At this point I have nothing specific, not enough to make a forum, nor pay for a server. Also mod's aren't working so we can still do a lot, but more of a chance for griefing to occur. Tougher in general as /warp helps, and so does /home. We will see.

Server is up, but for some reason mods are still not being applied correctly, leaving out commands from working. Only default SMP commands work.

Seems you are right Cerebrus, it seems to be up and running now (the main website). I had checked an hour ago and it was still down. I'll attempt to get the server up now, see how that goes.

Yeah, when I heard of this "free-weekend" I didn't expect it to be free because anyone can use whichever name they like to log-in. I've even seen a couple of people log-in as Notch, and pretend to be him (on other servers). It's a definite problem, and not worth the risk in the end. Besides this will give some members time to come back to the server, as I noticed a couple of people hadn't logged in since the server started, which was last monday.

Yes, that mountain-top castle took extremely long, and is very prone to griefing. Last thing I'd want to happen is for half of it to be gone because someone decided to take out their anger because they weren't accepted, or just because they are malicious to destroy something which took us so long to create. Taking 5 or so of us to complete in 2-3 hours.

That's exactly what I would want to happen Red. I do want to steer away from free hosts since they end up bombarding the forum with ads which increase their revenue instead of the server's, but I also want to have a team to help me out. I am one person after all, I could do only so much in one day. Running the server, keeping it running, adding mods, hoping to be able to pay and keep up payments for a dedicated server, and forum are all things I would like to incorporate in the near future, but with that I need help. Being a full-time college student takes away a lot of job opportunities for me to generate an income, so I tend to save when possible, problem is I can't save anything with which I do not already have.

I've been looking at pricing for dedicated servers and all I can say is that they are not cheap. Let's hope we can make this community flourish to the point where monetary concerns aren't such a great matter to manage.

I don't really mind if the forum is free or not, but some people are dead-set on not having a free forum, and it just occurs that most people prefer the paid forums.

I am going to keep it down until Notch fixes everything, as you may know by now anyone can log in under anyone else's name, If someone were to log in as me, you (Rouxy), or any Admin/Mod they would have the powers of whoever they are logged in as, and possibly destroy what we have created, in this case a risk I am not willing to take. I've already seen complaints on other topics in the SMP Servers forum about people having griefed, shut down, even deleted entire towns.

Cycrow spoke to me about this stating he would be making a forum for us. I believe it actually is essential for a server to thrive. Not only to be able to communicate with one another, but to allow the community to expand. As you can see this topic is cluttered, and very unorganized as you said. By making our own forum, eventually even our own website we can expand all of this. Thus why I set up a donation box for paypal, I believe this is the only way we can expand our community, and so far I believe we have a great one. We just need more members, and more help.

Surely enough I when Notch fixes the website, and the forum stops going down due to an over exposure of members, we will get back into the swing of things. Though for today we just have to sit tight and wait, this is why our own forum would bring such a benefit, when these forums are down we would have an alternative.

I hope Cycrow responds to me about the forums, if not maybe I'll set one up depending on what type of forums you guys/girls prefer. It's all up to you, even though I am the founder, I like to know what you want from the community/server, leaving you in the dark helps no one, so please give me suggestions whenever possible.

Yes, that is how I did it. Though now with the newest update I can't do anything.

All mods still don't work. I re-downloaded the minecraft_server.jar, I did everything, and when I run the .command file I get the default commands, not the commands for the mod.

posted a message on Server lag reduction help, please?
I believe this is the wrong section, but not too sure.

Anyways it may be that you didn't allow enough RAM for the server to run. By doing this it can handle other people logging in, but once you log in it has to partition the RAM used between you playing on your own server, and the server being able to run smoothly.

I had a similar problem, not too intense of a lag issue, but still some lag. I ended up increasing the RAM for the server, and it completely fixed the problem, I'd say try the same.

No, I used to not get any spam, then when I'd use /help only the SMP commands showed up not the Hey0's Mod ones. Any idea?

Obviously donators would be awarded, either with in-game commands (as well as forum privileges), and even items, or a rank system.

It wouldn't be too much, maybe $5.00 or less. Enough to host something, if not I'll figure out the entire cost, and how much it would be monthly.

Thing is most of those mod's have no guide for Mac server installation, and I have no idea how to do it otherwise.

Also, anyone think adding donations would be beneficial in any way? I mean to run this server on a dedicated server, with it's own domain, and forum would obviously reduce lag, and increase the player cap. What do you guys think?

Through PM, I will give you the IP. For now just wait, a lot of troubles occurring with mod's and SMP servers. So we just have to wait it out for a day or two.

Sorry, but the server will be down all of today. Mod's aren't being applied correctly, the server doesn't allow the commands to work, and right now anyone can login under my name and destroy the entire server. Maybe the server will be up tomorrow, until then I'll keep trying to fix it.
