor needed?
I really don't think this is a good idea, no support from me.
Two ideas in a few minutes? I think you need to slow down and think these through a little more and type slowly (spelling mistakes)
I don't like this really, because the furnace mechanism is burning the fuel (wood, coal, lava, etc) to cook or smelt. Flint and steel is not something that can be burned to produce heat and cook or smelt things, it is just a means of lighting fire.
Also fire doesn't last long being placed on the ground so it might not even be long enough to be useful
I really like this idea and would totally play it. Deff see some challenges in making all the things you said work but still would be nice.
Just a couple things I thought about
-Zombies AND skeletons could spawn at the behinning, both being of the undead nature. Possibly eliminate the enderman all together.
-The villager idea would be really tough to implement so maybe they could be found naturally deep underground as if they went down there in search of protection from the deadly above ground world? They would be rare and never found in groups so that you can't get a village up and running in no time.
-Some kind of item to make the villager follow you like wheat makes animals follow.
Thats a pretty half-a** response.
I think Kholdstare is saying that because in the topic title it specifies that it isnt a mass griefing tool...which it most certainly is.
It would be great to have, but I just don't see there being a major overhaul to how the block system works. I doubt the change would be made to allow two items to take up the same single block so this is probably just wishful thinking.
If you looked through what i wrote you would have seen that somebody had already written what you did. Just plus my comment if you agree. Thats how it works.
Just because you already said the same thing doesn't mean somebody can't express their opinion if it is similar. Get over yourself.
btw, why woulld you want to have another overworld? Ther nether is there for a reason.
On Topic: This is still a ridiculous griefing tool. I am not seeing the difference between this anf regular fire...you are essentually saying it only burns everything that usually burns (organic materials). Also it sounds like you want it to spread faster than normal fire and burn longer than normal fire. Just a terrible terrible idea.
I do think you had good reasoning with the fire charges though with making them shorten the life span of the snow golem. If they took a small amount of damage each time I think it would be fine.
Okay, I'll think about giving them other stuff. But right clicking on them takes a little while and too complex for a cheaply made snowman. But I'll think about giving them block materials.
That is true, I think if they were only able to pick up very specific items, not whatever is around them, then your original idea would be fine. I would just be pissed if I accidently dropped a stack of 12 diamonds I just mined and a snow golem rolled along and snatched them up to throw at zombies.
