so gold its better than iron for thr 1st time

Yeah, pretty odd, but the texture for golden horse armor looks a lot sturdier than the iron armor, which appears to be a combo of regular plating and chain-mail.

I think that is right but does horse armor have durability

Not as far as I know.
When the horses drop the armor after they die it has not shown a durability meter.

I say just make the original saddle have the horse saddle crafting recipe.

posted a message on Horse Armor - How effective is it?
I was bored and saw the rather... rough info given on the wiki and decided to find accurate numbers, so here are the numbers I got from my test.

The first horse had 9 hearts and no armor, it took 18 punches to kill it (1 punch = Half a heart). You don't say?

The second horse had 12 hearts and iron armor, without armor it would have taken 24 punches to kill it. With iron armor it took 34 punches to kill.

The third horse had 14 hearts and gold armor, without armor it would have taken 28 punches to kill it. With gold armor it took 41 punches to kill.

The final horse had 10 hearts and diamond armor, without armor it would have taken 20 punches to kill it. With diamond armor it took 40 punches to kill it.

So here are the present-ages of damage each armor absorbs (rounded to the nearest hundredth):
    Iron: 41.67%
    Gold: 46.43%
    Diamond: 50%

So, your welcome! Also, feel free to tell me that I messed up my math.

    Sounds like a plan...
step 1: how the f*** do I make a texture pack?

Ehh... try and find a tutorial, maybe?
Step 2: Translate "Indefensible Legal ****" from legaleese to English to see if we would be under legal attack for doing this.

No. The snapshot contains no such things. It doesn't appear in /bin anyways, it's in /versions.

Oh, that explains it, i was probably looking at a modded 1.5 jar.

I was looking at the .jar file for minecraft so I could get a good look at the horse, hay bale, and leash textures, and I noticed the jar had the tell-tale sign of modding, the dates being filled in. On a closer inspection I found files that seem to be from Minecraft Forge in the seemingly modified folders.
Along with the "mod" folder, something tells me Forge is possibly part of the mod api, or at least, a step towards it.

Also, in the above image you can see a paulscode folder and an ibxm folder, both of which are from AudioMod. To me, this seems to make sense, there are loads of fan api's for Minecraft already, it would make sense to just grab a handful and incorporate them into vanilla.

    DISCUSS!

oh fanbases, how your so quick to defend anything stupid because you like a buggy laggy rpg grindfest with slight building elements.

Dude, learn how to punctuate and capitalize. Your account says your 19 years old, but you are defiantly no older than 8 years old. Come back when you are not failing English, sonny.

Presumably patching it with the texture pack unstitcher tool will make it fixed enough for hypixel's map, it'll just have all the post-1.5 textures as defaults.

Actually, the 1.4.7 DL has the 1.5 format already in the zip.

I like them but I wonder what additional stress horses will cause on servers due to faster chunk loading. I guess it depends on how fast horses really are.

Unless it goes above the speed of creative flight, then no more than what a creative server goes through.

Yes, but no if they're faster than minecarts. All the minecart-track will be render useless. :steve_sneaky:

Unless you want to transport large quantities of items.

Also, just as I expected, the vocal people that are against horses are in fact a minority.

    Quote from Doktor_Enderman

If they are addded, I'd like them, but I want to make harder to control it completely. (WASD control)

A; it needs a health bar, and can be damaged by falls, hits, or mobs.

B: It should buck you off when untamed. (Feed 4 apples to tame)

C: To control it like a controlled pig; use an apple on a stick.

D; For WASD and speed, use a Golden Apple on a stick.

It should also be healed with apples Regular( 2 hearts) Golden (4 hearts) and Golden Enchanted(6 hearts).

    A: Makes Scence

B: Nice, but perhaps make the taming requirement a bit more dificult

C & D: No. Seriously, now you are just making a worse version of the pig.

I personally think the horse should be a direct upgrade from pigs, like how a diamond pick is a direct upgrade from an iron pick. Giving it a higher bar for obtaning is fair enough, but if you were to compare pigs and horses without factoring obtainment requirements then the horse would be better, IMO. (By obtainment requirements, I basically mean the requirements for taming, not some stupid upkeep junk. I mean, when you craft an iron pick, you don't have to worry about rust.)

P.s. I still try to find out what makes a feature supposedly "fit or not fit" minecraft. If it is in, then it fits because the creators have decided that it fits.
P.p.s. Thank you to everyone for not sparking a massive 97 page flame-war yet. I hope this won't turn out like the complaint topic about leather in books. Good god did that spin out of control.
