Thank you for the information you have provided. I have been having issues myself with allowing others access to my server. I have port forwarded as you have through much research. I have done the firewall exceptions. I have even disabled my routers firewall. When I test the port, it still shows closed unable to connect, connection refused.
I have a Belkin router and have looked at all the options, sadly I cannot find advanced options to change the WAN setup; however I did find this option...
Firewall > DMZ
The DMZ feature allows you to specify one computer on your network to be placed outside of the NAT firewall. This may be necessary if the NAT feature is causing problems with an application such as a game or video conferencing application. Use this feature on a temporary basis. The computer in the DMZ is not protected from hacker attacks. To put a computer in the DMZ, enter the last digits of its IP address in the field below and select "Enable". Click"Apply Changes"for the change to take effect.More Info
Any idea if enabling this would work. I really hate messing around too much with my router settings without someone else's insight with not knowing a large amount of info about them.
Also, since I have DSL connection and my phone service is through VOIP with a Lynksis router/modem comb could this be preventing outside connections? I have spoke with my ISP multiple times. They state there should not be a problem; that they do not block any inbound connections and that the VOIP service should not interfere. I even went to the extenct to pay an additonal $5.00 a month for a public IP address with them and still was unable to show the ports open and have anyone else connect.
Any insight and information anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.
