Loving the mod a ton FlowerChild, I've been keeping up on the patch notes and some of the topics in your forums, and your attention to detail and balance continues to astound me time and again. So much of what you have done with BtW makes so much sence and is what vMC should aspire to be.

Though I can't help but feel the pangs of dissapointment at your possible decision to no longer keep BtW updates to the latest vMC version. I was gonna type something longer, but to sum it up, I've seen a lot of "this new content has no gameplay value" being tossed around on your forums.

I can't help but think to myself "Why does everything have to have some deep gameplay impact?" Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending Mojang. But as far as BtW is concerned, it's free content, why not take advantage of it? But thats just my two emeralds. . .

Still looking for assistance on this issue.
While I'm waiting for that, I'm going to try some .jar flopping to see if I can fool the launcher or something.

Yes, I've tried that before, and I also just did it again now before writing this post.
Loading with the default profile and latest version of MC - all sounds are fine.

As soon as I make another Launcher profile and select 1.5.2 to be installed, all sounds dissapear except a select few.

Just got home and ended up responding to another topic, thinking it was my own, I might be tired. . .
Anywho, I did try a couple things from that topic:

Picking the default texture/resource pack in 1.5.2 in the game options did not restore my sound.
The console output on the new launcher did not show any errors that I could identify.

    Howdy, I'm Isaak

Just today I was going to clear out my Minecraft folder and redownload fresh to be able to install the updated version of Better than Wolves. But WOAH you say, this is the unmodified client support forum!

Yes, I first noticed the issue while installing the mod, but I have since cleared out my entire Minecraft folder again and have totally confirmed I am having this issue with vanilla "freshly downloaded" Minecraft.

The problem is, that when using the new launcher (1.0.8) if I load a version of Minecraft OTHER than the 1.6.1 release then most of the sounds stop working.

I know this is not a volume issue because I can hear the "block break" sound, splashing out of water, and the clicking of chicken feet, but nothing else makes any sounds at all. Not even the little click sound when using the main menu.

If I load 1.6.1, all the sounds come back, load 1.5.2, most sounds go missing.

I'm not sure what changed, my sounds were working perfectly fine up untill I cleared out my folder for a fresh redownload, I havent made any changes that are out of the ordinary. Can anyone give me a hand?

    That's ok, I wouldn't have gone with either :)

Alright then. For my own curiosity, do you know offhand what part of the Minegunner mod was annoyingly complex? I don't recall Minegunner having any movable blocks like the Zipline mod.

But thank you for your time, and may BtW prosper!

    Which?

The mod in question is the old "Ye Olde Minegunner" mod: http://www.minecraft..._hl__minegunner

I loved this mod to death, and I always wanted to play it alongside Better than Wolves, but alas I never could. The weapons were effective and in-theme with Minecraft in my opinion, and I got rather good at manually loading my iron flintlock in the crafting grid while being chased by an angry mob. Only the diamond pepperbox had multiple shots.

There, I did it, I mustered up enough courage and now I can at least say "I asked."

God I need to get back into regularely playing MC with your mod, all these little details make me drool.

This will probably be the only place I can say it cause I will never join your official forum for fear of your wrath. At least here I can just say it and then run and hide.

What would be your stance on "adopting" the functonality of an old (and small) beta-1.2.5 mod?
I totally understand your position on the flood of bad suggestions you get, but I've been biting my
tongue on this for at least a year if not longer.

posted a message on Mod that need to be updated.
I was just about ready to create my own topic about this today, but remembered to do a search first.
Yes I know I am necro-ing this topic at a little over a year after the OP, but I do still think this old mod NEEDS to be adopted.
(I would rather necro a topic than clutter the forum with a new topic on the same subject.)

In my opinion Ye Olde Minegunner is an outstanding mod that died too soon, and it needs someone to bring it back from it's grave.
    http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/251433-173-ye-olde-minegunner/page__hl__minegunner
This mod was simple, effective and challenging in it's own special way, and unlike other mods that I wont mension, it was actually in-theme with Minecraft and was balanced well with it's range of flintlock one-shot pistols.
The origional verion in the thread was for beta 1.2.5, but there are links for beta versions 1.6.6, 1.7.2 and 1.7.3.

In all honesty, I would LOVE to be able to do it myself, but I know I have not the patience to learn java and make this work. :(

For me personally, I would LOVE it if it could be compatable with Better than Wolves, not necessarily balanced with BtW, I just want it able to run alongside BtW without issues.

