Apr 29, 2012Hunter posted a message on Change Your Minecraft Name? Possibly In The FutureThis is not a very practical idea.Posted in: News
If someone gets banned, they can just change their name. If you change it for fun, all the servers you were whitelisted in, you wouldn't be allowed in, until they whitelist your new name.
I like the idea of a unique ID number, that never changes. So you can change your name, but not change identity. This could also play a part in anti-grief protection, as their ID would be banned too.I think they should be more clear on minecraft.net when making an account, that it is going to be your screen name too.
Although I love my username as it is
Some people dont have a static IP. My IP changes everyday or so. -

Seasons and weather I will let it slide, as they are similar to each other. But animals should be in a separate thread. I have edited the thread and I will PM you the animals paragraph.
Thanks

Thanks for pointing ServerMania out, I've just been on a live chat and working out a nice deal.
As of now; I have found my host. Thanks everyone for posting your offers.

Sounds pretty good to buy straight from the source then. I am confident with setting up VPS's, so it should just be the same basically.
Do you some good datacentres in the west coast US area?
Also what processor would be suitable for a semi big Minecraft server with lots of plugins? I can't seem to google a straight answer. Could someone please briefly describe the performance hierarchy of these different processors.
Thanks
Hello,
I live all the way in New Zealand, so West US servers are geologically the best in terms of latency and price. I'd rather pay $160 for a dedicated server in US than $160 for a weaker machine and ram number in Australia.

Thanks

I am looking at getting a dedicated server from a reputable host in the West US area. I am needing at least 16GB of ram, and a decent processor.
I am going to be setting up a server network full of custom gamemodes and such, and looking at about 50-80 players online.
No budget
Thanks

I am looking to get a VPS from either of the two countries in the title. (AUSTRALIA or NEW ZEALAND)
I am currently using a host, they are not bad and all, but they don't offer some features that I wanted and sometimes the server wouldn't be able to handle our small player count. (even with vanilla)
I am looking for a VPS host that ;
Allows me to change to the OS that I want and have a VPS control panel, not Minecraft control panel (ie SolusVM)
Decent hardware. I want to be able to handle at least 10 -15 players with bukkit. (there won't be many plugins either)
That's about it.
Before any "We great connection to AUS, NZ players" comments. I am making a pvp server and ping is crucial. I find it impossible to play pvp with more than 200ms of ping, which unfortunately all but AUS/NZ hosts are to us. That's why I am wanting to spend some cash on a decent connection.
Thanks for your time.

Hello Dromy, thank you for taking the time to check out Cubecrafted. But unfortunately I am going to have to declined your application. The server is hosted in New Zealand (literally the other side of the world for you) and the lag would be tremendous. This server is more centred to Oceania players.
There is nothing wrong with your application at all, but it's just that you wouldn't be able to play with us properly. Also with timezones we have a 12 hour difference. So you would be playing while we are sleeping and vise versa.
Once again, thank you and sorry.
IMPORTANCE NOTICE FOR ALL WHO HAVE BEEN DECLINED DUE TO LOCATION
If you really really want to play on the server, feel free to PM me and I will whitelist you. But please don't complain about the lag because I have already stated and guaranteed you will get it.
Thank you

Hello guys,
I would love to whitelist all of you, but as the server is hosted all the way in New Zealand, it would be almost unplayable for you lot. I have a friend in the UK and he says the lag is unbearable for him. I'll just save you the hassle, I would recommend finding another server closer to home
Sorry
Hey man, your application is successful! Check your PMs for the details

Hello,
I live in New Zealand, I am not on any particular budget because parts cost a bunch here and I'd rather spend the extra cash for quality a product.

I am almost finished building my new pc, I have all the parts except power supply, graphics card and CPU.
I have been looking for hours trying to find a decent power supply, but I don't know what brands to stay away from and I don't understand the power certification thing (bronze, gold etc).
Can you guys please help me out and help me pick out a power supply for my machine.
I am getting the Sapphire R9 280x Toxic which for some reason Sapphire says I requires a 750w power supply, some people say I can get a lower wattage psu, but I am going with what the manufacturer says, and stick with 750w.
It's also needs to be a modular power supply, because the phantom 410 case is a tight squeeze.
Cheers
