Nov 25, 2012I like the idea for calibration, but if you don't mind I have a bit of a suggestion. Why just limit the compass to portal blocks? If you could make the compass point towards any specific area I think it's functionality would increase drastically.Posted in: Suggestions

make a danny phantom skin to go with and I might support
Couldn't make one if I wanted to, I'm not very skilled with making skins. Besides, I don't except bribes. You either like the idea or you don't.

Well, I was thinking it would be something along the lines of staff members being able to switch chat tabs between active and ghost players and only the ones in the tab he was talking to could see it.
I added a new line talking about how ops can see and hear spirits of the dead and such using commands. (Ghosts talk to each other using a completely separate chat group, but it is possible for you to be in the two groups at the same time.)
Nov 16, 2012I think the Youtubers I hate the most...Posted in: Discussion
Well, I do have an issue with Pbat. He banned me from commenting on his videos (or even subscribing to him). The thing is, I was banned before I even knew of his existence, so he essentially banned me for no reason. I've also discovered recently he's been banning a lot of his fans for what seems like very trivial reasons.
I also have a few problems with Team Avolition, although I don't know who doesn't nowadays.
Outside of that, I don't really have any issues with anyone, I guess I'm not a very hateful person.
Nov 16, 2012Not only is this idea completely unwanted by everyone, but I'm fairly certain the developers have already stated that they will never ever never forever never never ever ever put anything related to Herobrine in the game.Posted in: Suggestions
Besides, Herobrine isn't actually a bad guy, he's just to shy to talk to anyone. He's less like an evil villain and more like a wandering spirit.
Nov 16, 2012Minecraft is by far the most original, fun, and downright frustrating game I've ever played. It's far from dead, we've gotten loads of new features that we never had before, and they all bring us newer greater options to explore and discover. At least, that's how I see it.Posted in: Recent Updates and Snapshots
Minecraft is only as original as you are. If you lack imagination and creativity, the game just simply won't be any fun for you. You have to be able to dream of new creations to build, and wish for new features to added. Only those with a true spark of creativity can enjoy the game to it's absolute fullest.
You probably feel like the game is loosing it's originality because you can't figure out what to do with the features added.

