Did it launch successfully?
You could download FileZilla and go to where you placed the server and take the world and put it in your .minecraft/saves Make sure your host: Is the Linux IPv4 Username: (Linux User's Username) Password: (Password for linux) Port should be: 22
and you should have access to all files. PuTTy can work to (Just search tutorials)
Have you tried loading the world on singleplayer?
Anyways If it is a home server, Please Check the IP and Port in your server.properties.
