posted a message on What Edition do you play?

So, you clicked on this seeing quote a few questions being posed and no doubt have been wondering about why there are so many questions, well fear not, I have a explanation.

So I am considering opening up a Whitelisted Minecraft Survival Server and I wanted to know whether Java or Bedrock is the primary choice for most players, because I want to appeal to as many players as possible, I don't wanna say, start a Bedrock server and end up with maybe 2 players on actively yet the Java might get 20 active players and end up excluding the players who either don't play Java Minecraft or don't have Java Minecraft or have Java Minecraft but no suitable PC to play it on, etc, etc.

I want to really make this server popular(Among the other Whitelisted Survival Servers out there) and nothing kills popularity faster than inactivity or even a lack of players on the version period.

If you wanted an explanation before answering them, there's your explanation, I thank you for taking the time to read this post and answer the questions, I'll edit this post with the forum post to the application once I have officially started the server.

Additionally, you can explain your reasoning for each answer in a reply, if you so desire to do so.

posted a message on I wanna get small Sub Count Minecraft YouTubers on a Vanilla Whitelisted SMP where they can Collaborate and Grow.

Hello, your probably wondering why you clicked this post, maybe it was curiousity, or maybe you regularly surf this forum and saw this post, whatever the case, let me not beat about the bush.

I am considering making a Whitelisted Vanilla Survival Server that is like Mindcrack was back in the day, before all the bs that caused it's decrease in popularity.

I want to get a bunch of small(10,000 Subscribers or less) Minecraft YouTuber's who upload regularly and want to do a SMP series with other small YouTuber's, hopefully this will in turn promote collaboration and growth.

Now I know YouTube is flooded to the brim with Minecraft content and it CAN be hard or even near impossible to get ones Minecraft content noticed by others, but my thinking is moreso, just let the views come in naturally, this kind of growth will be slower, but in the end I feel it will be more fufilling as you'll have more viewers who are interested in you and your content and each view will feel more organic than artificial, whereas really pushing the content will promote fast growth but be less fufilling.

Ultimately, I just wanna help smaller Minecraft YouTuber's to give them a server where they can collaborate grow and improve over time.

If your interested, send me a link to your Youtube channel and maybe tell me a little something about you and the Minecraft content you like to make.

How did you hear about The Sanctuary SMP community? If it's from a friend, who do you already know?: I was just looking up a Minecraft Whitelisted Vanilla SMP on the Minecraft Forums and this post stood out, that's it really.

What is your favorite/preferred base/building style? I'm a plain kind of guy so my builds are plain and not very inspiring.

What aspect of vanilla gameplay draws you towards SMP? The aspect of being able to help others, if your able to do so.

Do you have any experience with Minecraft communities? Plenty, I even have hosted a few servers, though none really took off because I hate marketing and advertising so that explains why I never had any popular servers that I owned.

Outside of Minecraft, what kinds of activities/hobbies do you enjoy? Old-School gaming, particularly xp gaming and prior, i also enjoy singing and the occasional movie and/or tv show.

posted a message on I swear, Port Forwarding needs to be as easy as cutting a cake.

Let me run you through the steps I did for hosting a server, leading to the current issue.

    1. Downloaded the server.jar from the Minecraft website.

    2. Put that server.jar in a folder.

    3. Clicked on the server.jar and let it generate the initial files.

    4. Accepted the EULA.

    5. Clicked on the server.jar to complete the generation of files.

    6. Shut down the server with the stop command.

    7. Created a start.bat using the information provided where one downloads the server.jar.

    8. Tested to make sure everything worked by connecting via localhost, everything worked perfectly.

    9. I typed CMD in the search bar on Windows 10.

    10. I typed config in the command prompt.

    11. Write down my device ip and Default Gateway ip.

    12. Got my bro to joining by directly connecting via device ip, worked just fine, no issues.

Now was time for port forwarding.

    1. I typed my Default Gateway ip in the adress bar of my browser, and logged in.

    2. Went to the Port Forwarding tab.

    3. Clicked Add New.

    4. Titled the port forward to Minecraft Server Server PC(I like to keep my port forwarding organised so I know what is what).

    5. Typed my device ip into the ip box.

    6. Set the ports to 25565(all of them).

    7. Set Protocol to TCP/UDP

    8. Clicked Add.

    9. Restarted my Router(just in case a restart was needed)

    10. Went to 3 different port checking websites, adding 25565 in the port box.

    11. The sites said the port was closed.

    What did i do?

I turned my firewall off, no better result.

Reset my modem and went through the port forwarding steps again, no better result.

Restarted my PC, No Better Result.

Allowed java and the port 25565 through my OFF firewall on my PC, No Better Result.

