posted a message on Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shaders [compatible with Minecraft 1.12.2 via OptiFine]
I am replying to your facebook post Sonic since I don't like using that website.

Slow down and get back to enjoying what you do. As far as people having trouble with the mod the only persons problems you really have to deal with is your own. I know its always great to help people get the mod running for them as it does for you but that's just not logical. There are so many system configurations even triple A titles have a hard time doing what your trying to pull off. As far as I am concerned this is a triple A mod without the millions of dollars backing it to higher 50 programmers just to make everything work for everyone. On top of that even graphic drivers have to be reworked for performance increases in just about every triple A game ever released to help with performance and graphic anomalies. To me you have pulled of something amazing rather it works for everyone or not.

As for as releases go, let me tell you how I look at Minecraft and mods rather its this mod, a different mod, or even a texture pack.

Every aspect of Minecraft is part of the game for me. In other words, I enjoy playing the game, browsing the forums, watching youtube videos of the game, etc. So I feel that even while I write this post I am putting time into a game I enjoy.

I also enjoy looking at the files that come with mods such as the files in my shaders folder. I like to look through the code and comments and play with settings rather they are commented on or not. It's all just more time I spend on the game just in the way I like to spend it. Others may just want to install your mod and have it work 100% for them with 6,000 FPS and graphics you can reach out and touch. That's just unrealistic and you as the mod developer need to step back and think about whats realistic for you.

I personally love all the innovation you are trying to pull off with the v10 mod and so far I haven't spent much time looking at the files or playing with settings but plan to in the near future. In fact I would love it if you released a new set after every single change you make just so I can find out where the change was made and what effect it had on the game. I also liked reading that shader article you posted from the Nvidia website and found it quite interesting. See what I did there? Even I have an unrealistic request

My whole point is that you need to get back to why you started this mod in the first place. I'm sure it wasn't to make anyone happy other then yourself. You probably enjoyed learning everything you have and making people happy was just the icing on the cake.

I really hope you get a chance to read this and it doesn't get lost in the thousands of post this mod gets every day because Sir, you deserve all the diamonds in the world.

I am very impressed with your shaders and here is a pic since you asked for some :)

Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shaders v10 RC3 by Illegal_502, on Flickr

Looks awesome after I busted out my super bright orange lights between the blue wool.

I noticed the orange lights in your first release of the v10 shaders as well. It's not a big deal until you get tons of glowstone or torches in one place.

As for any bugs so far, I havn't noticed any but didn't get to play with them on but for a few min. Although I did notice in gbuffers_terrain.vsh that #define WAVING_GRASS is un commented yet I didn't have waving grass in game, and when I un comment waving wheat, leaves, and fire none of them seemed to work ether. Oh but I didn't look at fire so can't say if fire worked or not.

All settings the way you explained on your facebook post.

    Intel Core i7-2600k @ 4.4 Ghz
    ATI 6950 2gig vram.
    Catalyst version: 12.6
    OpenGL version: 6.14.10.11733

The short time I played my FPS seemed to be a stable 36-40, very nice improvement over the last time I tried running shaders in version 1.2.5 at 25-32 FPS. That means this is playable for me :D

    Edit: 1920x1200 resolution

    - JVM Flags: 2 total; -Xms512m -Xmx1024m

The above line shows that you did not allocate more memory to Minecraft since minecraft normal starts with 512 minimum and 1024 max

In a text editor such as note pad in windows you need to put something like this:

    javaw -Xms1024m -Xmx2048m -jar "C:\Games\Minecraft\Minecraft.exe"

You must change the path in quotes to the path of your minecraft.exe file.

Make sure when you save the file you select all files not .txt and save the file with a name like this: Minecraft.bat

Save the file to your desktop so you can find it. The icon for it should have two blue gears indicating it is a bat file.

You can make sure it worked by going into options and clicking snooper settings.

