Is this every server?
Could be a sign the server has a white list or requires hamachi
It can also be a sign that the minecraft log in servers are down but in this case I think its a safe bet its not that
The server is neither white-listed nor a Hamachi server and it is up, there are about 15 or so people playing on it right now. It was actually just working 2 hours ago, then I left to do some homework, came back, and could not connect.
The server is working and that is not the problem but something might be wrong with my client or computer (hence "internal client error). Is there any way I can troubleshoot to figure out what exactly the problem is so I can go and fix it?
*****I KNOW I CAN'T USE THE NAME HARDCORE MODE AS DESCRIBED IN THE ALREADY POSTED IDEAS POST, BUT IT'S THE BEST DESCRIPTION AND IS NOT THE SAME "HARDCORE MODE" AS IN THE ALREADY POSTED POST*****
There is no TL;DR, BUT the bolded text works the same way.
Remember how that first couple of nights feel like, where Minecraft actually feels difficult (unless you have a bed) and you really need to try to survive?
The whole idea of this Hardcore Mode is very much inspired by Fallout: New Vegas's Hardcore Mode. It will be a mode that makes the game extremely hard and completely the opposite of Creative. It will not emphasize building cool buildings but rather getting through each night safely. Hardcore mode could be activated by clicking on the game difficulty button, adding Hardcore to the present options: Peaceful, Easy, Normal, and Hard.
First, mobs will need to be MUCH more common, so much that it isn't safe to go out at night. However, too many mobs will just result in waiting for the morning or sleeping every night.
Second, stackable food needs to be removed or either toned down to stacks of 4 or 8. Stacks of 64 are ridiculous as you will never run out therefore health always regenerates and you never die. Which brings me to my third point.
Third, health should regenerate at a slower rate, maybe about 75% the rate of what it is now.
Fourth, in SSP and SMP, many people retreat into their houses to sleep at night, essentially removing the point of night as most mobs die in sunlight. (The exceptions being creepers and spiders which turn neutral in daytime.) The fix to this would be to remove beds in hardcore mode. However, beds can exist and be made but only as decoration as not to mess up existing worlds. Also, spiders will not be neutral in the daytime. However, you can set your spawn to a bed by right-clicking it.
Fifth, attacking while jumping now gives you a 100% chance to critically hit. Pretty much, damage is doubled because who wouldn't take advantage of this? In Hardcore Mode, critical hits as well as blocking with a sword (by right-clicking) would be removed.
Sixth, Hardcore mode can be selected as an option before generating a world. If this is selected the world will spawn ores at much a lower rate and NPC villages will not come with built-in wheat farms.
Seventh, a thirst meter should be added that can be replenished by drinking buckets of water or milk. (More so from water.) The thirst bar will degenerate over time and when it is empty, you (extremely slowly) lose health over time as well as experience a damage reduction. Thirst will degenerate faster on or near the surface of desert biomes.
Please tell me what you think if you made it through this wall of text.
Apparently, all the orbs you pick up just scatter when you die like your items. If you have a lot it tends to lag the hell out of your world. Was wondering if anybody was having this problem and the best way to fix it.
This update is pretty good, as we all know. But it is really an adventure update? It's not really adventureous. No bosses, no npcs, no experince and level ups. To me its just an advanced version of survival. And nowhere in the real game does it say adventure. Can you really call it adventure?
It's only a pre-release so far. There is exp and level ups but nothing to spend it on, YET. There will be NPCs and probably bosses, so just be patient, Minecraft is a WIP.

Do you know if there was an update for either Minecraft or Java that made it work?

My only complaint was the soul sand race, it took me a while to beat it in the 1.8 version.
