Shadou81 posted a message on Divine Rpg... dear godI find it amusing that there is so much controversy over this mod. It's a hard mod, yes, and I absolutely love that part. Personally, I hate how the mod is balanced, but that's a personal preference kind of thing and not any fault of the mod creators. They're balancing their mod the way they like.Posted in: Mods Discussion
Surviving in DivineRPG for utter n00bs:
So you're brand new to DivineRPG, and you're getting the everloving daylights kicked out of you every time you try to do... well, anything? Here's an idiot's guide of what to do and, more importantly, what not to do.
DivineRPG added a lot of new mobs to a lot of biomes in the overworld. In particular, there are some fairly mean and aggressive mobs in desert, jungle, and snow biomes. For any new player starting out I would recommend avoiding starting off in those biomes, because that just adds an additional level of difficulty to an already difficult mod.
The vanilla armors are not going to cut it in the twilight dimensions. Don't even try to use them. If you think diamond armor is going to protect you when you head into a new dimension, you're in for quite a rude awakening. DivineRPG has added a whole slew of new armors to the game, and you'll want to use those armors to survive. In addition to armors, you're going to want a decent weapon. DivineRPG mobs have a LOT of health, and the vanilla weapons will not even come close to doing enough damage to bring them down in any reasonable amount of time.
Don't mine in wide open caves deep in the ground. Just... don't. For one thing, it's a particularly inefficient method of mining. You spend your time stripping down entire walls of cobblestone, when a more efficient method of mining can save you a lot of time and generate less trash in your inventory. You'll get more ore and less cobblestone by corridor mining than just stripping everything out of the ground. Don't know what I mean by corridor mining? Mine a 1 wide, 4-5 high corridor in a single direction, for 16 blocks. Go back to your start point and then do it again, mining parallel to your first corridor with a 2 block thick wall between. Then go back and do it again. And again. And once more. Congratulations, you just mined almost an entire chunk. You can now go through and cherry pick any of the ores you're interested in that you can see in the walls. That took a lot less time than mining out a 16x16x5 room, didn't it?
This method of mining has two advantages. The first one is the time you save, not having to mine out anything you don't want except in the corridors you're using. The second, more important advantage is that it doesn't prompt the spawning of rooms full of divineRPG nasties. If you're mining below level 35, you can expect that there are things that spawn there in full light levels. It starts with the cave crawlers around level 35, and progresses to things like caveclopses and the dreaded enthralled dramcryx by the time you reach bedrock. If you're mining a wide open cavern, you're basically creating a spawning room for these things... and they are very eager to spawn in such rooms. The corridor mining system gives them less area to spawn in and also allows you to take them on one on one, rather than dealing with an entire swarm of them.
I will repeat it here, in case you missed it in the last paragraph. The divineRPG nasties that spawn in levels 5-35 will spawn in full light levels. Keeping your mining area well lit is not a deterrent to the spawning of divineRPG mobs. Corridor mining will drastically reduce the number of divineRPG mobs you'll have to deal with when mining.
So, to recap
Avoid Desert, Jungle, and snowy biomes
Get a decent DivineRPG armor and weapon
DRPG mobs spawn in full light
Don't mine in open caves; do corridor mining
So there you have it, a guide from an idiot on how to survive in DRPG. There's probably a lot that I could add here, from recommended armors and weapons, to how-tos on surviving in places like The End or The Nether, which have also had the DRPG developers add their personal touches to them. I'm not going to, though. As of DRPG 1.2.5, there's enough information in the tooltips in NEI for a player to make their own judgements on which armors and weapons to go for. Type 'armor' in NEI's search bar. Or 'sword'. You'll get a list of items, and clicking on them will provide their recipes. The only thing I'm willing to say here, is Elite Realmite is the bare minimum of armor that I would use to survive in the deepest layers of the overworld, or The End, and only if it has good enchantments on it.
I run a server that features DivineRPG as one of its core mods, and the group of players that frequent the server have been diligently working on opening portals. Since the armor fix in 1.2.5, I've seen another two portals go up. I don't know what the players are using for armor, but whatever it is is working for them. For my part, having spent the time raiding The End for ender shards and building a suit of ender armor has been well worth the time spent. Recently, some of the players, including myself, have spent some time running around in the Arcana dungeon. From the last console logs I've looked at, it seems some of the players made some pretty good progress in it, too. -

