If it was his hobby, why didn't he just give the game away for free?

You're friggan gullible dude. Notch is a marketing genius. You bought a game, he called it beta, he said he was a hobbyist and now you can't complain when he decides to stop developing the game in an unfinished state.

You tell me if you're satisfied with the game when it's released. I guarantee it will be buggy as hell, and probably laggy and unfinished. Notch will be too busy playing Skyrim and use your argument against you. "Yea, it was a hobby. I'm done with it."
You're a class A idiot. I don't give the **** I make as a hobby away for free either. Who the hell would? I'm satisfied with the game as it is now. You know that little clause on the buy page and in the ToS that said when you bought the game you bought it as is? Maybe you should have read that you retard.

I got what I paid for and any updates are just extra. Notch by all rights could have charged for those as well. I have every right to complain when and if Notch decides to stop developing Minecraft. Does that mean I will? That entirely depends on when and in what state the game is in when he does so but until that happens I have no reason to. Do I have a moral or legal right to say he has to continue developing it at all? Nope. He was upfront about the way he was developing the game and what I paid for. You chose to either ignore it or didn't bother to read it in the first place.

No, I just understand what integrity is.

You really think that the way minecraft is being developed is going to change when it get out of beta and into full release?

    Don't be so gullible.

Maybe if people had good arguments, they wouldn't have to bash me for being correct.

Instead you'd just rather me "stfu and play the game"

Since I paid for it, that's not gonna happen. I work for my money.
You're not correct. An opinion cannot be correct idiot. You have an opinion that Notch has no integrity and is a worthless lazy ****. I disagree. He hasn't drawn me in and tricked me like you seem to think you have been, so kindly don't lump me in with you in the gullible category.

I knew when I bought this game it was a hobby for the developer, and I never expected it to suddenly change just because said developer formed a company to make more games. Maybe you should get over your preconceived notions of how this game should be developed instead of trying to push your views on others by brow-beating them with ad-hominem attacks.

Notch has been consistent in how he has developed Minecraft from the moment I bought the game until now. Following both his philosophy on releases (RERO: https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Release_early,_release_often ) and his vision for the game as a whole. Whether you think this is correct or not is your opinion, but do not present that as fact and then insult anyone who disagrees.

Because everyone is satisfied with the game being a "beta" and Notch coding minecraft as a "hobby"

Back in the day, we used to place value on integrity.

Now we have a generation of people who are lazy, or used to being disappointed and have accepted that, so if someone doesn't have integrity they don't care.

That's the only reason I can see.
Or they simply disagree with you? Oh wait I forgot, with you it's either they agree or are lazy ****s who don't care.

Lol, you can build with them. They provide protecting from the elements. Mooshrooms are pretty dumb. What is their use? They're easy food, but how helpful is that? After 3 days of farming I have like 40 bread, no Mooshrooms needed.
This is the problem in your way of thinking. Just because you won't have a use for them doesn't mean someone else won't For a game about choice I would think this much would be obvious. If someone doesn't want to dedicate the space to farming wheat they can fence in a mooshroom and get just as much food as they have bowls for. Much more space efficient than a wheat farm. (The draw back being stew doesn't stack.)

The release date matter because then, it WILL be a finished game. By then, it should be done, and after that, updates would just add, not fix the game. It would render the "it's still an unfinished game, in beta," argument, not useable.
How many games ship finished in this era of PC gaming? Very few that I've played. Plenty have needed bugfixing/balancing post-release and I don't see this paradigm changing. To insinuate that the core game features won't be there at release seems a little disingenuous. Especially as they can always move the release date back.

Agreed on Snow Golems. They're kind of half assed looking and useless.
Disagree, I already have several uses for these litte suicidal snowmen. Automated mob-sorter/automated record studios being the most rewarding ones.

With the release date around the corner, they should really be working on fixing what's broken, giving uses to the many ignored features already in the game that were by now supposed to have a use. I can't stand behind what they've been doing lately of adding things and not giving them a purpose till much later on.

