As a new world type, yeah why not?

However, I think default worlds should stay the same (although I could stand for some actual mountains.), the space above the clouds is perfect for building sky islands.

posted a message on Dear Mojang: Why the Addition of a Few More Weapons Would be Good for Minecraft
I've thought about this, and as much as I don't want to say that a new melee weapon be added, I feel it's a good idea to add maces to the game.

Maces are a blunt weapon, which means that armor will absorb a lot of damage from them. But the damage doesn't just go away, when you take damage from a mace, most of that damage goes to the armor instead of you. So a mace is designed to smash apart your armor, making you vulnerable. This means people can't just rely on overpowered armor, because if someone with a mace comes in it will smash it to pieces.

Soooo... A Leonardo DaVinchi-ish crazy contraption that fires bows at ridiculously high rates? Hmmmm....

Maybe, if it was something you had to place down and load with arrows manually? I think that forces more strategy upon the player then a simple spray-n-pray style weapon.

posted a message on Why does everyone at my school hate minecraft?
I suggest insulting them. It always seems to work for me.

Bully: "Hah, what's that stupid game your playing looks like a piece of <CENSOR>"

Me: "You wouldn't know a good game if it came up to you and hit you in the face. Which explains why you only play COD."

By that point they're normally so frustrated and angry they don't even think to beat you up. They just try to play it off like it never happened. Although I don't advise saying anything to them without a teacher around. Kids nowadays are pretty violent. (However on the plus side if you get them to hit you they might get in-school suspension.)

IncredibleMeh: giving bad advice to children since 1996.

For the love of all that is respectable, do not use the term gay to describe things you don't like. I know this is horribly off topic, but really, just please don't do what you just did there. It's offensive, rude, and it can make you look horribly ignorant.

Above are plenty of rather insulting examples of various terrible ideas some people just won't let die. I apologize in advance for anyone I may have horribly offended. No really, I am sorry. I was given a place to vent, so I vented. Certain people on the suggestion board can really frustrate me at times.

(I slightly disagree with #5 of the original post, since in my opinion you can get away with taming spiders. I see them not as an enemy but more of an animal that needs to eat and just happens to pick you as it's next meal. Also I sort of think riding on a giant spider is kind of really freaking awesome. Mostly because when I was younger I had a dream about befreinding giant spiders, and leading an entire army of them into battle. Wait, just had an idea: make spiders attack cows and pigs.)

Edit: Forgot about necromancy. Not necroing threads, I mean actual necromancy.

posted a message on The Chalice from the Palace and the Flagon with the Dragon
    Quote from Woodruff

I don't see at all the benefit of 'falsely naming' potion in survival. It is only really useful in SMP, and minecraft doesn't revolve around it. And also golden bottles? They would be yet another useless addition.

Yeah, but they would be FUN useless editions. Fun being the keyword here. You aren't supposed to make a golden cup for practical purposes, but because it looks cool. Seriously, who the heck ever owns golden cups for reason other then that they look cool? How did you jump to the conclusion that it was ever supposed to have a practical purpose?

Also, their are a fair number of things that aren't as useful in SSP. Maps, various complex traps, command blocks, books, etc. Just because something isn't as fun on your own doesn't mean other people who play on servers shouldn't get it.

P.S: This might also be useful for adventure maps.

Hawkins: I've got it! I've got it! The pellet with the poison's in the vessel with the pestle; the chalice from the palace has the brew that is true! Right?
Griselda: Right. But there's been a change: they broke the chalice from the palace!
Hawkins: They *broke* the chalice from the palace?
Griselda: And replaced it with a flagon.
    Hawkins: A flagon...?
Griselda: With the figure of a dragon.
    Hawkins: Flagon with a dragon.
    Griselda: Right.
Hawkins: But did you put the pellet with the poison in the vessel with the pestle?
Griselda: No! The pellet with the poison's in the flagon with the dragon! The vessel with the pestle has the brew that is true!
Hawkins: The pellet with the poison's in the flagon with the dragon; the vessel with the pestle has the brew that is true.
    Griselda: Just remember that.

I'm sure many of you have fond memories of the scene up above. A rather hilarious one displaying the confusion caused when you have to remember which cup you placed the extremely fatal poison in. Wouldn't it be nice to have moments like these in Minecraft? In a sense, you can, thanks to the potions. However, it is horribly easy to tell if someone actually poisoned your drink, since the effects of potions are helpfully displayed for you every time you move your mouse over it.

I propose a wonderfully devious way to taint someone's potions, so you can laugh maniacally when your enemies drink their last drop, weak from the potent potion of poison they drank, and not the potion of healing they thought they did.

The process is simple. First, you create the desired harmful potion, then you dilute the potion using a bottle of water. You then mix in the desired ingredients, behaving as if your creating any potion with helpful effects. The ingredients used after you dilute it with water are not used up, as your only using a small bit of it and not actually creating a potion with new effects. The color, name, and displayed effects are changed to match the potion you chose.

