posted a message on Why pvp ruins minecraft

I just came to comment on this line.

I prefer single player. I play Minecraft unmodded. To me, 1.9 is not a PvP update. How could it be, when there's no one for me to kill or to kill me? If you think it's PvP centered that is because you choose to see it that way.

    Quote from teesee»

It is mostly centered around pvp. That doesn't mean that it doesn't have other focuses.

    Sorry if this comment I am about to make may or may not be out of context but;

1.9 is officially called the combat update
Mojang stated shortly before starting 1.9 developement they wanted to fix the blandness of PVP, pointing out its spam click nature. Some of the additions are actual only applicable to PVP, such as the mundane and very hard to obtain tipped arrows.

The intention of the update was literally to fix PVP, so whoever asserts this fundamental fact which was canonly confirmed is in no position to call people blind. Yes, it effects PVE, PVM, PVW (wumbo), etc. but it was intentionally tailored to work in any field of combat.

Lastly, PVP is not overrated or the death of minecraft. Kit PVP can especially be very creative, using scoreboards and plugins to evolve the game in interesting ways.

As badrenup pointed out, the lack of AI in PVP means you will be facing different people with different strategies, so it keeps things interesting. Can't remember who posted pvp is not in the description of the game. But there's a reason for that; minecraft is not about PVP. It's about......(drum role)........................ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Minecraft is a game that was founded on creativity. So you can do whatever you want with it. In any way you want.

We can all take some valuable things from this thread. Don't tell people how to play the game. And don't assert opinion as fact. And don't say something ruined minecraft.

:eatenalive: by Cynips Microsoft didn't kill Minecraft. :DSWORD: PVP didn't kill Minecraft. Minecraft didn't kill Minecraft. Youtube didn't kill Minecraft. 1.9 didn't kill Minecraft. WE didn't kill Minecraft. Last time I checked its main page (today), Minecraft is still gaining new players at a consistent rate. New players play for a minimum of what, a year? Two years? Minecraft is still the most popular thing on youtube. Microsoft has only done good things and hasn't touched the code. 1.9 is liked by the majority.

So, I conclude, Minecraft is very much alive and all of its aspects (pvp) included are the reason it is.

But in all seriousness it will :)

Ya know, the last post should be neutral. Sorry if my original one was not. xD

Hey! I came to the forums to learn, to discover, not to discuss most of the time! XD
Sorry if I didn't use the right word, but I really meant discussion, "open discussion" if you want to.
I'm morally obligated, if you responded me, I should respond you, just for being a good person, or at least a fair one.
    Thanks for your time!

Well, thank you for taking the initiative. I think we should probably kill this thread now. ^_^

There, everyone happy? Don't answer that. It was rhetorical.
And we should kill this discussion until 1.9 is released. K? (Also rhetorical)

This thread is still going? Wow...

    Unfortunately, yes.
At least it is no longer a primitive flame war though.
And honestly, I'd prefer the title of this thread to be "Why some are hating 1.9"

As for a release date, the sooner the better IMO because this thread will die once people start playing it. I will leave the reason as ambiguous. Because it's obvious. XD

I'm gona be honest: I'm tired of this, aren't you?
I'm not gonna answer this time, I do have arguments, but it's pointless to debate about opinions, don't you think so?
I wrote what I don't like about 1.9, my job here is done, thanks for the arguing, anyway, I really liked it.

    Welcome to the forums! XD
This isn't an argument. We are merely discussing our views. Such is the purpose of the forums. Changes won't be made to the system if we don't sound our voice; support for the system only exists when people actually support the system. You were never (and still aren't) obligated to respond to everything or anything posted. As I have stated I see it as more of an open discussion which helps the developement of the game, which is the reason I came to the forums in the first place. And, quite frankly, the reason they were ever created.

where can I see the changes coming in 1.9 I've been seeing resource packs advertised as 1.9 ready and so on but I havent even seen anything official about 1.9. Could be I didn't look hard enough but I am interested in what is coming.

If you are hyped like I am, the best way to follow developement is on Minecraft wiki's snapshot page. There, you will learn every thing being developed as soon as it's developed. Or you can go to the 1.9 page where you can see a master list of changes. I recommend that at this point. Hope this helped.

In fact, use this link: http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/1.9

posted a message on Yo put notch apples back!

