Sounds like either a Java or texture pack problem.
If it's the former; uninstall and re-install Java, if it's the latter, revert to the default texture pack, and if you used some kind of patching files for HD texture packs, force an update to return all the files to normal.
If you don't know how to force an update, there should be an 'Options' button in your Minecraft launcher, click that and check 'Force Update' and log in, that should fix the problem.
Another question; the Minecraft world isn't round, so how does it have an adequate variable of gravity?
Also, if anything, the Minecraft world would be spinning around the sun.
I'm probably the only one (for some reason) that hated the obnoxious 'ooh' sound that would play whenever you'd get hurt, and really like the replacement for it.
But those creations wouldn't matter anymore, a defined goal would ruin the purpose of doing anything else, now everything you'd do would have to be focused towards that goal, otherwise it'd be pointless.
Minecraft is a sandbox game, that's what it has been defined as, it doesn't need goals, goals don't make sense.
You spawn in a world completely your own, you can shape and destroy it to your liking with no limits, you can do whatever you want, inserting a random necessary goal into this will only degrade from the overall experience, the focus will no longer be on doing whatever you want, and sharing those creations with others, the focus will now be on who beats the magical dragon first.
If this is the only way to access the credits, why shouldn't it be considered a final boss? Just because you can continue afterwards doesn't mean you haven't beat the game.
And I don't think Minecraft should have some 'final goal', I like the idea of making your own goals.
Eh, I think the whole concept kind of ruins the point of Minecraft.
Minecraft isn't supposed to end, there isn't supposed to be some 'end goal' you can reach, hence why it;s considered sandbox.
I don't like the whole final boss idea either, I thought, when boss mobs were added to Minecraft, they would basically be very rare, strong, hostile mobs capable of destroying terrain and all that, something to really look out for. But this, this is just stupid, I don't like the idea of intentionally building a portal in a pre-built dungeon, (which doesn't fit with the theme of Minecraft either) and fighting a boring boss in a lifeless, unrecognizable environment in order to access the credits, it just doesn't fit with Minecraft.
This whole 'you beat the boss, the end lol' concept is just stupid if you ask me.
Sponges would just not work with the current water physics.
Crying obsidian was just supposed to be for re-locating the spawn, which was later replaced with beds.