Asked a friend to check if they could connect at all, No better Result.

fiddled with my internet settings hoping that would fix the issue, nope, instead I massively goofed up and caused me and my bro to have no internet access, fortunately, he was able to fix what I did.

Consulted YouTube videos, Guides, etc, they were of NO HELP.

and thus I have come to my final attempt, ask someone who might know what to do to fix this.

you know what I have done, so now I am asking for a soloution.

posted a message on Me wonder.

Ok, I know this kind of thread is going to bring in all the Memelords, jokesters and guys who refuse to take this thread seriously.

So on a more serious note

What kind of system specs would one be looking at if they were doing all this(not at the same time):

    1. Blowing up several chunks worth of TNT.

    2. Playing with 500+ Mods that are notoriously and poorly optimised.

    3. Playing with shaders that make Minecraft look amazing, and tends to push the hardware to such a point that even a supercomputer would have a hard time pushing 720p60fps(though, I am unaware of any shaders that are THAT demanding).

    4. Hosting 200+ servers on the one system.

    5. Playing Minecraft with EVERY setting capped.

    6. Recording a lets play of a heavily modded Minecraft with 500+ mods AND system eating shaders.

So apart of me is curious exactly what kind of system one would need to be able to do all that and then some without running into any problems.

How active can you be: That can vary anywhere from a few minutes on a day when I'm not feeling like playing games, to several hours.

Why you would like to join: I like the vanilla game, and I don't play on many vanilla servers very often mostly because they don't last very long.

posted a message on Looking for Some Australian YouTubers.

I am looking for some small active Australian YouTubers who still do high quality Minecraft videos(and Livestreams).

What I am looking to do in the long term is a series alot like what Mindcrack USED to be(before it became corporate), and is only for Australian’s, this will hopefully bring some limelight to those small Australian Minecraft YouTubers who seem to have some difficulty getting noticed among the rather giant sea of small YouTubers from other countries.

For some clarity, I have 30 subscribers on YouTube and 27 on Twitch) so I’m thinking of people with 50 subscribers and/or followers at max(I generally go by the thought that I’m not likely to get in contact with any big Australian Minecraft YouTubers, so I’ll keep my sights set low)

What do you look for in an MC Server?: Just good folks to talk to once in a while

Additional Information: I have a tendency to go quite far in the world, mostly because when I find a place to settle down, I like to ensure I have a large area to myself.

On a side note, I lack Originality, Creativity and and any sense of restraint for Strip Mining.

posted a message on Would like to find someone capable of doing this.

Let me not beat about the bush and just get to my point.

I'm looking for someone who is good at compact redstone contraptions to do a Secret 2 wide x 3 tall dooor that oppens on both sides with a secret redstone key thing.

Basically What I want to do is I place a Redstone torch or even normal torch on a block relatively nearby, the block that the torch/redstone torch is on extends/retacts briefly, and opens the door long enough for me to get in, and the same in reverse only to get out, I will say I intend to keep to vanilla, and I want to keep my design intact, I am able to host a server, and will provide the ip to whomever can and is up to the task.

It would be nice to have a little bit of refrence material so I can see what you have done.

And plese no wannabe's(*Coughs* 12 year olds who THINK or BELIVE they can when in truth, they can't)

posted a message on I dream big, but at the end of the day, I never act on those Dreams

So keeping with Minecraft, I want to do so much, modding aside.

I want to do something that is like Mianite Season 1 and Mindcrack Pre Beta 1.8(As In the time when PaulSoaresJR was apart of Mindcrack), but has elements from both

    1. A In Depth Lore and History.

    2. Special Events.

    3. An Annual UHC

    4. Nether Hub

    5. Spawn Town

    6. 3 Gods(Good, Neutral and Evil)

    7. A Purge once a month

    and more

So far as UHC is concerned, It would more or less be the same as Mindcrack’s Ultra Hard Core Season 9 where it’s the first team to beat the ender dragon.

At one point I was considering doing it as a bukkit server(mostly so I can use the plugin that removes that really awful cooldown delay that I hate to death), but then it would not be vanilla at that point, and it would become Semi-Vanilla.

On top of that, because I absoloutely despise self advertising(It feels so arrogant and self-centered to do), if I were to pursue this dream, there would not be enough traffic to justify the cost of keeping a server up(Without advertising the server, no one will join).

So at the end of the day this dream will most likeley remain a dream.

There really is no point to this thread.

Yesterday, me, my brother and mother all were playing MC, we played for 2 hours before the server for some reason crashed, i restarted the server, asked mum and bro to join as soon as they did, thew server shut down, i checked the crash log, this is the report:
