Traveled for 2 nights and 3 days to explore a cave I found, only to find it was a tunnel and I could see light from the other side as soon as I stepped in. On the way back I got turned around (didn't bring a compass) gave up and put my stuff in a chest that I still haven't found.
Was on my laggy laptop with fog on high and got lost, mined for maybe half an hour to make a compass, and used it only to find I was about 50 blocks from my house. Took me 1 minute to walk there from where I mined.
Held forward while in my lava-filled branch mine and fell into lava. Twice. Lost a half-health diamond pick and a half-heath iron one, plus a clock.
Blew up said mine with TNT. It uncovered diamond and lapis though so it actually wasn't too stupid. However due to said lava the TNT exploded prematurely.
When the TNT went off (I had wanted to film it) I turned off the computer to try and save it. Good thing I had a backup.
This thread may seem useless, but I remember my first piece of TNT I finally made after many failed monster traps and I was very excited. Dig into a mountainside about 5 blocks and blow it up.
Depends on the look you're going for. I like to use more cobble, it looks more threatening, but smooth stone would be good for a fairytale sort of castle. A mix of both is nice though. I like to use some wood for the inside personally.
I've had Minecraft for a few weeks and know the basics, but I'm very new to SMP. I really don't know anything about it. I've gone on random servers before only to be very confused about where I'm supposed to build, if I'm allowed to cut down trees, etc. and I'm often too shy to ask. So I'm looking for a server where I can get some guidance and learn the ropes of SMP. Vanilla would be best as I'm already confused by servers with things like ranks and currency, as would a fairly new server that doesn't already have a community that's hard to get into established. Can someone please help a noob out?
