@Itanthias i was inspired by your compression system ...

Edit: simple solution , just add cobweb , it sometimes fail but have chance to great range shot

Glad to hear that you were inspired! Also, very clever using the cobweb! How far does your cannon go?

i made a small tnt cannon with compressing tnt's but if i compress this to 1 block it has same power as 1 block of tnt :sad.gif:Embed Removed Embed Removed

I am assuming that all the Fuel TNT are compressed to one block by the compressor TNT.
In that case you are suffering from Implosion.
Conumdrumer discovered it, and I have empirically verified it with experiments of my own.
Implosion is when fuel TNT in the SAME EXACT spot detonate at the same time, and some of the explosions are ramdomly canceled.
I have no idea why this happens.
To solve this issue you need to somehow set each fuel TNT just SLIGHTLY off from each other.
Vertical gravity compressors work the best because the TNT jump separates them slightly (be sure the TNT are free to jump in at least two directions for optimal performance.)

P.S. to Teslaptak. I really enjoy the TNT compressor system, youtube MRCC cannon to see a massive compressor cannon.

I have always loved cannons. The first one I made was just a basic one, but then I made one which had two rows of boosters, then one with ten rows of boosters! The best one I have made is 4 automatic reloading piston cannons, hooked together on a timer. Now I am going to see the imperial avenger, just because of it's awesome name.

Sweet! Do you have any pictures of your piston cannons? I would love to see them!

I am not sure where the long distance cannon arm race began, but I began with the MRCC cannon with a range of 1729 Meters,
Then EragonEST777 bested me with a shot of 2850 meters.
Now I have beat him again with 3543 Meters!

Here is my latest submission to distance science!
    I call it Sanctum.
I overdesigned this cannon because at full load Minecraft crashes.
(Also, even water cannot prevent the cannon from self destructing)
This cannon can compress ALL of the Fuel TNT to the one square behind the missile TNT.
This is the most efficient piston based cannon in terms of power.

(untill we can get TNT closer than one square to the Missile TNT, This is were power maxes out)

Thanks, It started by having multiple, simple cannons, but I ran into problems with spacing, I could only fit 2 or 3 on each side without crossing the wires. So I decided to see if I could combine them into 1 big cannon.
Well, as they say, sometimes the outcome is bigger then the sum of it's parts.

This line cannon should help me immensely in creating a "carpet bomb shell"!
Sorry I have not posted any videos of my shells; a combination of brutal school work and a sidetrack into Super-Long-Range cannons has distracted me.

    This is just godly.
    I applaud you good sir.
hmmm.... Can this be made into a dual rail system?.....

Most of you guys go for the tnt accuracy and such, I just lobbed a cannonball 5000 blocks, Im pretty satisfied.

That seems a little ridiculous. The current record is only about 2800 Blocks. I would love to see a cannon reach that far, but until we have pictures and a successful replication, or a video, I remain skeptical.

Ok, today I built a wonderful vertical cannon without your help, but I wanted to make a smaller version with half amount of TNT and the shell was too low and destroyed this cannon. How can I build it smaller with the same range?

To improve TNT efficiency (use half the fuel TNT for the same range) you need to get the fuel TNT closer to the Missile TNT. One of 2 methods can compress the Fuel TNT.

Pre-explode some TNT and use its blast to compress the lit Fuel TNT
Or use pistons to compress the TNT.

Good luck with your Cannon, I would love to see a small hidden vertical cannon!

sorry it took so long, i had a test at school :S

so here is the cannon extended:

    and the shot spread pattern:

hope you got what you wanted :smile.gif:

That looks awesome! I like the spread. Also, very clever with altering the TNT in mid flight with that platform. This would make for an excellent defensive cannon, Thanks for showing us your cannon!

i'd add more rails, but i'd need a delay and rewire all the redstone. this gets an arc of about 15 degreess

I don't know what kind of arc you are looking for, but changing to a full block launch system will make a 30 to 45 degree launch. It is a little complicated to get between 15 and 30 degrees (because of the lack of a 3/4 block). I would try detonating a fuel TNT in front of the Missile TNT to force the missile upwards a little bit.

    i think i might got what i want :biggrin.gif:

it shoots a triple tnt shell as it falls and makes it hit that layer of glowstone changing its direction and allows it to hit the ground before explosion :smile.gif:

the cannon if you are interested:

    what do you think?

I like it! It seems to have a good spread pattern. what happens if you extend the cannon to launch a 5 shell shot?

I have a problem with my cannons, the arc is too low.

I've tried replacing the launch block with a cake, slab, full block, and my original slab was the best. Cake was the same. Adding more tnt (to the back) made the arc even flatter and the range lower. Taking out blocks in the back resulted in a slightly higher arc but dimished range. Maybe this is because the tnt jumps *away* from my propulsion tnt, but my propulsion tnt should jump forwards too. As of now, i can only get 200 ish blocks with 28 tnt, but increasing the arc should make that more.

hmmm... If we had a picture I could give you a specific solution, but if you need more arc, place the removed back TNT in the front, AKA have a shorter rail with more layers. That should solve your problem.

This looks like a great and organized Clan, I wish I had the time to participate on PVP servers. Because I don't have the time to give to this clan, I will not bother filling out an application.

However, I do wish to help in my own way. I am rather acquainted with TNT cannon science and I am currently looking for high Missile-to-Fuel ratio cannons. If I were to know the limitations of a high performing clan such as yours, I will be able to design a cannon specifically for your needs.

Feel free to take my services or not (how useful are cannons?), but here are a few starting questions if you take my offer.
How much TNT per shot do you want?
Do you want a long range surface cannon, short range destructive cannon, or sub-terrain drilling cannon?
and what build time do you prefer, long and efficient, or short and mobile?

hey there, i was wondering what is the longest range cannon (in blocks) around? because i need something that goes about 150 blocks on plain.
    can you help me?

    -VolcaneR

Well, I made a cannon, called the MRCC cannon, that fires up to 1729 meters, but EragonEST777 holds the record with a proven 2850 meter shot.
Those numbers seem a little overkill, so I would suggest designing a cannon of your own.
a 150 meter cannon should need about 28 fuel TNT (I think....) with a trap door launch pad.
Use the imperial avenger format, with two rails of 2X7 TNT.
I will let you know if I find or make a 150 meter cannon!
