yes, thats normal, they do that all the time when theyr're close enough, but sometimes you might be lucky and they'll only attack you instead of blowing up in your face.

you wont believe how many times people have sugested wisps in a jar, azanor is probably tired of this idea, and if he wants to add it i think he would have added it by now, unless he focused on some other stuff before making cosmetic stuff.

btw, we have markers, use them

and there i thought i had an original thought for once. but on the other hand, i cant cread through 400 pages of this thread to see, if someone already brought it up. ;)

well, if so many people suggested it, i would be surprised if he doesnt add it tbh.

so, as far as ive seen there seems to be an error. i crafted the red warded stone blocks, before i noticed we cant craft them into slabs and stairs (yet).

since they are relatively cheap and seem to consist of only 1 praecantation each, i thought i would just break them down, keep the praecantation and make some other color, like grey (red doesnt really go well with the stone stairs :) ). but when i throw them into the crucible, it only shows 0 praecantation.

the aspect is displayed in the crucible (wearing the goggles), but the value is 0. when i empty the crucible, there is also nothing added into the alembics either.

well, i guess i still can use the blocks for a safe in my basement, where i store my valuables.

no it isn't in the slightest, really azanor's liquid vis mechanics from TC2 put most other piping/liquid mechanics to shame by a wide margin, it's the attention to detail he puts into his work if you ask me.

i definitely would like to get bigger tanks for the alembic further down the tech tree. one of th best features of this mod is, that it makes virtually anything useful. since you can break down any items you dont need into their aspects and use them in your recipes.

this is especially great with otherwise useless monster loot. like gold armor/weapons, leather armor etc. it makes them actually pretty valuable since they can replace iron and gold in your recipes. all the armor of course allso has the tutamen aspect, which is otherwise only avaiable through large quantities of leather for research. and growing cows and harvesting them for leather is a long winded process, which really slows down the research.

problem is, a lot of these items also have more than 4 aspects with huge values. i barely dare to break them down into anything useful, because there is so much overflow into the environment as flux. so bigger and/or more tanks would definitely be nice.

plus, i would like to have the option to only connect one alembic to my crucible, since it looks really clutched up with 4 of them connected and a golem on top of it. this is just a visual thing, but half of the game for me is to make my workshop (and my house) look cool.

edit.: OK! i just researched the warded stone blocks and doors. let me say, that you allowed us to color the blocks is simply awesome! i now have to rebuild my house though :D

another cool addition would be, if we could craft these warded stone blocks into brick blocks, stairs, slabs and walls like other stone blocks.

what about a backpack? minning with 6 different shards, 2 clusters, gold, iron, diamond, redstone and lapis is a pain, not space to even loot dungeons!

thats what magic mirrors and ender chests are for. a backpack sounds kind of cool, but an ender chest is a full chest of extra inventory space, and you can throw items through a magic mirror into a hungry chest, to save even more space.

if you have a golem on the other end, who cleans it out, you should have virtually infinite space. although, i dont know if golems work with the hungry chest like they do with regular chests.

you can even go the other way round and have an ender chest at home with a clay golem next to it. i didnt try that either, but theoretically you can command him to always have a stack of some resource ready, that you couldnt get while exploring caves (potions for example, since they all take up an inventory slot each).
best of all, ender chest work across realms. you can store or take items from a chest at home, while youre exploring the nether.

I miss the pipes and vis storage tanks. Is that crazy? It's just something I really liked from Thaumcraft 2 thematically. Also the more advanced versions of magical boots.
As for a neat little idea, how about Travelling Journals. You receive two of them upon creation. Works just like a written book, but allows for private communication between two players by updating changes in one journal to its twin. Perhaps not that impressive but very wizardly.

i like this idea in principle, but there is a global chat, which does exactly the same. it would have to have something, that you cant communicate by text alone.

