posted a message on I'm in the need of some assistance
So I'm trying to build a building in which the interior is lit during the day by the sun through a hole in the ceiling and by night by a few specially placed redstone torches, so that the light level is low. However I need it in such a way that the redstone torches are only on(lit) at night and off(unlit) during the day.

Is there anyway I can do this? Thanks.

Well in all honesty if the mob could be programmed without much problem and it was put into the game, how would you feel?

no, minecraft is too simple for that kind of animation and it sounds impossible to kill, this monster belongs in another game.

It's very simple to kill, have basic situational awareness and a sword.

If this would be added I would not be able to play anymore, because I'd be constantly shaking of fear and when i hear the littlest noice I'll be petrified, unable to move untill I realise it was my cat.

I was thinking of it only spawning deep beneath the earth, where your FOV starts to decline. It would be the perfect hiding place. And it would only rarely spawn higher up on occasion.

Sounds like it would require drastic recoding of the game engine.

That appears to be the biggest problem.

posted a message on Enderbeast - New mob idea(with pictures!)
Now first of all please bare with me here as I am not the best artist and I was using MS paint. Anyway I have an idea for a new hostile mob that could be added to Minecraft, I call it the Enderbeast.

    Picture 1

This is a very rough idea of what it would look like drawn in MS paint with the 2 pale and blue blocks representing a player. What the Enderbeast would do is it would tend to hide in the shadows(even more than the creeper) and only advance towards the player when the player's back was turned to it. The Enderbeast would only attack when the player is facing the other way unless attacked first, otherwise the Enderbeast would prefer to move and stay hidden in the shadows.

The Enderbeast's main attack would be sneaking up on a player making very little to no sound and if given enough time with the players back turned the player would see hands or claw reaching from the edges of the screen as seen here(thanks to MS paint once again) maybe with some form of audio cue that could sound like the wallmasters from Zelda: OoT heard here. The Enderbeast would then grab the player from behind and pull the player towards it using its long arms/legs, it would then lay the player down on their backs on the floor(this is all happening kind of quickly mind you) so that the player was on the ground on their backs looking up towards the ceiling. The Enderbeast would then stand over the player, look at him/her in the face and stretch it's jaw out and swallow the player. The player's screen would be swallowed by the Enderbeast's mouth and cut to black and then death.

As you can tell the Enderbeast would be a stealth based mob primarily spawning deep underground and only where it is very dark. The Enderbeast would not attack until the player was facing away where it would slowly approach the player. If the Enderbeast was discovered and attacked the Enderbeast would defend itself by standing on its back legs(so now it is a bit taller than normal) and slash at the player with its front arms/legs which are rather sharp doing 3 hearts on easy and normal and 4 hearts on hard. The main grabbing attack if successful(remember this attack takes some time) would be fatal to the player.

It would appear to look like a mix of a Xenomorph from the Alien franchise and a spider, with black armor like skin and deep purple eyes. I was inspired by the ReDeads and Wallmasters from the Legend of Zelda series. A mob that would truly strike terror in Minecraft players was my main goal. What do you think?

I know I'm not the only one with this problem. My computer is pretty good not the best but good enough for MineCraft, Ive never had troubles playing MC til 1.8 came out now it is so laggy its nigh unplayable and lots of people I know feel the same. Will this be fixed in 1.9?

It's a texture pack issue, not a bug. Make sure you're playing a vanilla version of the game, no mods, no textures.

    It was vanilla.

posted a message on Redstone Block
How about a Redstone block? Similar to Iron, Gold and Diamond blocks. While Diamond blocks are teal, Gold are yellow and Iron is grey a Redstone block would be red. This would open up a whole new area for decoration also even more importantly make the storing of Redstone a thousand times better as a single stack of 64 Redstone blocks would be 576 Redstone dust.

    Thoughts?