Scroll down and look at the lines jvm_arg[0] and jvm_arg[1]

512 is half a gig and 1024 is 1 gig of ram.

Never allocate more ram then your system has installed, always try to leave 2 gigs of ram for your system.

Just did testing of my own. And yep, the memory leak is due to the Multi-Core world loading option.
With it on, I hit 2gigs used in about 20 minutes, with it off, I don't even go close to 600mb after an hour of play.

sp614x, hope you can pin-point the source in the actual code.

Also, yay for bug finding! =D

I also noticed a large memory increase after playing for some time, although I have CJB mod installed also and was thinking it could be that. But since I just read this post my mind is made up that it is probably opti-fine and feel that some more testing needs to be done. Although I haven't had minecraft crash on me yet.

Not sure system specs would help in this case but I know they help with most bugs.
    System:
    Intel Core i7-2600k @ 4.4GHz - 4 cores/8 threads
intel P67 Chipset - Asus board
    16 GB DDR3 @ 1600
    128 GB Corsair SSD
    ATI 6950 2 GB

Multi-core turned on in Opti Fine.

If you need my other settings feel free to ask, but I think I have just about everything set as high as it goes, don't think I messed with the chunk settings though other then multi threading.

6 minutes, short huh? You and Xion would get along just fine! Thank you so much for that! It's so interesting seeing my work like that, kind of odd but definitely cool, thank you!! =) I'll be zipping up the pack here shortly and uploading it for you to snag, thank you again so much for your input, do you mind if I showcase your video on my main post?

Nice, go for it. I'm sure someone will do a better job later on but feel free to use it for now.

Odd, ya a little but I'm on a vanilla server so had to hide my main base.

I believe I have a fix for you one moment, let me take a screen shot, am currently down a ravine trying to find emerald ore (which is terribly elusive by the way)..

What do you think of that?

Now that's what I'm talking about. Very nice.

Here is a short video I did with your texture pack and sonic ether's unbelievable shaders.

I have had that issue before, but I found using Magic Launcher or the Tekkit Launcher helped solve that problem. But I am glad 128 runs smooth for you! I am on 32 bit windows so occasionally I have to knock back to 128 myself as well.

@neutralmonkey95 - Thank you so much!!!

@Immersive81 - I fixed the clipping on the chests and it made a drastic improvement for me, additionally I'll see what I can do about changing the color of the metal, are you familiar with how texture packs work, like could I put largechestb.png in there and you'd know how to switch it up if you wanted to change it?

I'm no graphics artiest but I can manage changing up png files and even cut one texture out of a pack to place somewhere else if need be.

That chest from the pic looks a lot better to me now, thanks a bunch. Also here is a pic of the brick I'm talking about.

Oh and by the way, I think my favorite texture is the red stone lamp, it's just plan cool looking.

Faerielight Bricks by Illegal_502, on Flickr

On the left stone and it looks good, to the right cobble stone and it looks amazing, then stone brick , then red stone brick.
All the bricks look nice to me but the stone brick. Its not bad and I could live with it but that is the brick lots of people use to build castles and other structures with and I just feel it could use a little work.

I just love how the other three bricks pop out at you. Stone brick is the only one that doesn't have the same effect.

This is an amazing texture pack you have here and I could go on for a long while telling you what textures I really like but right now I don't have the time so I'll tell you my few minor nitpicks since I'm sure your looking for some feedback.

First off I haven't spent much time with this pack yet but I can tell right now it will be my default pack for now on.

The chest and ender chest look really nice but the metal on them seems a little bright to me, they almost stick out to much and since I play on a vanilla server I have chest everywhere. Also the stone brick looks so much worse then the cobble stone. Maybe its that the cobble stone is just so awesome. Last is the glass, I like it but I think the frame needs to be a little bigger. With the glass being totally clear I feel you could afford to widen the frame a little more. I will be honest, that was one of my few complaints with complaints with LB photo. The other complaints I had with LB photo I think you already fixed.