TylorGoldenYoshi posted a message on Why refer to gold as 'butter'? Gold ingots do not look, nor act like butter!Posted in: Discussion
Oh, of course! Some kid with a microphone and screen-capture software system must be the source of all knowledge.
Okay, that was uncalled for. What point are you trying to make here? That we think SkyDoesMinecraft is a genious or something? I think Sky isn't too bright, but I find him amusing. But hey, nobody ever said nor implied what you're saying. I think you seriously need to pull that stick out your butt.
Since when do you put butter on apples, watermelons and carrots?
Since when do you put gold on apples, watermelons and carrots? See how silly your argument is? I've seen your arguments, a lot of them typically comparing a game that takes place in a fictional setting to real life, which is very terrible logic.
I'm fascinated with your ability to perceive the smoothness of items in a 16x java game. Actually, I think what you mean in 'malleable', not soft, but that still wouldn't prove your point. Butter is also not yellow, it's white. Calling gold butter on the basis of it yellow color is like calling a lightbulb a member of your family because it can be found in your house.
May I ask if you ever watched cartoons or movies? They typically portray butter as yellow. And plus, butter at my home turns yellowish when it starts getting warm. Although it is yellow when cold, just very pale. A better term, though, would be weak, rather than soft. And can you use better comparisons than that? Because I've never seen a lightbulb that looks like a human. -

Quanni123X posted a message on Chances are, you don't have OCD.I would just like to point out that just because your blocks must be placed correctly does not mean you have OCD. Minecrafters who say this likely have no idea what OCD means. This could also seriously offend people who do actually have it, a problem that makes their everyday life harder.Posted in: Discussion
Just because the OCD texture pack has perfect squares everywhere does not mean you have OCD if you use it.

Coalshower posted a message on Enchanted SquidPosted in: SuggestionsQuote from SnowConez
I like the idea, but unless there is a new structure found underwater to explain why the squid has magic book, It wouldn't make sense. Maybe there could be sunken witch hut ruins or something. Why was a witch's house underwater, you ask? Well the truth is I would have no idea, so let's just say it was a teleportation spell gone wrong or something.
Minecraft stuff dont need a backstory. YOU MAKE your own story That is one of the joys of Minecraft.
And plus, maybe the villagers dropped an an Enchanted Book by the river which flowed to the oceans! (See? Make your own story) -

Lord_N posted a message on Nationalist or Imperialist?Posted in: Politics, Philosophy, News and ScienceQuote from DoctapperImperialist: How do I put this... I'll do an example! The Triple Alliance in WW1 were imperialists, so that gives you an idea, yet the Triple Entente were Nationalists (look that up). So in a sort of nutshell you don't think your country is too great and would rather have more countries.
Triple Entente were also imperialists. An imperialist is generally someone who wants to take over someone else for their resources or other benefits (generally in the WWI-era, empires would be looking for places for their fleets to refuel).
As a matter of fact, the German Empire was hardly imperialistic when compared to the United Kingdom or France. Apart from small Pacific holdings and highly undeveloped African holdings, the German Empire didn't have much in terms of imperialism. -

LogicBox posted a message on Book Stuff!Let me say that I think books in Minecraft are great. I can record information and relay it to others, or just write a story for some friends to read while they're waiting for some stone to cook.Posted in: Suggestions
However, I think there's a lot more that you should be able to do with books!
EDITING
It's a real pain in the behind that, in order to edit anything you've written, you have to delete anything in front of the text. Why can't we click where we want to edit? Or, at the very least, use the arrow keys? This would be a gigantic help.
BOOKSHELVES
There's already a great thread about bookshelves (not mine), so I'll just link it. This is a huge thing, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to have bookshelves in the game already, but you still have to put books in a chest...
http://www.minecraft...in-bookshelves/
DYES
Books are made from leather and paper. And we can dye leather armor. Why not books? That way, if you have a ton of books, you can distinguish them at a glance. Or at least organize them, in some way. Just adds a little flair.
NOTES
Sometimes you just want to scribble a little message on a piece of paper. Or maybe, just for fun, you'll write out a little letter to send to someone. Or perhaps you don't want to grab all the leather, but need to jot something down really fast.
What if you could make Notes? It'd be like a Book and Quill, but instead of a book in the recipe, it would be a piece of paper. Each note would only be one page, however if you have two or more notes and put them together in a crafting bench, you would have a Bundle of Notes.
Crafting a Book and Quill and a Note would put in a page in your book (the note) that would obviously look like it's a separate piece of paper just stuck in.
COPYING BOOKS
This is a huge huge HUGE thing. Copying books. It's been addressed before. Why not take a finished book, craft it with another feather, ink sac, and regular book, and make a second copy of the text? This would help a LOT. I could collect copies of books from other people and make libraries, or just keep a second journal safe at home in case I die. This would work with finished and unfinished books.
TABLES
It would be cool if you could place a note/book on a block, just like you can with string and Redstone. As usual, left click would destroy the text and right click would open it up for reading.
All this stuff would drastically improve Books in Minecraft!
I know there's a lot of stuff here, and some ideas are better than others, so tell me what you think, or if I need to explain something better! -