For example: If you make a potion of weakness, then mix that with water, then put in the ingredients required to make a potion of strength, the potions true nature is hidden. Anyone who drinks the potion may believe it will give them a positive effect.

However, if you fear of becoming paranoid, fear not! There is an easy way to tell if a potion is not what it seems. The name becomes italicized, and it does not glow as brightly. Only if you are not careful can you fail to spot these signs of a good potion gone bad (or is that bad gone good?)

As an added bonus, I propose one more related but rather small suggestion be added as well! I suggest golden cups be added to the game, because when you serve someone their last drink, you should serve it to them the best way you can! With an over expensive fancy drinking implement that works no different from plain old glass bottles!

posted a message on Bombs and Bomb Arrows
    Quote from 0_Zippy

Any mob can be easily put down with normal arrows, so explosive arrows would be overpowered. Same thing with the bombs. Stationary TNT traps get the job done just fine. "Entirely optional"? What? This wouldn't be the case on multiplayer, and adding "oh but it can be optional" is a horrible thing to add to a suggestion that can make people hate it more.

If your suggestion is balanced enough, there's no need for it to be optional...

There appears to be a misunderstanding. By "optional", I believe he/she meant that the idea was subject to change, not the "this is optional so complaining that you don't want to use it isn't fair" arguement.

Also, I think the he/she/shklee/it had intended that the bombs be used to attack a large group of mobs, not a single one. While it may be true that the item is overpowered, instead of dismissing the idea, you can simply ask the person who made the idea to change it. Allow me to demonstrate.

    *ahem*

Dear sir/madam, would you be willing to tone down the power of this new item, to better suit the player experience? For example, you could possibly change the recipe to replace leather with iron, or perhaps make bomb arrows take longer to charge then regular ones? Thank you for taking my suggestion to your suggestion into consideration.

posted a message on Bombs and Bomb Arrows
The thought of making bombs out of leather is an interesting one, never heard that before. I like this idea, I've personally thought that some form of projectile explosive should be added to the game for some time. I like how you decided regular bombs should have a fuse, and you need to make arrow mobs if you want to create an explosion on impact. Although, I fear many people will dismiss this idea because of it's similarity with The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Even though it shares similarities with the bombs from the game, It provides to many interesting new options to pass up.

    Quote from ArrogantLobster

We already have TNT. another "bomb" doesn't make any sense.

It makes perfect sense. Setting and lighting TNT takes time, and if your ambushed you won't be able to react quickly using explosives. These bombs however provide many new options. You can quickly throw a bomb and run, so it's fr more suited for combat then TNT. You can also throw bombs through open windows, something you most definitley can not do with TNT.

posted a message on Dear Mojang: Why the Addition of a Few More Weapons Would be Good for Minecraft
Perhaps you are right, but it still would encourage the sniper tactic, which as I previously stated, anyone decent person who's played any kind of shooter tends to find very very annoying. It is my personal believe that crossbows can not be added because they are considered a sniper-oriented weapon. Iron is fairly easy to get a hold of. Crossbows and bolts would most likely be made of iron and wood. Add a relativly was to get sniper-oriented weapon to the game an all PvP will become is a bunch of jerks shooting at us from atop dirt towers, destroying everyone. Heck PvP is already pretty close to that know.

We do not want to encourage that kind of behavior. When I want to fight, I want to fight because fighting is fun, not because I want to kill as many people as possible. Getting constantly killed whilst you are trying to enjoy yourself is not fun.

posted a message on Some Possible Benefits of Befriending Testificates
So, a few things I thought of that would give people a reason to not just murderize every testificate they see:

Villagers can follow you if you are on good terms with them. When the trading GUI pops up, their is a little button you can click to make them follow you. You can click this button again and they will go about their daily business.

If you decide to befreind villagers, iron golems won't immediately become aggresive if you accidentily attack villagers. However, causing to much harm to villagers or outright killing them will cause the golem to attack. The golem will defend any player the villagers like as well. If other players or mobs attack the them, the golem will become aggresive and attack said player or mob.

Golems will also immediately attack anyone who has an especially negative relationship with testificates. This gives people reason to avoid killing off a village that doesn't have any golem to protect it.

posted a message on Eye of the Nether
So, you had a frustrating time finding a nether fortress, so you decided a dublicate of the Eye of Ender needed to be added to the game? You even went to the point of calling it Eye of the Nether. At the very least you could come up with an orignal name.

Yes, perhaps nether fortresses are hard to find, but you don't need to blatantly copy another feature of the game to solve the problem, you can come up with something more creative. Like others have said, an item similar to a nether compass is far more plausible then an eye of ender dedicated to the Nether.
