Ok obviously many people have never played MC classic, let alone play it. There is no legit way to light TNT in classic because the whole point of minecraft at that time was to build. All blocks in classic are for decoration Purposes only (except for sponge.) there, Problem solved.
Do I really think Minecraft will eventually lose popularity? Yes. The reason? Here is a possible scenario I see happening:
Someone will want to capitalize on the popularity of this new genre, and will:
1. Write Minecraft-like clone.
2. Make it free, and open-source.
3. Find professionals willing to create excellent sounds and graphics for it.
4. Make it use less resources and run on a much wider range of systems.
5. Build it with a plugin API in mind, from the start.
6. Build in better authentication that does not rely on a centralized authentication service.
7. Choose a programming language to write it in that is popular and efficient.
8. Find lots of people willing to assist in developing all aspects of it.
9. And so on...
Essentially, they will see what limitations Minecraft has developed over time, and they will choose to not make the same mistakes. People will still feel nostalgic about Minecraft, but they will be playing something better.

That's just ruining cows for good. Obviously, cows are large creatures, and should drop more meat. Doesn't mean Pigs can't be useful either; again, you can ride them. We can just fix that up a bit so it's useful.
Saddled pigs should have 15 health, and move at least 1.5x that of Steve. Again, with the Apple Baiter, you could control it. And if you ride a pig off a mountain, only the pig takes damage. If it jumps into lava... Oh well.
And killing a saddled pig should at least have A CHANCE of regaining the saddle back.

Besides: Don't know if you've noticed, but the ratio of those who can actually write good stories to those that cannot is 1:1000, and that isn't actually far off. Anyone who's played Roblox and searched the free models for the word "story" will know what the bloody hell I'm talking about there.
Now, take a look at basic maps: The only real storyline someone can come up with for SSP is "Guy wakes up, no one around, go solve puzzles" or "Guy finds temple, solves puzzles" and the use for writing in books for those is near null. Don't even try to think about SMP; I can't even begin to imagine the amount of idiots who spam up and leave stupid, maybe inappropriate phrases in books. Don't say it wont happen, because it will.
If you really want it, go get the mod.
That doesn't mean that it won't be fun. Books have practically no use in minecraft anyways.

While we're on the subject of "which computer?" Ive been wanting a Mac for years but I'm afraid it will mess up my minecraft compatibility. Are macs a good option?

Surviving in a snow biome is probably one of my favorite parts of minecraft. I can pump out loads more ideas.
A giant snow golem
An ice rink
Snow spleef arena
Snowball fight arena
An underwater ice bunker

I actually like that idea. Although the only problem is apples are really hard to find. Why not replace the apple with a red or brown mushroom?
