Mojang just hired 4 new people who are working on almost all of this as we speak. I don't think mojang are planning on setting up any sort of mod/texturepack "store" . Official web hosting for community made content would be cool if that's what you mean, so mod/texturepack makers don't have to **** around with mediafire and the like, but I don't know how feasible that would be.
The editor of the article added [recipe] because he misunderstood Notch. Notch tried to explain to everyone that it wasn't a big deal but no one listened.
Hmmm, guess most people don't care too much about music in minecraft. Just kind of a drag that these never made it into the game, seems like such a waste.
As a lot of people here probably know, C418 composed a tonne of material for Minecraft that isn't currently available in the game. I'm not really sure why it wasn't added, but I think it would be great to see it in game now, especially since there are now places in the game where the cheery, upbeat overworld music doesn't really fit.
Personally I think dark, eerie pieces like this would work wonderfully in the nether.
And this version of 13 with no mob sound effects would be amazing when you first enter the end.
I'm sure uses could be found for these as well.
All of these songs are so amazing, C418 is an incredible composer IMO. I'm really hoping to see the rest of his music added to the game at some point.
I'm guessing it's going to be something no one would guess, as Jeb and Jon have been very good at surprising us thus far. I don't think it'll be anything as predictable as pyramids or mummies. I'm also pretty sure tonnes of people are going to hate the interesting, original thing they end up doing with this because for some reason a lot of people react really negatively to being confronted with something unique rather than the same old stuff.
That doesn't change the fact that they tried to put something deep in a completely unrelated game like Minecraft.
To be fair I don't think the end poem is attempting to be deep at all, I think a lot of people mistake it for an attempt at depth because most of what they've been exposed to is so gut-wrenchingly shallow. Also I think the end poem relates beautifully to minecraft, far more than any sort of narrative or lore ever could. It's the perfect ending I think, it sucks that so many people hated it.
They released it early because Mojang is flying to Denmark for the public unveiling of LEGO Minecraft. That's also why a quick fix hasn't been released, Jeb and Jon are in Denmark right now.
There are only two people working on minecraft, and I'm pretty sure only six coders and Mojang. The other four are all busy with other games, and I'm pretty sure Jeb and Jon operate kind of like this already, so I don't think there would really be much point.
I was really happy about this, and I'm hoping the new mob AI will make it even more difficult. Mob grinders were way too easy to build prior to 1.8, they're still too easy IMO. Pistons and redstone engineering really don't have enough survival applications, and building something as rewarding as a mob grinder really should be a challenge I think.
I think torches burning out is problematic because chunks stop updating when you get a certain distance away from them, and because it would front load challenge to the early stages of the game when it should be easiest. This is already a serious problem and torches burning out would only make it worse. This idea was scrapped for a reason.
A nice looking lantern block made out of glowstone wouldn't be a bad addition, as glowstone is pretty ugly outside of the nether, but Jeb and Jon already have enough on their plate.

The bukkit team has done a good job keeping busy since mojang hired them.

Are you staying close to the chunk you planted it in?