Invisibility Cloak (Super Rare) (Maybe?)
Gives the potion effect of Invisibility, all the time the cloak is eqquiped.
----
Post suggestions or art in the comments, and if I like them, I'll add them.
A tiny bit op but how about this?
when standing still you get 10 seconds of invisibility (doesn't go down)
then when you move it goes down
to get more you stop and wait about 0.5-1 seconds for the cloak to "charge" again and you get your bost again
also for a suggestion perhaps cosmetic items like zombie shirt and pants, a skeleton costume and a spider costume (note: for a skeleton costume I have to raid a skeleton dungeon.)
EDIT: the mincon capes don't turn invisible would this cape turn invisible? - To post a comment, please login.

1. What is Skyblock?
If you haven't heard of skyblock, fear not. Skyblock is a special type of challenge map where you spawn on a small, floating island in the middle of the void. Resources are limited, and luxuries you have previously had on a regular survival map might seem dangerously void. I bet you never had said, " I wish I had more dirt," before! Of course you can download the map or play on one of several servers, but here is a creative and fun way of making your own!
2. Superflat.
You will need to make the world in creative mode, and have cheats enabled. You will need to select a superflat world, and click on presets. At the top of the screen you will see a bar that has random numbers and letters. We don't want those, so delete them. Put in this code : " 1;12;1 " . This preset code simply makes it so only 1 layer of sand is generated on the map. What does this mean? Void, baby, void. Place a block upon the sand and it will proceed to fall. All of it. Now all that remains is you, the void, and the block you placed. Stack the block up and choose what y coordinate you want your island to be on. You do NOT want it to be too low, nor too high; shoot for the middle. I always go for y:100.
3. Spawn.
Perhaps you're thinking, "But if I die, I'll spawn in the void?" Not exactly. Remember how cheats were enabled? We'll be using a command that sets an exact spawn for you to land on whenever you die. The command is : /spawnpoint [YOUR IN GAME NAME] : And it SHOULD set your spawn to were you are standing. If you are having troubles, put in the coordinates after your name. Many people place a block of bedrock so their spawn is always reliabley there.
4. Creating the island.
Now you create your island. You can make your island to your liking, but it is generally made with less than a stack of grass, has one oak tree, and a chest with materials that will help along the way. Size the island to your likings. I wouldn't make it too big, as it would ruin a bit of the challenge, but feel free to limit it to produce more of a challenge. Again, 'tis your choice. The chest materials should DEFINITLEY include : 2 block of ice, and a bucket of lava. It would also be ideal to include : 1 catcus block, 1 sugarcane, 1 of each mushroom, 1 bone, 1 melon seed, 1 pumpkin seed. That way you can easily obtain these otherwise unobtainable blocks and reproduce them. Some people also make additional [smaller] islands far away from the initial island that has other things, such as obsidian for venturing to the nether.
5. Begginer tips.
If you know nothing about skyblock, or are new to skyblock in general, here are a few tips to get you started (survival wise). First off, punch that tree and harvest as many saplings as you can get from it. Take the ice and lava and make a cobble generator. (If you don't know what that is, look it up on youtube. Perhaps in the future I shall post pics.) From there, farm a buch of cobblestone and expand your island.
6. Conclusion
Well... That concludes this tutorial. For now. I can easily add more things that I may have forgotten or that someone feels is worth mentioning. I also might add pictures if I figure out how to. Please, post feedback such as questions, comments, suggestions, complaints... I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, and I hope you enjoy the skyblock experience.
Farewell!