It isn't a bad idea, but I really don't see a point in adding it. Especially if all you can do is just fly around and not talk to anyone or do anything. I would just play on a different server if I died on a hardcore server and hope that they eventually unban me. This is even more true when you think about the fact that server sizes can be rather limited, so I doubt admins would want slots being filled by ghosts.
One small suggestion I would change is to let ghosts talk to each other and be able to communicate with staff members.
I had to think about the issue with server size a bit. I first thought that ghosts could have they're own separate player count, but that would have made things to complicated. So I made the decision to give the admins the choice to choose whether they would have ghosts or simply ban players who died.
Ghosts being able to talk with each other seems like a great idea though. It would make things a lot less lonely. i'm not sure about talking to staff members though, it would be a bit odd and confusing reading an op have a conversation with someone you can't tell is even there.
Nov 15, 2012Seems pretty interesting, I like it. Although, being able to drop items on the ground with Q further seems like it would be more of a nuisance than a benefit, but maybe you meant it to be that way.Posted in: Suggestions
Nov 15, 2012Ghost mode is a new game mode I came up with. It is what I would consider to be the exact opposite of creative and survival mode, and in a sense one might consider ghost mode to adventure as creative is to survival.Posted in: Suggestions
Ghost mode's main purpose is to provide an alternative to being completely banned from a hardcore server when you die. Instead of banning, people are switched into ghost mode, where they can freely fly around, and view the world and the other players who haven't yet died. In this mode, you are completely incapable of interacting with the world around you, save fore looking inside chests. Other players can not see you, and you can not speak (or in this case, chat) with them. Ghosts can talk with each other though, so you won't feel lonely at least.
This would also allow people to be given a second chance if you so desired. While you could unban people who die in the current version of hardcore mode, the chances that they would come back to check if they've been unbanned are minimal. If someone was instead put in ghost mode, then you could simply switch their gamemode and they would be aware of the fact that they ever got a second chance in the first place.
Operators have access to commands that allow them to chat with and even see ghosts (and possibly even allow players to see and chat to ghosts as well.)
If having the wandering spirits of the damned roam you server doesn't suit well with you, then there's a new line in the server properties file that let's you change it so that players are banned instead.
I hope for some good constructive criticism, and some nice feedback! But I get what I get, if no one likes it I won't argue.
Nov 10, 2012Pirating is a sensitive issue. To be truthfull, there really isn't much you can do about pirating, people always find a way, so it's sort of silly to put so much effort into stopping pirating.Posted in: Discussion
The truth is, there really is only one true way to combat pirating. You have to not be a corporate jerk, and the fine people at Mojang succeed at that greatly. If your a nice person, people will want to be nice back, and I think Notch understood this from the beginning. And an excellent way of not being a corporate jerk is to not try to put the smack down on pirates.
On a much lighter note, I recommend that you all go and download a copy Cory Doctorow's new book Pirate Cinema (which as you might have guessed from the title has to do with pirating, which is why it's related with this topic.) He's set up a free download on his website, so go read it! The book has some very insightful opinions internet crimes, more so then I can offer atleast.
Nov 10, 2012At the very least the cost needs to be low enough that renaming items isn't a huge chore. At most I only ever find myself with maybe one or two levels after about ten ingame days. At that point I have at least one iron pickaxe and maybe an iron sword too. I'd like to be able to get enough ingots to make an anvil, and then name something soon after that. There's a special sort of pride about naming something you know, it makes it feel like that item belongs to you and no one else.Posted in: Suggestions
As for the whole issue with "unwanted messages", such is the endless battleground that is the internet. No matter what you do, it's inevitable that some jerk will name his tools something disgusting just to make you upset, and the only way to avoid it is to grab a group of friends and play on a private server.
Nov 10, 2012The computers at my school have Windows Vista...Posted in: Discussion
I tend to stay stay as far away as possible from that operating system. Plus, no graphics cards either. I did bring my laptop to school at one point, and for a good while I got away with playing Minecraft on that.
One of my classmates compared Minecraft to WoW at one point. I still resent them for it. (My classmates are ignorant enough to believe that anyone who plays games one their computer is addicted to WoW, which I think says enough about how intelligent they are.
Nov 9, 2012Not a bad idea. It would also be a bit interesting if they went around collecting the crops that grow around the village. I like the house as well, it was really clever how you used the stair blocks to create a bench.Posted in: Suggestions

If it will be an alternate worldtype, the 'default' worldtype will remain untouched. And you know that there's a skyland dimension coming already, right? Not sure when, but it will come... ever.
Feh, never felt comfortable with having a whole dimension for sky islands. I always liked the idea of them spawning above the clouds in the overworld.

You mean a dispensor? That kind of defeats the purpose of the thread.
Dispensers can't fire as fast as Beta-bows. I mean something you place, load, aim, then fire like mad. Like some crazy wooden machine gun sitting on top of a tower. (Please forgive me if this sounds ridiculous. My brain is in "I wonder what if..." mode right now.)

Mar 9, 2012IncredibleMeh posted a message on Minecraft News - Sneak Peak Jeb Interview, XBOX SplitscreenHold on, I don't think it something recent, the last time that notch worked on the game was when 1.0.0 was released. Likely this has something to do with the enderdragon egg, or something notch worked on before the game came out of beta.Posted in: News

It's special code specifically for deadmau5's ears. His character model is different than the normal player's. (I think. I'm not exactly good at reading code. I know he has a special model, and it's in every copy, just disabled. I THINK that looks like it.)
Also, though, on piracy. Notch is really smart at this. I played on a nearly entirely pirated server when I first started multiplayer.
Now, almost every person from that server has purchased a legitimate Minecraft account.
Well damn, I was wondering how his character model was like that. Why isn't this on the wiki yet?
Nov 9, 2011As a student in high school, I am very interested in this. I have a few questions though.Posted in: News
If a student already has a Minecraft account, will they be able to use it? And if they use that account, will their skin be shown instead of the weird skin that's being used as a default?
Also, what kinds of tools would the teacher be able to use?