Otherwise, I have been debating on using Balkon's WeaponMod instead, but I do feel I would rather have Minegunner back instead.

I will now take my leave, hopefully the right person will see this at the right time. :)

posted a message on Minecraft LAN server without internet?
Thats strange, because I've had multiple places say to make sure both are installed if you use both 32-bit and 64-bit version of your browser, which I do, and that you should install the 32-bit version first.

Otherwise I do not have any Mac firewall installed, or anything besides the default Windows 7 built-in firewall. But that shouldn't be the issue as it usually asks if I want to block or unblock somthing as soon as it sees the connection attempt.

Update: (1 hour after initial post)

Well I've tried another approach by attaching my old Linksys WRT54G router between the two laptops.
The router is not connected to the internet, and attaching both laptops to it automatically disables the wireless internet connections.

Went into router options with '192.168.1.1', went to 'applications and gaming' tab and set it up to forward the 25565 port for the ip address of '192.168.1.100' which is what the IvP4 got automatically set to after connecting to the router.

Having set that up I went into the server properties and set the IP to '192.168.1.100' and I still cannot connect through my own laptop or the other laptop.

I just don't know where I'm going wrong.

    Update: (another hour passes)

After some more investigating I think this problem has to do with the "Internal exception: java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out" error that I get when trying to connect to my own server. Usually when this error shows up I also get a notification in the server window about the connection appempt disconnecting.

I tried searching for a solution, but most places are instead filled with people saying they have the problem too or someone just saying that the "Server is down" which isn't much help when you are the one running the server and you know it is running.

Can anyone give me more information about this error?

posted a message on Minecraft LAN server without internet?
    Hello Minecraft forums!

I'm Isaak, I've been trying to get my minecraft server set up for a LAN connection without internet and I've been running into a number of problems along the way. Hopefully one of you can help me out!

Me and my father are going on a big trip into the mountains, it will last about three months. When we get there we will not have any internet access. I'm trying to set up a minecraft server on so that we both can connect our two laptops with a single cable and play with a LAN connection, no routers, no modems.

I've already done a bunch of research on the subject, and followed multiple guides like this one: http://www.minecraft...ork-lan-server/, but I cannot seem to be able to connect to my own server on my laptop at all. Usually I get somthing like it took too long to connect or "Internal exception: java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out" and I'm not sure what to do to solve these issues.

On my system (win7 64-bit), I've installed both Java 32-bit and 64-bit, Minecraft 1.2.5, then I set Java to allocate more memory to Minecraft: http://www.minecraft...o-java-windows/, and then I installed OptifineFine HD C2 Multi-Core: http://www.minecraft...and-much-more/. So far I've only done this on my laptop, I havent even got to the steps where I do the same thing for my fathers laptop or even tried connecting to my server with his yet.

Personally I don't believe OptiFine should have anything to do with this issue, my brother has had servers running before and I have been able to connect to his with OptiFine without issue, but his servers wern't trying to do it over LAN either.

In my Minecraft Server properties file I made sure to leave the ip blank and set it to offline mode, but those dont seem to make any difference. Any advice that might help me out?

    Thanks for your time,
    Isaak

posted a message on Emily's guide to aesthetically pleasing home (Updating soon!)
Awesome guide, I can't wait for the updated tutorial.

On a similar note, I'm trying to bookmark a bunch of links for good Minecraft home tutorials and there is one in particular that I can't seem to find again, no matter what search terms I use or how much I dig in my browser history. :S

This other home builder featured little huts, rather low in their design (usually one floor), very compact, made of wood, used logs a lot, and featured using wooden staircases inside as both walls and shelves at the same time. He had a couple tutorial videos too. (His video featured a dark texture pack, I think it was DOKU.)

If anybody knows who I'm talking about, I would appreciate a link. Other people in this topic might like his style as well. :)

The axle distance limitation is in place for performance reasons. I forget the whole logic behind it but basically, Each minecraft block can only have so many functions before they start to cause "lag", Flower has coded them with the ability to be used in large numbers without this being a problem :biggrin.gif:

    Awww, that sucks.

I guess I didn't think it would be a problem since Redstone can go up to 15 block distance on it own, and far larger with those entire 'computer' setups some people have created, but I'll take your word for it. :smile.gif:

The suggestion still stands, I guess, perhaps in the future at Flowers own discretion.
(Crosses fingers for future ability to get around above mentioned limitation.)