How about a Wand Recharging Station? Insert a Wand(s)? Maybe it takes up to 3 wands? And it drains the Vis in the Aura to charge it and you could put in Vis Crystals to help charge 'em? Perhaps even have a setting to how fast they charge?

you can already recharge wands actually! ive enchanted my lighning wand and lucked out. got recharging enchantment and it never breaks, as long as you let it fuel up between uses.

    i just had another idea.

whisp in a jar! how about combining a warded jar with a whispy essence (or certain number of the same type), to get the appropriately colored whisp in a jar for decorative purposes?

maybe you can even come up with some use for it in your system. but i think that would look pretty awesome in my room.

i still think, the way the arcane alembic is connected to the crucible should be changed somehow. when you have 4 of them connected to your crucible, it looks really clutched up, especially if you also want to put a golem next to it. its just some nitpicking, since its not that big of a deal, but you can barely see the bubbly effect of the cooking water anymore and instead of stepping in front of your magic pot, you have to squeeze in between the alembics to get a peek inside.

maybe there should be only one alembic connectable to the crucible, but it should be possible to add more containers, so you can all put them to one side. it sould still be possible to limit the amount of containers by using the "combined-chest-mechanic". (even though i wouldnt mind being able to store more aspects, than currently possible. some armor items have pretty high values on 4 or even more aspects. and being able to break down otherwise useless monster loot - gold armor/weapons etc. into something useful is a big appealing factor of this mod for me.)

edit.: something that might be useful was, if you could set your golems to specific paths, by giving them waypoints. at the moment, theyre running the shortest distance available, which is nice. but i like to imagine them running along routes you set for them, for example along the roads youre building. they dont seem to trample farmland, so there is probably not an issue.

i was meaning to ask. thaumcraft 2 had these neat glyphs, you could put onto blocks with varying effects. i remember, some of them could be linked and where able to teleport you. (i think these are magic mirrors now, only that they work with items and dont move players). other ones pushed or pulled things, including mobs and items etc.

i think they where pretty awesome and wanted to ask, if they will make a comback in some form.

also a good friend of mine had an idea. it would be great to be able to craft a consumable "recall scroll", that teleports you back to your home. so if youre going straight into the world, exploring you can have a one way ticket back instead of having to walk all the way.

that could be something added further down the research tree.

edit.: sorry for the double post. these forums seem to work unusually slow. it looked like my last post was lost, when i made this one.

edit2.: oh and i really would like if there was a golem, who could feed the animals for you! thats a mechanic, thats currently not in the game and would make keeping animals, to harvest them for meat or leather a lot more comfortable.

something that came to mind, while playing around with the mod.

the different wands (fire, equal trade, excavation etc.) build out of the basic wand of the apprentice and break over the time. would be nice, if it was possible to craft bigger wands out of the wand of the adept instead, with more durability. they would still break, but usable for a longer duration. (unless you luck out and get the recharging enchantment, in which case it wouldnt matter).

The jars aren't meant to be used as storage for aspect. Chests full of phials are much cheaper, and you can store more in less space. Jars are meant to be used with the altar, and will play even a more important role in the future. Also storing aspect should be difficult, that's why every alembic can store only 16 of each. Also the removal of pipes and tanks are the main reason for the creation of TC3 itself.

was there a specific reason, why the pipes and tanks where problematic? personally, i thought the system was pretty neat.

if the jars arent meant to store the aspects, then whats the point of them other than decorative blocks?

even if you want to use them to power the infusion altar, it seems to be the same problem. there are a bunch of different recipes for the altar, powered by different aspects. and probably more to come. if you want to use the jars to conveniently power the altar, youre going to need an excessive amount of them to store all the single aspects for your different recipes.

hello and let me say, good job to an amazing mod. im having a lot of fun with it and its adding a lot of depth to the game.

that being said, there is one thing, thats bothering me with. mainly the idea of jars as a main means of storage for excess aspects.

as we can read already in the thaumonomicon, there are more than 50 aspects in your mod, while youre planning on adding more over the time.

this also means, that you will somehow have to place about 50 jars around your crucible, in range of your golems to store most of the excess aspects. which takes an excessive amount of space. not to mention, that its only possible to place 4 arcane alembics around your crucibe and intermediately store 4 different aspects at a time. additionally, having 4 alembics around your crucible takes up additional space and looks kind of clutched up, especially if you want to place a golem next to the crucible.

i think jars are a cool idea for an intermediate step to store some of the excess aspects, but in the long run i think pipes and larger containers should make a comeback.

it would be more practical, to be able to somehow connect a single, larger container to your crucible, that can store kind of a "soup" of all the excess aspects instead of having to store them all individually. this container could be connected via a pipe to something like an advanced alembic, that serves as a pump, to automatically pump all the excess aspects from the crucible into the container. this could be something to be added further down the research tree.

to this container, there could be another device attached, where you or your golems can filter out 8 of a single aspect out of the soup in the container and fetch it with a phial, to store it in a chest for later use.

such a container would save a huge amount of building space. imagine, youre going to add 60, 70 or even more aspects to your mod, and how many jars and space its going to take, to store all that stuff.