If they get the core game done first, then they can add details like Mooshrooms. But adding them now is pretty dumb.
Why is the release date even a concern? Notch has repeatedly said he will continue to update post-release. Besides the core game is pretty much done. The only major things left are fleshing out NPC's and Breeding. Breeding will most likely be in the next pre-release as Notch is working on it right now. Which leaves 1.10 for NPC's (questing/EXP goes here) and polishing/bugfixing.

It's not as if giving a use to the handful of new items from 1.8/1.9 and fleshing out the idea for biome specific mobs is a huge timesink that will prevent these things from being done.

After crying of five minutes because you called me a gayfish, I still think you're wrong. This is feedback. We'd like Mojang to fix things before adding new ones.

Don't know what e-peen means, but I'm pretty sure its some anti-social life term I'm pretty happy I don't know.

Also, I do agree, more people post in the negative than the affirmative. Which is exactly why I'm posting, but you're here completely defending bad game design. A game is designed by finishing thing's you've started. Their work on the game is extremely erratic.
Nope, I am just giving them the benefit of the doubt that there are extenuating circumstances in their prioritization. I also don't think a half hour here or there to create little details detracts from the overall development of the game.

You see bad game design, I see an incomplete picture. I also am aware that Notch's design philosophy is to release early and often. I'm not a programmer so I don't know the strengths of this method but there are obviously some because it's not like Notch is the only one to follow it. https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Release_early_release_often

Either way I'd hardly call it bad game design.

    feed·back (fdbk)
    n.
    1.
    a. The return of a portion of the output of a process or system to the input, especially when used to maintain performance or to control a system or process.
    b. The portion of the output so returned.

Feedback tells you how people are responding to something. If something is getting a negative response, than something is done to change it. That's how feedback works.
Only when you look at the feedback as a whole. Equating this forum's whiny sperg fests with each update to productive feedback, or even marginally balanced feedback from the whole community is retarded. Even then it's not as if Mojang has an obligation to listen, especially if it goes against their vision for the game.

Lol umad that I have a higher reputation than you with 1/3 the posts? Not that it's what I'm after, but it shows that people feel the same way as I do, more than they agree with your point of view which is, let Mojang do whatever, they will make the best game ever on their own, without our feedback.
No, but umad that Mojang won't listen to you. Game design is not done by committee. Feedback does not lead game design either. Get it through you dense gayfish brain that feedback does not equate to changes in design decisions will you?

The reputation argument is beyond retarded. You cannot rely on forum reputation to gauge what a community wants, as people are always more apt to post and complain than they are to post in the affirmative. If Notch went by reputation he would never add anything since this forum hates everything that doesn't fit the vocal poster's vision of what Minecraft should be.

Keep on measuring your e-peen though bro, it really matters since there is not a neg-rep button to balance it out.

Are you ten years old? I think you are. Minecraft doesn't work like that, it's a community based game where the community comes together to ask Mojang on how the game should be improved... its always been like that.
LOL, no. It's always been about Notch's vision, and occasionally he takes on suggestions from the community. Stop bumping this awful thread people. God damnit, now I've bumped it.

I understand the graphics of pixels, but a chicken looks graphically better than these horrible NPCs. It's serious when I waste my money on something that isn't took seriously. Mineshafter user I suppose?
WTF is mineshafter? So because some ugly NPCs were added suddenly you wasted your money on Minecraft? That sucks.

Some of us (myself included) like these ugly ass NPC's because they're unique and EASILY changed to suit anyone's taste by simply dropping a zip with new textures in a folder. All the vanilla textures are crap IMO. Doesn't make me feel like I wasted any money on a game about blocks, since the blocks are still there and I can do anything I could before with them.

You still haven't addressed how silly things (among which the Snow Golem is completely optional, since it has to be crafted.) is ruining the seriousness of a game with a bunch of fantasy mobs in a world of blocks.
