Hello everyone! Several months ago the Yogscast crew had a Diggy Hole contest for access to the whitelist server. I was one of the lucky winnders, but I was wondering what to do with the big hole I then had in the ground. I decided to add a roller coaster to it!

My rail line is about 1200 meters long, but apparently the 1km achievement measures simple straight line distance from start to finish, not distance along the rail.
Well the achievement does say to end 1km away from where you started, so no, circles don't count. (otherwise people could make a 3x3 circle of rail and ride it for the achievement)
One tip, if you hit a diamond ore block, leave it in place and mine out around it until you have at least one space all around the entire deposit. Diamond can be up against each other or touching at corners but make an air space all around it, to be sure not to miss any diamonds that might be there. I don't touch the ore until I know I've isolated the whole pocket. It's rare, you don't want to miss any.
You also don't want them to get destroyed by lava.
why see stats as a goal, it doesnt really make sense. when you run a race do you lookat your time and go "oh no my time is a stat and stats can be beaten. why even bother runnng", didnt think so.
the only time they should ever be near the word 'goal' is if they were being used to check how close you are to the goal, i.e. you decided one day you were going to walk 42 km in minecraft so you use stats to check how far youve walked.
Point noted. I need to reword it, because you are correct. It is not so much a goal as it is a statistic. I prefer my statistics to be the best, because that means I am the best i can possibly be, which would be better than everyone else. Does that make more sense? They are a goal as in having the best stats is my goal.
Stats are highly time dependant. Digging blocks, placing blocks, crafting items, all takes time. If you interperit "the best" as being "the highest number" then the person who is "the best" will be someone who is among the top in terms of time spent playing Minecraft. It's that simple. If you want to be "better," play more.
Or, you could pick an interpolated stat, such as Best Diamond Miner. This would be something like Diamonds Mined divided by the sum of all blocks mined. Does it take math? Yes. Does it actually give you a stat you can be the best at? Yes. (though it would be luck dependant).
As they are, stats are just basic stats, there is no best or worst. It's how you interperit the stats that makes a best or worst, and from there determine who is actually the best. Saying someone is better than you because they dug more blocks is like saying someone is a better driver just because they've gone more miles. (and if you've seen an old person drive you know that probably isn't true)
