I'm fairly certain the old launcher will stop working once this change goes through, as it hasn't been updated in years. Unless Forge or Mojang decide to support Forge 1.6.4, it's unlikely that'll change.

Any idea what the new login API will look like so far? If I had to guess, it'll probably be some OAuth2 login like for any Microsoft account integration, instead of the authentication being handled by a third party launcher or website (which is great for security, but will break essentially every account related service ever). Would be nice if there was some updated documentation in advance, so developers can update accordingly.

Well, CustomNPCs can essentially create police mobs, while fire hydrants can probably be created in vanilla Minecraft via command blocks.

Alright, can't argue with that.

Not sure if this is what you mean by turrets, but there is always MC Helicopters: MCHelicopters. There is a config setting for infinite fuel and/or ammo. The mod itself is focused on vehicles, but adds machine guns and other ground weapons. As I've mentioned, I'm not sure if this is what is meant by "turrets" but here's the closest mod I could recommend.

I actually agree with Tony78, mostly the update made fighting and combat more difficult in the sense that you couldn't spam-click, as opposed to making mobs do more damage or have unique abilities. Nonetheless, plugins on Spigot can most likely fix/disable this.

You could also use Audacity, but that is an external program.

Yeah, makes sense.

I wish this mod's 1.6.4 version was updated, but apparently that's not going to happen.

Your best bet is to reinstall Forge.

Alright, thanks for answering.

Is there any chance of a Minecraft 1.8 update sometime soon, or is this going to be updated to Minecraft 1.9 when it comes out?

Okay, I have nothing against Linux. Mac OS was actually based on Linux a really long time ago. But most computers come with Windows 8 and I could make an essay on why Windows 8 is terrible. At least you can format the hard drive and install Linux on it. The problem though is that when you buy a Windows PC, about maybe 30% is the cost of Windows 8/8.1 Pro, which some people would just delete anyway.

Well, maybe. But, if you want a computer that is easy to use or will always boot up in the morning, that would be Mac. Windows computers just have too much preinstalled bloatware and driver problems. Mac is just simply more reliable. But if you want the constant headaches of Windows, then go ahead. Windows has about, oh I don't know, maybe 90 updates every Tuesday? Mac: maybe two a month or so. I will agree that some things are better on Windows (downgrading) than on Mac though.
Don't get me started on Windows 8 though. I have a lot of opinions about that.

Or because we treasure quality computers.

Mac OS X El Capitan, Mac OS X 10.11, or however you would like to call it, but yes. Not as big a revamp as Mac OS X Yosemite though...

Well, $99 is expensive as opposed to $29...
