I will update tomorrow now that ive seen that but a buddy of mine gave me an idea you might want to add in.
add a new command or update the /lock command to work with doors as well as chests. that way we could make big buildings and have certain rooms only accessible to certain people. For a real life example, think of a hotel
I also have a user who gets booted a lot just as your friend does. The research that I have done has not been to fruitful. There are certain network cards that seem to have trouble with minecraft. Try Googling that. Also, make sure that they are running the latest java. You might also look at what your friend has for RAM, and to adjust the amount that Java is using (see MANY posts about this on the internet).
Well i did do some googleing and found out what the broken pipe exception is and its an issue on my end (whether or not its the wrapper or just the vanilla server jar is up for grabs lol) but whats happening is the game client is writing when the server has already shut down that connection. No idea why its doing it, but its deff on my servers end because i got some more people on and have a little more info to throw at you because the more people get on, the more often it happens including to me on my laptop lol.
im running ubuntu x64 11 natty with 4Gb DDR3 1600 OC ram and a core2 quad extreme. java is current (just uninstalled and reinstalled all java components to be certain of that) 1Tb HDD
original broken pipe buddy running windows7 x32 3Gb ram not sure on his processor
other 2 people who were getting broken pipe error last night were using laptops, not sure on specs but they are top of the line gaming laptops like mine so comperable specs
i was getting broken pipe disconnected on my laptop which is built strictly for gaming. 4Gb DDR3 ram, 500Gb HDD, 3Ghx Tri-core AMD Phenom II (I think its called phenom II not sure im an intel man so im new to AMD terminology)
I was wondering if maybe its not a problem with the wrapper intercepting the packets incorrectly, thinking maybe one of the files got a little corrupted one day a few weeks ago when like an idiot i accidently stepped on the power button for my surge proctector and obvisouly shut down the computer down doing so. I KNOW i messed up my router a little cuz i had to fix it before i could get any net connection afterwards, but that cant be this problem because its working at 100% now (uninstalled and re-installed the firmware)
Also wondering if maybe there has been an updated server jar since i put this server together and the wrapper hasnt updated it?
ok been using this for awhile now with no snags up till today. buddy of mine keeps getting kicked every 15 min or so with this on the console when it happens
To make yourself admin go into the simpleserver folder and find the file permissions.xml open it up using a text editor and scroll down to where it says
<player group="1" name="exampleplayer"/>
put your cursor at the end of that line and hit enter to create a new line
on the new line type <player group="5" name="YOUR NAME"/>
save the file, start the server, get on. hit t and type something into chat to test it. next to your name it should say (Owner)
come to think of it, it would be nice to have a command for weather. i dont mean putting rain/snow where it shouldnt be just something like the time connand say...
/weather to toggle it on or off and
/weather freeze/unfreeze to freeze or unfreeze the current weather state
ive actually never used IRC so i dont know what to download to get on (yeah i know that makes me look like a newb but i was just never big on chatrooms), disabling onlinemode makes no diff i tried that earlier. here is what i get in terminal when its running
[edit] no idea how that pastie thing is supposed to work since i just saw script so ill just paste here instead of using that

ok first off i just want to say thanks for making this wrapper, after i found out about it i havent needed any other mods, however im having a problem right now that is just bizarre and by all means shouldnt be happening.
Ive been using your wrapper for awhile, with no problems at all, so i know how to manipulate it and have no questions on working it at all. I figured all that out on my own by actually reading the files and paying attention lol, then a storm caused me to lose power about 2 weeks ago while i was playing on the server. Linux REALLY didnt like that, i had to format and re-install everything.
I was using the most recent version of the wrapper when it happened, and have it already back on my desktop with all my settings put back to where they should be and except for world files all the rest of the files are identical to what i had before when my server was working correctly (pre-power loss), but nobody, including myself) can connect to it.
I always run it in terminal (I use terminal as my GUI, i just like having it there) and when its running terminal shows everything as working perfectly fine, nothing different from how it used to look before when i had people connecting and playing with no issues, but now anytime someone tries to connect the game client seems to freez in the logging in screen for about 3 min then we get cannot connect - connection timed out
the problem im having here is that i have no whats effed up. cant be my desktop cuz its had a fresh wipe and re-install, in which the first thing i did after linux finished installing was install and update everything java as well as install/update/activate all my drivers. cant be the wrapper cuz it is setup and functioning the exact same as it was before while it was working perfectly fine. cant be my internet connection cuz EVERYTHING else that has a net connection on this thing is working perfectly fine (posting from said desktop with server software actually) and google didnt help at all trying to figure this out so i thought it just might be time to post it up here and hope you or someone in the thread can help lol
if it helps, my system specs are as follows
OS - Ubuntu desktop X64 11.04 "natty narwhal"
CPU - Core2 Quad core 2.5Ghz
RAM - 4Gb DDR3 OC 1300
VID - Asus 1Gb (I forget the gt whatever it is and have no idea where the box is)
HDD - Seagate 1Tb
Ok first of i want to say the doom map pack is awesome, havent yet downloaded heretic but ill get around to that eventually lol.
only 1 problem, textures work fine, but i cant login only play offline.
I used the patcher thinking it was the problem, and it switched all the textures and **** back to normal.
any ideas?
*EDIT*
Ok i got it working now, turns out minecraft was down for a bit was why i couldnt log in. Now i just need to upload this map to my server so everyone can see what i see on the server, cuz it is SWEET