No they need to put it back the way it was. "finding" a finite number of items is not fun in any way for most of us. They are simply making an update which caters to a small number of players meanwhile giving the finger to the community at large. I am not happy with any of the changes and strongly dislike the direction Minecraft is headed! Notch come back and save us from Micro$oft!!!!! Please!!!!!!!

Vice versa. Statistics have shown 85-90% of players prefer the changes made in 1.9 to the old ones. Don't post something that just isn't true. Also, as for the microsftand Notch thing, I hope that was a joke. I think it was. I hope.

It was nearly impossible to craft anyways. All of that gold needed, which was 72 ingots in total? Pretty hard to get. Now, notch apples are a bit easier to get.

And to clarify, Microsoft is not developing the game. Mojang is. They own Mojang, but there is a difference between "own" and "develop."

I don't mind the changes, as finding gold is a bit hard for myself.

    ^
Thank you. This I agree with. Golden apples were borderline impossible to craft and super OP to the point were you could stomp enemies 2 tiers above you gear wise. Now they are viable.

Also, besides not touching the code, Microsoft is neither behind story mode nor the upcoming movie. They have literally done nothing other than windows 10 edition which allows players who don't have mobile devices to play with their friends who only have just that. And the impressive hololens.

    Quote from PD101»

If you've been playing minecraft since the beginning like me, then you would understand the feeling that minecraft is drifting further and further away from what it originally was. Which was awesome. That aside- Mojang, what are you doing? Make Notch apples craftable again. Are you just looking for things to add to annoy people in the community?

    -_-
Sounds like old is gold to me. I swear, if I hear alpha/beta versions were better ONE more time.....

Not cool at all in any way shape or form! Put them back! I have little to no interest in 1.9 as it is and you wanna ruin the game even further by removing good things? What for?

The golden apples and super are uncraftable, but now can BOTH be found in dungeons. So they haven't been removed, don't worry.

Should I consider pressing F3 for coordinates and layer lever cheating on my survival world? Help me decide this for myself, please.

It's not cheating. It's a part of the game. Although some people prefer not to use it, I feel a major part of the game would be lost if we were limited to maps and compasses alone.

I didn't say it mods are the answer to everything, ._. I meant that adding new mods and blocks is not a good idea, there're already a lot of mobs and blocks out there.
And adding more mobs and blocks is lacking of creativity.
New game mechanics is what they are looking for, because for more blocks and mobs, you can mod your MC.

    1. Mods can change game mechanics. A lot. Just look at iChun and survival overhaul mods.
    2. The game as it stands needs more mobs. Especially ambiance/sea/boss mobs. The statement that it lacks creativity is borderline insulting to the entire community. We all want more mobs, and it's almost calling shulkers, guardians, withers, and blazes uncreative.
    3. Blocks are blocks. They are neither uncreative nor creative. As long as they are well balanced, new blocks can only help because they are building materials and minecraft is a game about building.
    4. You are saying new mechanics only? This whole thread is full of people who hate change and would be willing to rage over any new mechanic. Perhaps reworking old mechanics before adding new ones would be optimal. Although I also agree a few new ones would still be nice as well every once in a while.

For the people hating 1.9, try this experiment:

In 1.9, summon 5 skeletons, get full iron armor, a sword, shield, and some food. In hard mode. Then go in 1.7.10 and summon 10 skeletons, gt full irn armor, a sword, and some food.

What is easier? 1.7 combat. 1.9 makes playing survival gives me fear of finding a creeper in my mines, a skeleton outside my door, or a zombie on my roof. It makes the pros of minecraft fear what we used to dominate day and night. 1.9 is making minecraft survival hard in EASY. When 1.9 comes out, Noobs will learn, and pros will be rekt by 3 skeletons on their first night. Im not saying its a good idea to make it THIS hard, but it is good that minecraft is not spammy spammy click click all day long in factions.

Yes i'm ranting, just wanted to get it out of my system.

Yes! I agree. It will make the game's scenarios more interesting and challenging. Maybe it will be a wee bit too challenging, but things like that will change.

    Quote from c3r38r170»

If you want more blocks and mobs, just install a mod. ._.

    -_-
You know, mods aren't the answer to everything. Just because there are mods out there for it, doesn't mean it shouldn't be in vanilla. You'd be suprised how few people are willing to install a mod to play a nice map. Or even a resource pack. I would know, as a modpacker who makes modded maps.
