Short answer no, long answer is that it is possible if you overclock hard and don't have great airflow. It's not very likely though.

    Update:

The BenQ only has a DVI and VGA input as well! I expected more from them... More sad faces... I guess my only options are the the Asus and the Samsung. Any more suggestions, guys? Thanks.

DVI puts out almost the same video signal as hdmi, it just doesn't carry an audio signal.

I've never seen anything go anywhere near that. If a game isn't being ported by a tool chances are you would be with with 8GB, and RAM is one of the easiest components to upgrade anyway.

I don't think it's very fair to say just because you haven't seen it means it doesn't happen, this is what I'm running at right now while playing archeage on high and working on some projects.

Also if you want to do the math for psu efficiency then go ahead.

People said that 2 years ago and guess what? 8GB is still fine, by the time the OP will need 16GB chances are it will be time to replace the machine and the memory will need replaced with DDR4 DIMMs anyway though even if they do have a need for it sooner its not exactly hard to add an extra 2x4GB kit at a later date.

Again in to highly subjective territory here unless you buy the Corsair bull about Reds and gaming, the Buckling springs on my IBM are no worse than my old MX Browns when im playing games the same applies to Blues, Reds, Blacks or indeed any other MX switch (with the exception of MX Lock) or indeed any other mechanical switch.

Its popular because its cheap and Cooler Master are using the same OEM as the likes of Filco, it is no easier to modify than any other keyboard and it has no more compatibility with MX keycaps than any other MX board, if it looks like this underneath: It will fit on any MX switch and as a result will fit on any keyboard using Cherry MX Switches, no exceptions.

Its also completely useless on Haswell, you wont get a worthwhile overclock out of it and at that stage there is no point replacing the stock cooler.

So switch to a significantly worse quality unit of only 50W less......... OP if you would be interested in adding a second 970 in the future keep the Seasonic from your original if not interested in multi GPU then go for this or this depending on your desire for modularity.

    - Have you played any modern games? Games are becoming more and more memory hungry with new engines. Playing Archeage I regularly hit 6-7gb. While 8gb will work for now, 16gb will be really helpful for new games that his GPU was built to run.

    - I game on blues and it's not completely terrible, but double tapping isn't very smooth. I definitely prefer browns over blues while gaming but the sound of blues just isn't there, so it can go either way.

    - It is a popular keyboard because of easy board and metal place replacement, easy to paint and do what you like without hurting the keyboard.

    - Are you really going to tell me the stock intel cooler is preferable to an aftermarket? I suppose if you want a vacuum cleaner sound coming from your pc than feel free.

    - The difference between gold and bronze isn't very significant and only saves on power efficiency. There isn't much info on whether or not the power saved would actually be cost beneficial.

I refuse to stock them personally seeing as though the last time I did I had alot of faulty ones. Honestly, they'reoverpriced and poor quality.

The 2013 model of the deathadder is the only razer product I can really recommend. The chroma has a worse build quality and the 2012/previous version has a worse sensor. The rest of razer's products are just "elite gamer" products that are junk.

@Doctapper - If you see anything you'd like to throw your bias at in this post, go ahead.

I see the corsair shills have taken over. Enjoy your Corsair™ products. ;)

    Things I changed -

Mouse - The deathadder 2013 is one of the best mice on the market don't listen to these drones.

Memory - I changed your memory from 8 to 16gb, the difference between 1600mhz and 1866mhz is not noticeable, you will be thanking me in 2 years or so when you have that extra memory.

Keyboard - The RGB keyboard is ridiculous and a complete waste of money. You can change this back if you want to look like a complete tool while playing games. Also avoid blue switches for gaming, get reds or browns. The keyboard I added is very popular in the mechanical keyboard community as it's easy to do mods to and basically every keycap set fits on it. Go here for more on that.

Hard drives - Added an SSD. SSDs are very cheap now I'm not sure why you avoided one to begin with, it still fits within the $1500 budget. Also changed from 1tb HDD to 2tb.

CPU cooler - Yes you will feel like an idiot if you don't buy one. The hyper 212 is the default cheap but efficient cpu cooler.

Changed PSU - You aren't using power hungry parts so a high end PSU isn't necessary.

More ram would just be a bandaid and it really won't help it that much. You will need to get a new system to get improved speeds.

My Acer c720 required me to download Ubuntu (something like that) and going into developer mode etc. Just to play. My old Mac was just download and play.

Ubuntu is an operating system? Not sure why your laptop would require you to change operating systems to play lol

-AH, your old laptop was a chromebook which runs on Chrome OS, won't play very many games. Make sure you pickup a laptop with Windows installed if you want to just play minecraft.

95% of laptops for sale (fake but probably accurate statistic) can run minecraft, you're probably fine.

Yes you can.... As long as you still have the serial key you can. If it was an OEM he couldn't

You can use the install disc as many times as you want, but the serial key only activates 1 windows system.

If it has already been activated then you can't use it again. Go with windows 8, much more optimized OS. Just download startisback and you'll be good to go.

I game in quite a dark room, so backlighting is necessary

Unless you actively stare at your keyboard while typing, I still can't really recommend back-lighting as a needed feature for dark rooms.
