X_angelz_X posted a message on How can I find the minecraft_server.jar for 1.5.1?Posted in: Server Support and AdministrationQuote from Leftaas
So yeah! I 'm trying to install some mods to my server but I can't find the minecraft_Server.jar for minecraft 1.5.1. I also want the minecraft_server.exe for it... So how can I find 'em?
Haha, this is a very simple question, and I'd be glad to help you out here. You can receive the 1.5.1 server.jar from this location listed below.
http://assets.minecraft.net/
And if you need help on finding the actual context in where to download it, I've gone a step ahead and put it in this spoiler below.

I wish you luck on your server man, and If I've helped you out today, feel free to give me 5 stars on my profile and 1+ this post! ^.^
Also, if you are still confused on what you need to do, you just need to put the context from the <key> into your url from the assets, and the file will begin to download.

I never watched any of them, not because they are bad (they're really good, at what they do) , it's because it's just not my style of video.
I mainly watch Redstone tutorial videos, and gaming news videos. Let's plays and gaming commentary isn't really my thing.
I still watch the occasional Let's Play. But I find playing the game myself, more fulfilling than watching someone else play it.

It's still early days for this. Who knows, the ability to do upload and download may appear in the future. I would think so, because once the subscription ends and a player doesn't renew it. I'm sure players want to download their map and save it for the future or something.
At this stage, I wouldn't say there is much RAM dedicated to it because it has a max 4 players limit. But then again, who knows what the future holds, and the limit may increase.

For one, port forwarding could pose a few security threats if you don't know what you are doing, and I won't recommend youtube, as they simply tell you to open ports, but don't tell you what is really happening. Most of the time, they don't know what they are doing either.
Another thing is, servers use quite a bit of computer resource. RAM and CPU is important, but most of all, connection. Most ISP's don't allow servers to be run your home computer, because it is part of their Terms Of Use policy. And internet usage does cost a bit of money, and if you go over your data allowance, your dad's ISP may charge additional charges or slow your connection down.
I would recommend using a registered Minecraft host, they have all the right software and all the technical side already configured for Minecraft servers. The cheapest host I have seen is PlugPayPlay, and I have been a customer with them before and the support is very nice. But I'm sure you will find a host suitable for you. Minecraft host's are very cheap in comparison to home hosting in the long run, is more reliable.
Most hosts cost about $10 a month for a 1GB of RAM, which is not expensive at all.
A good place to find some nice hosts is here.
I hope you have a nice day

Are you trying to colour your server MOTD like this?
If you are, you edit MOTD in the server.properies file.
Mine looks like this:
You put in the colour code before the text.
Here is the other colour codes.
If you do this all correctly, you shouldn't get any ?'s

Not just Minecraft, the forums isn't just Minecraft don't you know
In the last couple of weeks, I have been hopping around the forums, upper forums, OT, forum games, even support. I've learnt there are a lot of different kinds of people around here and Minecraft isn't the only thing the forum talks about.. I've got to know a few people really well too and make some new friends.
