posted a message on Any Skyrim fans out there?

It's an alright game. Pretty mediocre as an RPG, but as an action-adventure or free roam it's pretty fun.

Plan on starting a new playthrough sometime as I've not played the DLC yet. Probably going to roll an arcane trickster of sorts. (Rogue + Spells) No idea the race yet. Probably either Dunmer or Khajiit.

    Any mod recommendations?

    Laugh tracks.

Honestly, I love a good sit com, but laugh tracks kill a lot of the humor for me.

All memes become stale, so I don't have a favorite.

    I disagree, to an extent.

Memes are like wines. Good ones are meant to be saved, and savored, and only get better with age... whereas bad ones only get worse as time goes on and should be enjoyed while they last.

Arrogance, hypocrisy and a lack of professionalism in professional settings.

[edit] Also, ironically, people getting angry for irrational things makes me really pissed off.

posted a message on Are i5 2500ks still worth it?

Planning on upgrading my PC soon (finally), but I do not have much money available. I was planning on replacing my i3 2100 with an i5 2500k (and a decent aftermarket cooler) and overclock the hell out of it.

I've been out of the circuit for a while when it comes to tech, so was just wondering if it will actually perform well or if I should just pass over it. I'll primarily use it for gaming and some audio editing on various DAWs.

If it is worth upgrading to the i5 2500k, what would be some feasible GPU paths? Preferably under $200

    Other specs:

GPU: XFX 6870 (planning on upgrading this after the CPU)
RAM: Team Elite 8GB 1333mhz (may add more since it's relatively cheap but honestly last priority)
    PSU: Cougar 560W 80+ Bronze

    MoBo: ASRock Z68 PRO3 GEN3

    If it is

I hope it's alright, but I have another question and didn't want to spam the subforum with another thread for it.. If you don't have answers, or simply don't feel like answering, that's fine:

Are Hitachi HDDs still considered unreliable? My main HDD died and I'm looking for an upgrade. Currently using an old WD 500GB salvaged from an old PC, and while the SMART seems fine I'm pretty sure it's also close to death. The cheapest 2TB is a Hitachi, so curious.

    Thank you!

posted a message on The Goodwill thread- Free gift games!

Some of these keys are already taken, and I'm not sure which, so I apologize for that. I got them with the mystery bundles on GMG and forgot to mark which ones I redeemed, and I can't find the keys on steam.

Mostly filler games, but I've heard good things of them. They're all Steam keys.

posted a message on Opinions on a WIP Song

    A little backstory:

The song is built upon an improvisation I did last summer, modifying the lyrics I had come up with on the spot to something I felt more befitting. Heavily influenced by We Need Medicine era of The Fratellis and 50s love songs.

    It's not autobiographical.

    Some notes before listening:

-Not too great to be honest

-Whisper singing in this version as my throat wasn't feeling too well, final version will be louder

    -Final version includes drums

-Near the end of the song there is a solo-esque improvisation. The song would be fading out during this part, not sure why I didn't do it here.

-Considering adding some pipe organ to it (I want the music for this project to be basic, 4 track max songs. So not sure)

-Final version may-or-may-not have overdriven vocals, currently experimenting with this.

Please constructive criticism if possible, if not simply saying you like it/don't like it helps greatly.

    Here's the link. Be gentle.

posted a message on Musicians or Gamers? Which have better academic and physical benefits? [Debate]
    Quote from Deonyi»

'Musicians' are arguably more skilled than those who play video games, as there is much more to think about when playing. You have to think about notes, touch, duration, rubato, tempo, dynamics, style, mechanisms and movement as well as reading music, knowing locations of notes, knowing how t play notes &c. Most games can be easily 'learnt' through intuition, though perhaps good players have faster reaction times.

I'm a pianist/singer so I'm probably a bit biased though. As for academics, music probably helps your brain think more creatively perhaps, though it depends greatly.

As a guitarist, I barely 'think' about anything when playing. I usually just let my hands do what comes naturally.
Occasionally I'll think of what notes I'm playing for a scale (not sure why but my mind absolutely can not learn scales by pattern), but other than that it's pretty much natural playing.

Of course the piano is a much more complex instrument generally, at least imo.
